Asking again, why can Imgur file URLs get overtaken by new, completely different images? Isn't its main purpose to be an image host? At least stuff like picrel is honest, but in this case old posts that use Imgur URLs could end up looking completely nonsensical.

>>109140512
You can try googling that mobo and cpu and following what someone else did if they posted it. otherwise trial and error. some mobos have an undervolt profile. generally PBO is good enough these days

i would guess it was simpler to implement
if you wanted to avoid overlaps, then instead of totally deleting an image and forgetting about its url, you would have to keep a record that the url has been used but there's no longer an image for it

That can't be that hard, though, right? YouTube had it figured out about 4 years before with their 64^11 = ~73 quintillion possible random video IDs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gocwRvLhDf8
Even if they just didn't think ahead at first, would it not be feasible to update the backend to prevent any new overlaps? Having been founded in 2009, by now they've had 17 years to try that.

I have 16gb of ram, two 8 gig sticks, ddr 4 3200mhz, cl16. I'm thinking about buying 2 more 8 gig sticks, there's a really good deal at my local store. They're a different brand, but overall the same specs (3200, cl16).
My question is: Do I have to turn off XMP and then manually change the voltages and such so all 4 dimms will work at advertised speed, or does the bios automatically detect an xmp profile for each 'kit'? image of ram included for engagement.

It's going to vary from board to board. It helps if you can read the specs and manually enter the parameters you want. Always run at least one full pass of memtest+ after changing anything about your memory config.

Is a powered USB hub a worthwhile investment? I've been having some instability lately and I feel like it's because I have an excessive amount of USB devices connected - most of my back ports are occupied, there's an unpowered hub on the front (chinesium shit) that's mostly occupied, and I've been having issues with some of the connected devices not functioning properly after a hard crash and restart.

I thought powered USB hub was the norm and yeah you should totally get one. USB devices announce their power usage so you could list your devices and sum it up case you are interested on which you should/could leave to the unpowered hub. On Linux/Unix you can list the infos with
lsusb -v

although the output is not very pretty. idk what are some ways of doing the same on Windows though
>>
>>109152312
Makes sense, thank you! Yeah I've had this one for years and it's definitely kind of shit. I'm ordering a powered one, not sure whether to put it on the front panel where the unpowered hub is or directly connected to the mobo but I'll see which is the comfier setup, back probably makes more sense because a lot of my more intensive stuff is hooked up back there.

If you are into some mighty mods and have a 5 volt power source at hand you could just introduce extra juice to the circuitry. Not sure if some (fancier(?)) hubs do it differently but what I've seen there's one big ground and one big 5V lane going thru all the ports.

Hello guys, any tips to get started with solar power? i would like to supplement the electricity of my home with some solar to save money, specially during summer. How should i run the cables from so far away towards the home? how do i calculate how long it would take for the investment to start saving us money?

Someone with a similar name to me has somehow set up one of my old gmail addresses as their backup email and it's an email address I no longer have access to and have not logged into in several years but it is still set up to forward emails to my current email address. Is this dangerous to me in any way? I'll put it this way:

Email 1 (his email address): JimSmith1@gmail.com
My Old Email that he has somehow set up as his backup email: JohnSmith1@gmail.com
My Current Email where I am receiving some messages from Email 1 that go to my old email and get forwarded to my current email: JohnSmith2@gmail.com

The messages I seem to get are when JimSmith logs into his google account on his phone it sends and alert to my old email which gets forwarded to my current email.

I dunno if he reset the password or something on my old email and got access to it or something or if google just let him set it as his backup without him logging into it.

Theres no way for me to get into it anyways as I forget the password and google wont let me reset it as they say they dont have enough info or something.

I dont think its a scam as his name is very similar to mine so I think he might have just done it by accident. What do?

