I want to run a miner on my rig. I have 5950. AI tells me all is fine to run at 100%, for days at a time, as long as my temps stay under 60C. Is AI lying to me again?

Since OLED prices seem pretty reasonable right now and I've been thinking about getting one for a while, I think this might be a good time to pull the trigger. What I currently have:Viewsonic XG2703-GS from 2017. 27", 1440p, 144 Hz, IPS. Still holding up well, no dead pixels or anything. Will stay as a secondary/work monitor.7800X3D4080 SuperI play at 1440p DLSS Quality, maxed-out settings, RT, PT, with Framegen most of the time.My target is 100+ FPS, but at least 60 FPS.Should I stick with 27" and 1440p, or can I go up to 32" and 4K?Budget max €1,500. Cheaper is fine too.Build quality and longevity should be top tier, I hate stuff that doesn't last.Needs to be fully adjustible in terms of ergonomics.

>>108981744>Is there any point or benefit to getting a CPU with integrated graphics if you have a proper GPU too?Solely for diagnosing problems the PC may or may not have, and only if they're related to GPU or PCIe slot failures.
>>108981744iGPU have come a long way. If you want to do light gaming without having a dedicated GPU, the intel arc igpu or amd 880m are pretty impressive for what they are. However, if you want to do anything beyond low to medium settings depending on the game, a dedicated gpu is a must. With Nvidia introducing their RTX spark cpus, it's going to be interesting to see just how far they can push integrated gpus. However, I don't think dedicated gpus are ever going to be replaced.
>>108981744You can set additional displays to use the iGPU and leave your main screen dedicated to the video card. The iGPU can be used for troubleshooting if your video card stops working.
>>108981744As the other anons said, its mostly useful for diagnostics if its in your main machine. But if you're thinking about turning your pc into a server after you upgrade in the future, the igpu can be a godsend. Found someone willing to sell 64GB of DDR5 6400 CL32 Corsair RGB for $530. Is this a decent price in terms of the used hardware swapping market? Also does Corsair's RGB (dominator, vengeance etc) work with motherboard RGB standards these days? I've not used their stuff for awhile, but I know that Gskill for instance automatically can have Asus motherboards control it automatically because they're compatible with Asus Aura (and whatever MSI, Gigabyte/Aorus etc) uses.
>>108983826I can control my dominators with OpenRGB. Motherboard control required some fuckery for me with Armory Crate and an iCue plugin. I tried this once and then set up windows again to get rid of the bloatware and simply let it be.
Has anyone tried an Asus Ryujin III or similar color LCD powered cooler on Linux? Or for that matter, one one of those Asus boards like the Crosshair Glacial that has a built in color OLED? I just wonder how much control users can have without having to deal with bloatware shit.>>108983842Thanks. Anyone tried it with Linux? I'm guessing OpenRGB can work just fine at least? I saw some post online about yeah, some iCUE + Plugin for mobo platform, so after you did that at least once reformatting there was no other problem and it could be controlled from the mobo? One thing i generally like about my Asus board is that without any software , I can use the BIOS / UEFI to control not only the mobo's lighting, but also my 5090 Astral, and Gskill TridentZ RGB Neo lighting without any fucking around; they all sync, but can be individually configured too with different parameters if desired.
Is buying the Steam Machine going to be good value for money considering how shit the prices of parts are now?
>>108983987We won't know until it actually releases, but I personally don't think it to be the case for those who can othewise build a PC. The value inherent in being able to modify and upgrade a standard PC is significant; I'd put the Steam Machine in something similar to a NUC / 4X4 style miniPC . It may be a good one of those, but I still think that its fundamentally different from building your own PC.

