Getting rejected at final stage just breaks me. Going through months and multiple rounds just to get rejected in final round sucks.
I had two job offers, then asked both of them 24h to let me think. They agreed, and both rescinded the next day.

>>109066149Alas, I guess I might as well post this and get some feelers.I feel stuck at my role, again. Same dumb shit, same fucking anxiety and stress and waiting on retards, same dumb as doorknobs desktop admin bullshit. This week has been especially bad. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells and none of the usual self-care shit is breaking the funk. Felt this shit before, chronically stressed, levels don't drop for weeks, months.I've discussed with manager at 1on1 about my trajectory, but I don't really see a fucking growth pattern there. I want to do devops, but I think that's because it sounds cool, not because it's actually worth a fuck career wise. It'd be cool to manage infrastructure I think, but I'm not sure how to get into it other than books and certs. To make matters worse, I'm a bit in the doghouse with my manager right now, he was talking about a few things I dun goofed, but he knows we'll pick back up so he knows all will be well. Still, my insecurities can create nightmares in my body.I'm not going to quit like a bitch though, if they wanna fire me I'll drag them through their own self-created bureaucracy, but I have to wonder if 1: I can find a decent IT gig that isnt fucking desktop babysitting in DevOps land or Infraland, and 2: If it's less stressful, and 3: If looking elsewhere is wiser than trying to fight my way through my current job. I know it's fucking rough out there, what with the AI job cuts, the Indian redeemers redeeming the jobs, and the recession everybody is pretending isn't a recession. Seems like the IT gig is more of a joke than ever before.
Work sucks.... I KNOW
At the start of this year, I jumped ship to a new company after being at my last company for only 9 months (salary went from $215k -> $250k). Now after only 6 months here, I am already getting recruited to roles that are way more interesting (and more pay: $350k-400k+ base). I feel like a lot of my peers are also now jumping ship < 1 year more often. Has anyone here developed a mental 'when should I jump ship' heuristic to think about these opportunities?
>>109066403All of them, that's what is so awful.
>>109066432well.. what do you expect when you fail technical rounds? thats kind of on you. not getting past behaviorals or talking interviews is understandable as an autist, but if youre an autist and youre shit at the engineering, what do you expect to happen
>>109066427Most get the itch around 2nd year mark once they get enough job experience to backup another technical interview. Then they hop out during summer time since their kids are out of school. Very common occurrence since the great depression and exacerbated during 2008 financial crisis. Now it feels like with WFH being a thing for smaller companies its almost yearly.
>>109066451>When you fail, that's your fault autist, by the way you're a fucking autist and you don't feel bad enough about yourself.Wow somebody take your computer away from you you parasitic asshole.
>>109066480who is having kids straight out of college wtf
>>109066485>>When you fail, that's your fault autistCorrect. Self pity doesn't get offers. Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Your interviewer wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own.
>>109066495Bro women drop out of college because they have kids. Its half the reason why they are there. "Get a rich husband with a future as a lawyer/doctor/engineer" is often what they are told by their mothers.

have you ever been filtered by a concept at work? I'm stumped, this is bad
Realistically speaking, how much power does a manager in FAANG has to force open a new position? My manager keeps telling me how great I am and shit, but also I'm a contractor and he's saying because of the overhiring in our org he literally can't turn me full time and I will be yeeted in a couple of months. I kind of want to believe him because I'm of a subject matter expert on a very important stream that has like 80 weeks efforts worth of business requirements that he will be forced to drop because we don't have the numbers, and for the rest of my teammates the knowledge and will need a great time to onboard to this but still, nigga couldn't you just seethe enough to your manager for one extra spot? The overhiring shit didn't even involve our team and the business team will eat him alive for dropping that many commitments.
>>109067598Biggest filter at work is MPLS you straight up have to read RFC's to understand it fully since certs don't cover it in depth enough to apply it at the workplace.

Yesterday I had my final exam in compiler design. AI and internet allowed. We were given over 5 hours to design a language from specifications and to make a basic compiler which compiled to CMa instructions. I used AI because this is an exam, not a practice session, and I'm not stupid. I pasted the instructions and the sample code given and claude generated a program which passed 75% of the given unit tests off the bat (lowest settings so low effort and no thinking). I kept pasting in the errors until it passed all the unit tests then submitted. This took no more than 20 minutes. I felt so weird having "completed" the exam in such a short amount of time that I sat around for another 40 minutes or so until other people started to get up and leave. What options would I even have with a computer science degree? There are so many programs on the internet for AI to chew up and spit out that I don't feel like I can create anything of worth. I like making algorithms which is why I even took the compiler design class in the first place. I genuinely like computer science but it is so extremely demotivating when my 4 hours of work can be generated in a couple of minutes.

sirs 1 questionWhats the average pass rate from initial hr interview to second phase technical test, live coding?I apply mostly via linkedin and get a lot of initial interviews with hr. But my rate hr -> technical test is like 1/20.I even recorded a couple of them to see if i was doing something wrong but didnt find any major flaw like being too nervous, talking too fast/slow, being rude. And yes, i know how to lie but i dont lie too much. Since im applying for positions similar to my previously jobs. I mostly reply yes to everything or "i never used tech x but i used y thats similar and i can learn x fast"... the usual.I dont think im doing anything wrong or how to improve.

Halfway through my internship at a very large company and had a meeting with my manager today. The feedback was honestly as positive as it could be. They said they have no notes for me, I'm doing great work, and to keep doing what I'm doing. Right now I'm working across 5 different projects and have gotten consistently positive feedback. Then came the part I was worried about. They told me they don't have the headcount or budget to hire another person, so a return offer is extremely unlikely regardless of performance. Guaranteed this fy and in the future its possible but was told to not hold out because they are a lean team.I graduated with my Master's in May, so going back to school isn't really an option. I guess I'm about to join the sea of people sending thousands upon thousands of applications and praying for a response. Not sure how I am going to stay motivated through the rest of the internship if I am not gonna get hired, feels like none of it matters if there simply isn't a position available even though the need for additional members on the team is very apparent.