If you're concerned about the size, I'd recommend MEGA.
If you're concerned about it getting lost/deleted by the cloud service, make redundant backups on a local hard drive. The "3-2-1" method dictates you have "3" copies of the important data: "2" local (one of which is the original), "1" remote.
If you're concerned about the cloud companies spying on the files, encrypt them with Cryptomator on the local copy, and upload that to the cloud.

could it be running out of some resource like memory or file descriptors? those having different limits for root and regular users doesn't sound unexpected

i couldn't find your exact issue but there was this about a different instance of uv_loop_init failing:
https://github.com/nodejs/node/issues/34855
no one says what the exact problem is but the person who fixed it says "it won't fix running out of resources but it will fix the abrupt termination", so it might be some type of resource exhaustion

china executes uyghurs and fascist states perform ethnic cleansing whether overtly or subtly. china's propaganda portrays uyghurs as filthy to the general populous in order to exclude them from society wherever possible and make it more difficult for them to find any opportunities while also just straight up murdering them.
china tightly controls information, and people are jailed or "disappeared" for accessing or facilitating the spread of certain kinds of information. it's well known by now that you can get your ISP to shut down your internet if you so much as load the tienanmen square copypasta. fascist states also tightly control information, state-organized book burnings were common in nazi germany and fascist italy.
opposing chinese political norms is dangerous, opposing chinese social norms is dangerous, and china operates using capital. billionaires could not exist under a legitimate communist structure, and yet there are several billionaires in china. china is a capitalist, fascist state.
don't get me wrong, I'm no bootlicker. I think stalinism and leninism are both fucking retarded. the itsscale number is the result of "25/(24/1.001)", but it doesn't accept equations so had to give it the result instead
this can convert 25fps video to 23.976fps video (more accurately 24/1.001fps) without reencoding the video, while adjusting the audio speed to suit (with pitch-correction, if the original video was /not/ pitch-corrected, you might want to use a different filter to correct that as well instead of preserving it)
you have to re-encode the audio, i picked flac since it's lossless but you can change it to suit

alternatively you could speed up the italian track you have to suit the 25fps video and mux that in

So my workplace added what looks to be passkey requirements to our google workspace accounts. Officially it just says 2FA, but the only option provided for the "second step" (i.e. second factor) is a passkey.
When I click it, it just says
>A passkey can’t be created on this device
and provides no actual information, and there's no other options, nor even any help.

What CAN create a passkey? I vaguely remember Keepass having support for passkeys, and I do have it installed, but presumably google.com needs to be willing to somehow interface with it for that rather than just saying "lol u can't".

>>109170796
Lack of ground connection doesn't cause that. It's usually a wiring fault with the case or power supply. Possibly DC between line and neutral, but that would be pretty extreme.

Unplug everything and check the connections in sequence with a multimeter. Look for DC where there should only be AC and vice versa.

Update, apparently this is possible by installing the keepassxc browser extension, and then it just works. Actually nicer than I expected.
>>
>>109171036
spaces are often used by computer programs as a separator, so it's a common programming mistake to see a filename like "512x512 blue nebula 2.png" and instead of interpreting it as one filename, instead interpreting it as 4 different filenames, "512x512", "blue", "nebula" and "2.png", so to reduce issues people started avoiding spaces in files, replacing them with underscores, hyphens, periods, etc.

Adobe RGB gamut is wider than sRGB which makes conversion potentially lossy (i.e. you lose some colors, since they just don't exist in sRGB), so if possible, I'd keep the Adobe RGB profile. (Assuming it's actually "correct" and not a mistake by the original poster/creator, in which case, just do whatever you think looks best.)
In case you want to post it here on 4chan, 4chan strips ICC profiles, so colors will display incorrectly unless you convert to sRGB first (pic related, original: https://litter.catbox.moe/uj2l38u332eoliic.jpg). Other websites may or may not do something similar.
>I don't know the reason why poster added adobergb profile, it is just an anime picture scan, nothing notable

upscaling in that case is done by your display, which really depends on the quality of the display. I’m sure you’ve seen HD on a 4k tv screen. Tv screens are made with this built in upscaling in mind, some have extra features for it.
you’re best off using whatever upscaling software your gpu has like fsr dlss etc

most modern games have build in dlss/fsr upscaling support, so you can render at 1080p and have it scaled to 1600p without being as blurry as as running the monitor at 1080p (with basic hardware bilinear filtering). for games that don't have it built in you can use tools like gamescope to apply fsr to the games' whole picture instead (probably something for windows to do the same but i don't use windows so don't know myself)

Help me out bros. I've been having a reoccurring issue with my PC. Built early last year, running Windows 11.
Everything seems fine except video files, games and windows explorer file browsing windows will randomly freeze for about 20-30 seconds, this usually happens a few times per day.