Ryujin 3 Extreme can be controlled under windows with the ROG version of AIDA but it needs to run the whole time in the background and you had to update the firmware on the AIO which requires armory crate once. I think more modern ASUS AIOs have a windows specific own app outside of armory crate that can be used. Likewise the Glacial and the refresh x870e boards have a new MB Manager software that looks like a reduced armory crate only for the motherboards but no idea how good it is as I only tried it for 5 or 10 minutes. Most RGB software needs to run in the background like Armory Crate and even openRGB otherwise unless the device itself can remember the settings it will just fall back to default.>I can use the BIOS / UEFI to control not only the mobo's lighting, but also my 5090 Astral, and Gskill TridentZ RGB Neo lighting without any fucking aroundthis works? >>108984094Ahh, yeah I have an X670E Extreme mobo which has a little OLED and by default it shows package temp, voltage, and a host of other specs - it also shows init while booting and other stuff, so its useful, plus what you can configure it to do manually. Its nice the newer boards under Windows have MB Manager / AIO app rather than the hulk that is Armory Crate exclusively. I don't mind running FOSS software in the background or whatnot for advanced stuff, but I do think that for what a lot of these devices cost it seems like they should be able to remember certain settings. I'm thinking of buying the new Edition 20 kit and it has a fuckhuge 6.67" "dual swivel" (is that 2x 6.67" displays?) AMOLED on the cooler and they specifically mention "Display Sync-Up Mode" so I'm guessing that's some sort of mirroring. Using Linux I hope the damn thing isn't basically a paperweight as far as the display is concerned, but it seems like that particular Edition 20 mobo + cooler combo is unique in both regards (ie the cooler is 40mm thick rad unlike the typical 30mm etc) so looking at others may not be able to sort it. With such a large display it would be cool if it had a USB-C Display Port Alt or miniHDMI connectivity option, but I'd settle for being able to get it to run with FOSS stuff ideally.
>>108984136I tried the glacial and while I liked the monitor all the extra extension for m2s were total overkill and even in EATX supported cases I disliked bending the cables so hard. >>108984174I kinda feel that the focus on all these M.2 slots is somewhat moot given that we don't have the fucking lanes to run them all concurrently. This isn't a Crosshair issue (they actually do better than most) but a platform issue. We don't have real HEDT anymore and its stupidly expensive and out of date, but I don't see why they don't; just upgrade the mainstream, at least on the high end variants like X870E, to have A) more PCi-E lanes, if you have a CPU that is capable of them like back in the old days with the X99 platform and/or B) quad channel RAM to give you bandwidth and performance. That aside, I think some of the M.2 stuff was useful like the additional chipset. On my X670E Extreme the Q-DIMM2 or whatever they call the RAM-like slot that you mount 2 SSDs on it is pretty great and doesn't conflict with any of your PCI-E slot performance. I hope you enjoy the 2006, it looks like a neat upgrade to the Dark Hero and has the little OLED too. The Ryuo IV AIO cooler seems to have a similar display to the one with Edition 20 perhaps (at least in size?) but the E20 seems to have better specs (40mm thickness rad etc) . As far as it being built in, thankfully its not actually built in as a monoblock or whatever that you can't remove, its just bundled together, but yeah I can see your point about replacements. I did see one bit about them selling the cooler alone as well just like all the other E20 stuff, but supposedly NOT the mobo alone. >>108984330>>108984382Yeah this is odd to me, they're adding 24GB of RAM on 5070 Ti and 5080? >>108984569DDR5 + PCI-E 5 motherboards are more expensive in general it's not AM5 specific. You don't need high end board for AM5, those are a scam. >>108984755DDR5 is shit in general, so your system will take a while to boot because training takes minimum 20seconds on a 32GB, if your motherboard is shit it will take longer. It will also become unstable even with XMP/EXPO if it becomes warm, so avoid sticks with plastic isolators acting as heat spreaders. Having good airflow over the memory is mandatory.Using 4 sticks of DDR5 is a trap, avoid it unless you want to manually tweak your memory.I had no issues with AyyMD and I used AM4 and AM5. But every motherboard is different so read about common issues before you buy one.Like for example AssRock motherboards being more likely to kill your 9800X3D.

