friendly reminder that the bare minimum requirement for being a member of the pc master race is a 1440p monitor, preferably ultrawide.

You're a glorified retro console emulating pajeet if you're below this very reasonable, bare minimum.

>what other cables are there except between your 4G modem and router and your router and PC?
None, there's just my PC with a gigabit controller, the blue cat5 cable going into my router, which has the Huawei modem plugged into it which holds the sim card. The biggest upgrade it had over the years was updating from 2014 firmware to 2015 firmware which seems to have mildly boosted speeds. It also has the stock antennae replaced.

I get the impression however that plugging the modem in directly has always resulted in faster speeds and prevented the periodic need to restart the router because of a gateway error or the connection just dropping. This is despite living literally right next to a cell tower.

Yeah we're fucked
China is supposedly trying to start making parts but it will be awhile before they're good enough to match what we have now
At best we're kneecapped for the next decade while we play catch up, at worse personal computing will fade away into a niche market
I'm just leaning towards the latter. All of the oldfags who don't game have their hardware and new generation gamers don't even know how to use PCs and just game on phones/consoles, so the poor sales of individual consumer components will cause the industry to shrink and die out drastically.
>>
>>108918586

>>
>>108918652
more than ram went up in price, ssd prices are now way worse, and now they're estimating gpus and cpus will go up soon too. the fact of the matter is there isn't any recovering from this. we will never have normal prices again assuming we even have a market at all after this. nvidia, amd, and all these others aren't even going to bother with us anymore now that they saw there's gold in other markets that don't include us. ai could collapse and they will either turn their head to data center infrastructure or just die out completely.
pc gaming is an overlooked nothing burger in all of this that will live and die by industries outside of our control.

If plugging the modem directly gives you better speeds then chances are your router is kinda shit, rather than whatever cable you're using.
Cable quality and shielding only starts to matter once you run really long cables.
In any case are you actually forced to use LTE? I had similar internet speeds 20 years ago.
>>
what will be the best way to make money within the beast system so I can afford my computer and home network hobby in the future, I don't want to be part of the slaves who own nothing and are happy.
>>
>>108918785
Do you have any marketable skills that involve using a computer?
>>
>>108918773
>are you actually forced to use LTE
Well we could have had fiber optic ever since the neighborhood got it years back with the cheapest 300MB/s plan starting at $11 but my idea was met with objections because we're paying for 5 sim cards with two of them having 80 and 1030GB data caps because Orange has favorable deals for that.
>your router is kinda shit
Probably, damn thing always had trouble dropping connections in the past. But I'd need to do more research before ordering a new router and cable for tomorrow, and because they don't tell me outright the speeds I'm paying for on cell as far as I can tell from the old paperwork, I'd have to call them and ask.

you don't have to be an ai bro to look at the situation realistically, and the reality of the situation is that we're fucked
no amount of sitting back and kicking our feet up thinking this will all blow over while ignoring the facts in front of us will help, we need to find a way to be heard by nvidia/amd/etc otherwise they'll abandon us
nvidia already confirmed they no longer see us as valuable and they're the only thing holding up the gpu market right now. if they abandon us the rest will follow
>>
>>108918571
Nobody wants that shit. People don't have as much use for cloud computing as these companies want the investors to believe. None of this will effect you in a decade when the U.S. government buys out the big data centers and forces the tax payer to pay for it "because military industrial complex".

Everything the these ai companies are telling you is a half truth. The reality is that the U.S. military needs compute for things that won't even begin to effect your life, so they're subcontracting the initial build-up to private companies like they did for every other major military build-up. It's a underhanded supply chain free market drop meant to ease inflation and outsource military spending.

Obviously it’s be easier to just stuff the extra into some spare space but if it isn’t needed once the whole build is together it’d be cool to trim and reorganize the wiring. Barring I don’t fuck up and brick my system

I got a SSD and didnt realize I needed to put windows on it to have better performance. is the way to get windows 10 on it properly from my HDD something like
1. put wni10 installer on usb
2. unplug HDD
3. go into BIOS and install windows on SSD
4. replug HDD
will having windows on the HDD and SSD do anything wonky if I can choose which windows boots first in BIOS like google told me? do I need to format any of the drives, really dont want to format either if possible

Chair is subjective as HELL, if you have neck trouble, almost no chairs at all will suit you, as they all force your neck forward in bad postures. But only the more expensive chairs are worth it. I'll leave the recs on those to others.

But footrests? wildly underrated, i have 2 of these and i love them.

plus, you know, all the other drawbacks which is why amd has <10% marketshare

I'm tired of this meme, the reason AMD has 10% market share is because they don't make enough GPUs and don't push them on prebuilts or laptops. The enthusiast market counts for fuck all of the actual market share, it's why Intel was still the majority leader in CPUs until you started seeing every single "GAMING" prebuilt come with a ryzen cpu.

theres potential issues if your mobo is old and uses wrong format, or usb stick has data loss,
I wasted some time when the installer asks "if you want to keep installing windows click yes, otherwise remove usb stick" and the correct action is to remove the usb stick which moves on with the process or it starts the installation process again, it was worded oddly.

nothing i just find people who confidently state that they are going to leave windows 10 for linux once 10 hits eol really funny. since those are the people who struggle with using windows the most apparently. making their switch to linux seem very unrealistic in my eyes. if they can't even handle a switch from windows 10 to 11 (i don't mean that windows is not complete dogshit but just the ui and install etc change). i guess there are two types of people who switch to linux. the ones who know windows in and out and don't struggle using it but just hate microsoft and how they do and not do things and the ignorant windows users who think it's a drop-in replacement and that all their problems with windows are going to be solved on linux. it does take a lot of ignorance to state something like that while struggling with windows is my point.

