Is a powered USB hub a worthwhile investment? I've been having some instability lately and I feel like it's because I have an excessive amount of USB devices connected - most of my back ports are occupied, there's an unpowered hub on the front (chinesium shit) that's mostly occupied, and I've been having issues with some of the connected devices not functioning properly after a hard crash and restart.

Got a second hand computer. It posts, but won't load the OS. I can hear a click from the HDD about every 5 seconds while it tries. The bios sees the drive and lists Windows Boot Manager as the only boot option. Which of my guesses are happening here:

the itsscale number is the result of "25/(24/1.001)", but it doesn't accept equations so had to give it the result instead
this can convert 25fps video to 23.976fps video (more accurately 24/1.001fps) without reencoding the video, while adjusting the audio speed to suit (with pitch-correction, if the original video was /not/ pitch-corrected, you might want to use a different filter to correct that as well instead of preserving it)
you have to re-encode the audio, i picked flac since it's lossless but you can change it to suit

alternatively you could speed up the italian track you have to suit the 25fps video and mux that in

I have an standard RGB image from a web with an embedded adoberbg profile. In the browser colors (gamut) looks stretched so you see "too saturated" colors. Not-icc aware image viewer shows standard RGB gamut on standrad RGB display. I want to touch up an image to remove dust and creases using GIMP, I am on systemd+loonix, and repost fixed image for RGB displays (web). Is there a reason to leave/remove embedded adobergb profile? Should I replace adobergb profile with gimp's default D65 profile, should I convert image to gimp's profile? I have wide gamut display. I don't know the reason why poster added adobergb profile, it is just an anime picture scan, nothing notable, but I want pick a correct workflow and preserve as much original image as possible.

So my workplace added what looks to be passkey requirements to our google workspace accounts. Officially it just says 2FA, but the only option provided for the "second step" (i.e. second factor) is a passkey.

Lack of ground connection doesn't cause that. It's usually a wiring fault with the case or power supply. Possibly DC between line and neutral, but that would be pretty extreme.

Unplug everything and check the connections in sequence with a multimeter. Look for DC where there should only be AC and vice versa.

most modern games have build in dlss/fsr upscaling support, so you can render at 1080p and have it scaled to 1600p without being as blurry as as running the monitor at 1080p (with basic hardware bilinear filtering). for games that don't have it built in you can use tools like gamescope to apply fsr to the games' whole picture instead (probably something for windows to do the same but i don't use windows so don't know myself)

Help me out bros. I've been having a reoccurring issue with my PC. Built early last year, running Windows 11.
Everything seems fine except video files, games and windows explorer file browsing windows will randomly freeze for about 20-30 seconds, this usually happens a few times per day.

It's always contained within the application so I can ALT+TAB and do other shit while waiting for the program to unfreeze but it's so annoying. None of my hardware components are being overclocked except for my RAM (DOCP is enabled but the problem still occurs when it's disabled)

One thing that happened recently I was watching a video in VLC & it froze, I switched to a Brave window where I had a Jewtube video paused and the entire window was plain white. I could pause and unpause the YT video and hear audio but after about 20 seconds the webpage went back to normal and my video in VLC unfroze, both those things happened simultaneously. Maybe that gives an idea of what it could be?

I've tried running Memtest86, Prime95 on small FFTs for a couple hours, both found nothing. I've disabled RAM overclocking & DOCP in the bios, I've reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, reinstalled the AMD drivers. I've reinstalled Windows (keeping files & apps), updated my BIOS, tried disabling hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. Nothing has worked so far and I'm not sure what else to do.

Do a custom install using autounattend xml file? Strip all the bullshit from the OS and just install what you want/need. Could also try a debloating tool, but I always just went with the xml file.