>>108984819>damn so they haven't figured it it and we're on year 5 of DDR5 being mainstream, what the fuck?Desktop DDR5 clearly was an afterthought, it shows how much more important enterprise/server users are. Proper ECC should be a standard on desktop at this point. AM5 can't even take full advantage of DDR5 bandwidth anyway because it's limited by Infinity Fabric. Maybe Zen6 will finally fix that.
>>108984837>it shows how much more important enterprise/server users are.I thought that the AI DRAM race already showed how much manufacturers are willing to fuck over consumers.

I'm the same about tiny noisy shit fans. I had a motherboard that had a fan on the chipset heatsink. It was noisy and I had to change it 4-5 times over the years. I eventually lost the motherboard due to the fan dying again and me not realising it.I swore off tiny fans like that forever. Some of the new ITX 1851 Z boards have multiple tiny fans in them. I literally won't buy because of that. I'll take one of the B boards that aren't ridiculously over stretched as to requite active cooling.
>>108984957are tiny mobo fans audible over all the other fans?
>>108984963Always, they have to crank up the RPM to move any air.Big slow fans only, or passive cooling is the way to go.
>>108984837It's not that desktop DDR5 is an afterthought, it's more desktop users have some extremely unrealistic standards.Servers are at most running 5600mhz CL46 with DIMMs. The only real thing that servers have over desktop is since the memory is buffered, they can sustain those speeds across more DIMMsEven your "paltry" 6000mhz CL30 is faster and lower latency than 99.9% of all systems running DDR5 when you count servers and OEM machines
>>108979095I think my bottom front fan died, its no longer spinning but the RGB is still working, is there a way to test to see if it is actually broken? I think I turned on contextual fan speeds relative to tempreture.
>>108984976There is nothing unrealistic about my expectations.A lot of users have problems with DDR5 on desktop.Getting random errors is the worst because you cannot be sure what causes them, having ECC would help a lot.You can argue it would raise the cost of the memory even further but it's unreasonably expensive because of memory manufacturing cartel anyway.
>>108985038>A lot of users have problems with DDR5 on desktop. At what point does Gskill, Corsair or whoever take any blame for selling you kits that are clearly unstable at their supposedly "tested" and "validated" XMP/EXPO speeds?Your blaming the standard but not the people who sell you hardware.
>>108984819>they haven't figured it that's a misconception. ddr5 by design, takes longer to boot since it uses more complex training algorithms than older ddr memories to run its insanely high MT/s speeds stably
>>108985011Download Fan Control and set the RPM manually. Or you may also be able to do it in the BIOS. Or just increase the temp in your computer until all the fans are running high, e.g. by running a benchmark.
>>108984837>>108985038normies aren't read in into the benefits of ecc that's why. if you really want to have it, unbuffered ECC works on ryzen if you get the right brand of motherboard and appropriate ECC udimms
>>108985106It also works in Intel with W series chipsets, always has actually. The thing is the people claiming to want ECC just want it as a crutch as they believe they will let them clock the memory higher.People who want ECC for actual stability are already using ECC UDIMMs.
>>108985089It's not the fault of the manufacturer, they test it on their side and it works.DDR5 is basically Werks on my Machine™.There are 3 main variables, memory controller of the CPU, motherboard and RAM stick itself. There is also 4th one the user.
>>108985121>It's not the fault of the manufacturerIf you buy something, use it as intended and it doesn't work. That is 100% their fault from a basic consumer rights perspective.
>>108984948Nice
>>108985141How so? If they explicitly told you it depends on motherboard and CPU used would it change much?I think it a conflict of between, CPU, motherboard and DIMM manufacturers.AM5 CPUs officially support up to 5600MT and only for certain configurations. Yet motherboard manufacturers advertise clearly false speeds in their QVL.RAM manufacturers also test their hardware on very specific configurations with binned CPUs.If anything motherboard manufacturers are mostly to blame for false advertising.
>>108985185>If they explicitly told you it depends on motherboard and CPU used would it change much? They just have basic disclaimers about compatibility but if you personally have done everything correctly they are on the hook for that memory not being stable.People want to rationalize why it doesn't work and how companies shouldn't be coupable but they sold you memory they advertise at a certain speed. They didn't sell you a lottery ticket.
>>108985232I disagree, when even UEFI update can completely break stability there is no way to guarantee anything. Or how with older intel platforms you had memory controller voltages locked so DDR4 3200 was the limit. If they get penalized for false advertisement they will simply use slightly different language.Instead of DDR5 X MT/s you will see "up to DDR5 X MT/s".We had cases like that before.https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/ram/corsair-lost-a-lawsuit-over-advertising-overclocked-memory-speeds-and-you-could-get-paid-the-settlement-covers-u-s-purchases-between-2018-and-2025