It's always contained within the application so I can ALT+TAB and do other shit while waiting for the program to unfreeze but it's so annoying. None of my hardware components are being overclocked except for my RAM (DOCP is enabled but the problem still occurs when it's disabled)

One thing that happened recently I was watching a video in VLC & it froze, I switched to a Brave window where I had a Jewtube video paused and the entire window was plain white. I could pause and unpause the YT video and hear audio but after about 20 seconds the webpage went back to normal and my video in VLC unfroze, both those things happened simultaneously. Maybe that gives an idea of what it could be?

I've tried running Memtest86, Prime95 on small FFTs for a couple hours, both found nothing. I've disabled RAM overclocking & DOCP in the bios, I've reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, reinstalled the AMD drivers. I've reinstalled Windows (keeping files & apps), updated my BIOS, tried disabling hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. Nothing has worked so far and I'm not sure what else to do.

Build:
MB - B650
CPU - AMD 7800X3D
GPU - RTX 4070
RAM - (x2) 16GB DDR5 6000mhz
PSU - RM850x 850W 80+

Task manager shows process' private bytes rather than working set (physical memory used), except the memory value at the top which uses physical usage.
Look at the process' working sets for literal physical usage. RamMap, resource monitor, process explorer can be used

Both metrics are used for different things

Hey /g/uise, so I have a Mac mini M4 Pro 64GB.
I am stuck in Sequoia because I heard tons of bad shit about Tahoe, mainly how the visual overhaul is a waste of resources, but I've been reading that MLX has been improved greatly on Tahoe, and local AI dev is basically what I do with this machine.
Do I benefit by upgrading?

I like the UI of the Asus routers. It really comes down to your bandwidth speeds and how much range you need imo.

Do a custom install using autounattend xml file? Strip all the bullshit from the OS and just install what you want/need. Could also try a debloating tool, but I always just went with the xml file. Ended up just swapping to Ubuntu in the end, because I was only using windows for jagex launcher. Could do both. Partition the drive, install windows with xml file, then install ubuntu on the partition and use it for browsing and whatnot. Then swap to windows for games that require anti-cheat.

My company's giving me $4k to buy myself a new work laptop. What should I even get
I have half a mind to buy a macbook pro but last time I used macOS 8-9 years ago I absolutely hated it
I checked the new thinkpad models but they all kinda suck, even the expensive ones seem to use midrange mobile CPUs rather than the flagship stuff

Depends what you have to do at work. I would probably get something cheap, toss linux on it, and then pocket the rest if they don't mind.
>>
>>109178762
They will definitely mind.

Lots of compiling but most of it will probably be sshing into a dev server. My current thinkpad with a 7840U is doing fine at it, it could be faster but it doesn't have to be.

Hmm. Any chance they would give you a bonus for NOT spending that money? If you're computer is good enough, I don't see the point. Unless they plan on writing it off as a business expense (I have no idea how taxes work). I guess just look around for something with a bad ass CPU in it. May save a bit of time with compiling.

How should i archive large directories?
Iike say up to 10GB.
Not huge by todays standard.
I just want to keep them from bitrot, i dont care about compressing the size down.
Im leaning toward zip, but if there is something better id like to know.

I want to play an ASCII roguelike on the work laptop. It definitely has the monitoring shit. Any way to defeat it/trick it? The dumb niggers I work with won't think twice seeing ASCII sprites but I don't want to get kiked by the IT department. Advice? I know we have crowd strike idk what else. Help a /v/tard out thx

I guess you could invest some effort to tweak permissions and hard- of softlink the files instead. I never deemed this necessary for a few hundred kilobytes
maybe it becomes worth it if you create thousands of these

the moment you open a command prompt for more than a second they’re gonna be questioning what you’re doing

Checksum accounting filesystem + backup trinity. If you want to make a single copy as robust as possible, you can use an erasure coding scheme like par2 or dvdisaster.