gpu is literally the easiest thing in your pc to remove
>>
>>108923152
when I first put my PC together like 6 years ago I had an issue where I inserted my GPU in some fucked up way because I had no clue what I was doing and it somehow got stuck in the socket and wouldnt come out. went to a PC store and the guy had to like wrestle it out and it made some loud noise when it came out and I thought he like snapped my MB but everything was fine when he did but I still have like GPU insertion PTSD and dont want to wrestle with my computer
>>
>>108923165
if you break your gpu/mobo then its just a good opportunity to upgrade
you know how it goes, exposure to trauma is the best way to build tolerance
>>
>>108923172
fucker I dont wanna spend money on parts now I dont have much throwaway money and I dread getting a new MB just plugging in everything all over again. will give it a shot tomorrow tho after a proper mirror pep talk and counseling

Powercolor Reaper 9070XT is the only high-end two slot card on the market. It's the ultimate for SFF builds.
>>
>>108923462
Oopps posted the wrong pic. Here is the best of the best version of RX 9070 XT.
>>
>>108923475
Sapphire Pulse is better than Reaper.

I'm finally considering a full upgrade from my ancient pc. What's a reasonable price in america for a computer that can run most games at a solid 60fps on mid settings with room for future upgrades? I poked around on pcpartpicker and most builds end up around 2k, is that roughly the price I'm looking at or can I get what I want for cheaper?
>>
remind me again /g/ why are 12pins bad again?
>>
>>108923506
ram and ssd tax made all solid pcs 2k and trying to gimp budgets just literally doesnt work anymore
>>
>>108923512
The flaw is that all systems use the same ram and storage. A $15,000 workstation benefits from the same ram and storage as whatever the cheapest system you can build does. In fact you can increase a cheap pc's usefulness, or gimp it by the ram selection and capacity. Same with storage. People are trying jump ship back to ddr4 because the reality of competing with the industry is too much. Literally trying to invest in dead end sockets to save money by dodging competition. Even ai bro's are purchasing am4 because server farms are too much to compete with.
>>
>>108923506
can you reuse the ssd and ram? then the pc prices aren't so bad compared to previous years
>>
If I do not care for 4k or even 2k resolution and will stay on 1080p till the end of time, is a 9070xt overkill?

crazy how the steel legend that I have and the ASUS prime look the best of them all
>>
>>108923574
for 1080p you can stay with a 60 series card, for "(very) comfortable 1440p, get the 9070xt
>>
How come 1440p is 2K if 4K is the double of 1080p and 5K is the double of 1440p.

if i would buy RAM for 15k rig i would buy the 6000MHZ 28CL Saudi RAM

jsut checked
>cheapest 6000 30 cl ram is 500 (just to be 250 lmao)
>saudi ram 6000 28cl is just 600 (just to be 500 lmao)

i think i might invest in to saudi ram now that's it only 100 nbuck cheaper than cheapest ram

where would you anons put a second monitor in this setup? I have a dog who sheds and dont want to put the PC on the floor, thinking about getting a wall mount as I like the space on the left of the desk and dont have any backboard for anything to set up there anyway. or would it just be better to clear out the left side of the desk and put it on the lower level?
>>
>>108923512
That's a shame.
I can work with 2k but it's still high enough to make me want to wait and see if prices drop.
>>108923559
I have 16gb ram which is passable, even if I have to be a bit concious about it. For storage though I only have one 1tb hd and one 2tb hd. Which is really not holding up.
>>
>>108923607
512gb ssds aren't that expensive
>>
>>108923604
nigga u live inside a n64 007 golden eye level?
>>
>>108923604
Damn bitch you live like this?
>>
>>108923604
put case closer to camera, get longer leads. put monitor where case was.
>>
>>108923607
get the 500gb or 1b Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD its the cheapest gimped SSD
for ryzen 7 ram you wanna go something with 6000mhz and 30-40cl which ever is cheapest, as long as you have 6000mzh on it the cl doesnt matter if you want cheapest
cheap GPUs are Powercolor Reaper (check for Hellhound too it might be cheap somewhere) or Sapphire Pulse or Pure (the white one has better stats but sometimes can be found some price as the black pulse onme)
MSI MAG A750GL is good budget friendly psu for RX 9070 XTs it doesnt have coil whine and it's kidna quiet but check prices
it's still gonna be 2k or like 1.8-9k
>>
>>108923604
>>108923628
holy shit kek

yes
>>
>>108923604
>tile floor
PC on floor, dummy. Then you have all that room on the left.
>>
>NVME stop working
>go look at 2tb new one
>same price as a RX 9070 XT
dafuq
>>
>>108923509
because the standard fucking sucks, and everything is running at 95% of max capacity, so any irregularities will have catastrophic consequences (i.e. melted cables, connectors, or fires)
>>
>>108923604
swap the computer and the keyboard
>>
>>108923658
I have a german shepherd who sheds like crazy I dont want my case filling up with hair otherwise I would
>>
>>108923672
then you might have to buy a bigger table
>>
>>108923672
You know they sell PC cases with intake filters, yeah?
>>
>>108923669
im worried if the monitors would fall off the higher shelf if I did that, assuming you mean put the case on the right side and put the 2 monitors and keyboards on the left. probably not going to happen but if it happens once it breaks
>>
>>108923690
If you're paranoid, you can just get desk mount monitor arms.
>>
>>108923699
I think thats what Ill end up doing, not sure if Ill put one or both monitors on the left still