>>108985564>Most companies out source their customer serviceOh I am well aware, I was entitled to a free copy of Resident Evil 9 with my ASUS PSU purchase and it took a chain of e-mails to get the damn CD key from like two different customer service departments because the structure of companies pushes a "we will listen once you're crying and screaming" situation.I will admit I have never gone through, or needed to, go through a traditional RMA process. But I recently e-mailed Keychron because my keyboard was breaking switches simply from removing the keycaps and said can you send me some replacement switches this sucks and they sent me 10 free of charge, so companies aren't totally evil and DO have reason.
>>108985551>>108985456I'm new to PC building. What exactly are the "super" cards? Just more VRAM and Cuda cores?
>>108985547>customers are 100% out there breaking their shit and lying about it through RMAIf something is broken on purpose or extreme negligence that's a different case then using backhanded reasoning or just straight up denying something based on something cosmetic or unrelated procedural problems. If there wasn't a history of these types of things happening then there wouldn't be any fear.
>>108985583>The average person cannot comprehend how a computer works. How does that not scare the piss out of anyone?
>>108985589No, just more vram, the only card getting a bump in cuda cores is the regular 5070 but the 5070 ti and 5080 would have the exact same chip and only add 8gb vram for a total of 24gb. The hope is that the supers push down the price of the regular cards and make them more affordable, but on the current market I think we're fucked.
>>108985592>If something is broken on purpose or extreme negligence that's a different caseI mean, people just lie to the RMA department, are you going to deny that people can lie? Lol.
>>108985599You don't even need more than 16GB of VRAM for most modern games. So the extra seems pointless. Wouldn't a bigger memory bus and more cuda cores be a much better upgrade in performance?
>>108985593Most people don't know how a car works either. They go to a mechanic. They trust their soul with them as they operate on everything from your breaks to airbags if they don't go off in accident RIP.
>>108985616those require designing and validating a whole new chipmemory bus is critical component that takes a lot of space on the chip and when you want more bus you just make a bigger chip = costs more so people who want have the 5090
>>108985630And adding more VRAM is basically just gluing one more chip to the PCB, right? So basically the super cards are just a scam.
>>108985626I know how internal combustion works, anon.
>>108985616You're not getting more cuda cores because the 5070tinand the 5080 use the same die and it's at it's max, only way to get more cuda cores is to use a cut down 5090 die for the 5070ti/5080 SUPER and Nvidia is not doing that when they use those does on the $5k a6000 and the 5090 is selling for $4k
>>108985634people who want to use AI apps will be very very enthusiastic about 24gb vram 50xx gpus that dont cost 4k$ like 5090

>>108985600Whatever you tell the RMA department doesn't matter If something has clearly been fucked by the user then companies have a right to deny an RMA.What I'm talking about is companies using any excuse to deny RMA regardless if its inconsequential to the function of the product or unrelated what's actually wrong with the product.

I wanted the dark hero for the button and dial PCIe 5 m2 slots but the 2006 looks better with a more minimalistic screen while having the same lane setup. I'm still not sure what case to get but the Cronox comes out in July even though it likely will be overpriced as hell for being basically a Havn HS420

>>108985734Steam deck costs $1000 now, so yeah any hope of that's gone out the window.
>>108984403>I kinda feel that the focus on all these M.2 slots is somewhat moot given that we don't have the fucking lanes to run them all concurrently.I think it's more that mobo manufacturing is like to the point where a motherboard has like 10 layers of wiring and a metal backplate and all this extra plastic on it, it costs them nothing to manufacture in some m.2 slots and it allows them to market the board as having more features.also the lane splitting only really matters if you're desperate for that pci-e 5.0 speed at x16, even at x8 gen 4 or whatever you're still getting really fast speeds but with a bunch of m.2 slots your PC can have like 4+ 8tb drives on it without needing to populate a huge part of your case with traditional HDD's and stuff. The real problem is that current top level boards allow just one gen 5 ssd and 5.0 gpu.
>>108985680>That VRMIt will cook or throttle if you install 14600K no question about that.
>>108985744The glacial just like the dark hero allow you to disable usb 4.0 for a second 4 lanes PCIe 5.0 m2. The glacial was utterly retarded as you could slot in a PCIe m2 adapter sharing then its lane with the GPU for additional two M2 slots and the extra slot next to the ram allowed yet another two m2s connected via the chipset on top of the chipset M2 on the board.
>>108985663>You meant to use the word "irrelevant", not sure why you're throwing words at me to derail this conversation.Inconsequential is the right term because certain things may or may not have consequences. >>108983764fuck meI may have to buy this monitorand I don't usually like curved ones
>>108985744>>108985781Alot of this could be solved with PLX chips. It doesn't solve the bandwidth problem but using PCIe switches to reroute lanes where your constantly sacrificing one thing for the other is stupid. You could take a fixed amount of lanes from either the CPU or chipset and no matter how many devices you connect you won't need to reroute lanes. The total bandwidth would still be limited to the upstream connection from the PLX chip but it's properly shared so any device can run at full speed and bandwidth only comes into play when multiple devices are using significant amounts of bandwidth which is likely a good trade off as not many will be pulling from multiple M.2s at full speed.
>>108985616your not wrong but nvidia themselves made it hard to do that since gb203 is only 378mm2 and only has a tiny 256bit bus and the next step up is too large and expensive to be a mass market gpu

>>108985782I guess I am lucky that I have simply just been polite to companies so they are always in the wrong for not helping me.Even when I lose my shit and e-mail them borderline racist stuff they still cannot deny I am innocent and I get my RMA claim done etc. No I do not recommend being racist via e-mail to them, but be so polite they have no reason to screw you over.

Is it viable to try and flip PCs for profit if you're doing it as a solo person? When sites like ebay and Jawa take such a huge cut it feels impossible.
>>108985915No.You'll only make money if you buy parts wholesale and have like 50 computers for sale.
>>108985915You do it locally over Craigslist or Facebook market but you risk getting robbed with a gun.
>>108985865Most companies outside the PC space are fine, even some companies inside of it.It seems to be something unique to the Taiwanese based companies. They all seem to generate pretty negative experiences. It used to be excused that it's because the business is low margin so they are going to take every advantage to not have serve RMAs but even in my experience with general consumer electronics which are also low margin that there is little to no fuss about honoring warranties.People only tolerate it because without these companies "how are you going to build a PC?" is the question people rationalize buying from objectively terrible companies. Even with my personal PC I very much minimize what I buy from the big 4 of Asus, MSI, Asrock and GB. I only have an Asrock mobo.
>>108985942I don't live in a shit hole with tons of black people around me. So the odds of getting robbed is extremely low. That said, I live in a low population area. Meaning there's no one local to sell to.
>>108985948It's an interesting topic of discussion; what is fine? Human nature is co operative or it should be.I can't deny that the way I do things would leave you with a headache, and I will stress you're absolutely right to put the blame on companies and expect the worst out of them. But obviously I am right in my overtly polite approach, I think this is why I like 4chan in general, I can just "be polite" and get my way, whereas anons with an attitude get told to pound sand.Just like how I can be polite, I can also be reasonable.
