what is /gd/'s favorite album artwork?
>>441761The Offspring - Americana
>>434266 and picrel
>>441766shit, didn't realize there was already an album cover thread in the catalog. oh well.
>>441761While animals is better album, idk how anyone can not thing WYWH isn't the best floyd cover. But I'll admit this is more /p/ outside of the singe mark on the top right. If we are talking straight-up digitally made I'd say At War with the Mystics was always a fave
>>441781
Emergency & I is kind of one of those iconic album covers, but I think that "!" is a super fun album cover that managers to perfectly capture exactly what the album sounds like, somehow.
>>441782Flaming Lips are some GOAT album covers for /gd/
deftones white pony meant a lot to mean back then. Not really an album cover but also; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgXziwl8S0Y
This is made by my favourite graphic designer every
>>441770Well that one's specifically vinyl covers
how would you describe this emotion? screaming in confusion?
>>442122Hysterical inquisitiveness
>>441761
There's multiple versions, picrel is the original that got pulled for using celebrity faces without permission on the inner sleeve, that showed through die cut holes on the cover...the later ones replaced them with "pardon our mess, cover under reconstruction"...but kept the same die cut which made it even more deliberately cheap and trashy looking than it was.Not only a very complex package that was tons of fun to play with as you slid the sleeve out and the faces changed positions, it was also issued in multiple color schemes depending on region. Not just cool for being complex and expensive to produce, the juxtaposition of that with the shitty cheap catalog art (from a real catalog) and the deliberately crappy color and die cut registration is hilarious and brilliant.

Toto is /fa/
90% of people who like candy claws discovered them because someone posted this album cover
>>441761it was pic related when I was a kid. My parents had the LP and you could open it up and see the whole space station. Now I like more minimalistic stuff. Maybe Steely Dan's Aja
all of rune grammofons releases are s tier
>>442118based boner
>>441761this one
>>443114...that's Bertha from the Grateful Dead. Great photo, but did some metal band really just use that?
The Church - Seance
>>443412They also did a blue version for whatever reason
One of my favorite versions of the album cover
>>444686it's this one for me, i like to think it takes place years and years after the cover for Power. Kanye's decapitated head has decomposed and grass has grown on the battlefield.
i love both the album covers from dust my favorite 70s proto metal band
>>444813Based
>>442122full-on schizophrenic breakdown, his brain is torturing him
>>443327yes (https://murmuure.bandcamp.com/album/murmu-re) and its actually a great album
>>443068they all look exactly the same. one of them would tickle the nostalgia the right amount to be enjoyable. but the uniformity makes it smell like soulless, massproduced plastic!
>>443430kino
dunno if this counts but i love the artwork
>>442082based dopethrone enjoyer>>444745same artist made most of the melvins' covers + tool's the pot cover iirc
unironically good album + any artwork by arik roper goes hard
>>445219Frank Kozik, died a month ago
>>445220my friend showed me this in like 2007 or 2008 or somethingi think it was called "jerusalem" at the timethe first track was like one note for 5 minutes straight before it changedit was awesomei should listen to it again
Love how this looks
>>445125i love this album. i've always appreciated the text design but i wouldn't have thought of it for this thread
Silviera's meltdown
king for a day fool for a lifetime of faith no more :D
>>445739Based.
I always liked this one. I remember seeing it and feeling sorry for the dove
>>441856Modern factory zoomer as designer cover looking ass. Even got quirky text down.
>>445220Great cover, until I look at the person in front and see this bad cartoonish art style.
the music sounds just like the cover
>>447041Spotify has been pushing boards of canada on me for the last two or three days with smartshuffle. I like them although one of their songs sounds like the stereotypical youtuber outro song. Kek is this how they became famous
this is the most fitting cover I've seen for a 'dark ambient' EP I've ever seen. title track really feels like this.
>>441761Not an album but a single.
>>447045Unironically yes. They were making lo-fi chill beats to study to (but actually interesting) since the early 90's.
>>446964It's the oppositeMost album covers nowadays have no text on them due to streaming not needing themBack then only more underground acts or the super famous rock stars like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd could really get away with it during the era of the record store
>>443412>>443413crazy shit this album is from 1983 and not nowwouldn't look out of place with some noise indie goth rock act or black metal band
>>441761I really like the many album covers from YMO's discography, especially After Service, BGM and Solid State Survivor, but the front and back covers from their first album's US release are the most iconic.
bit of an obscure one
>>443046this probably is my fav album cover of all time. i love this album too (or at least my memories of it) and thats why i dont listen to it anymore
>>445764based SGP enjoyer
>>442122It's always struck me as a panic attack.
>>446623I feel sorry, too. Being so close to that ebony earth goddess' vagina, a work of art that is smeared by that unsightly bush. Why must we humans fear perfection?
shout out to cal schenkelalso i win the thread
>>443327uh ackshually it's from a printing of the rubaiyat illustrated by edmund sullivan
hard to pick a favourite, it's hard to tell where the cover design is genuinely strong and where i just like the album. This cover has directly inspired me in some of my design stuff though, so it's at least up there.
>>445380I love this album >>448368
>>448368this album cover was inspired by madonnas debut self-titled
>>448372I remember reading that, it does share that monochrome with the splash of colour, but to me theres something more alluring with the way Madvillainy does it, just the square in the corner rather than as part of the title or logo or what have you. It's own seperate shape, but still complementing the rest of the piece.
it is perfect
>>445220unfathomably based, i love listening to it high and reading sci fi books. check out picrel, i think you might like it
It spoke to me when I saw it idk
Inspired me to attempt oil painting
So pleasant to look at
>>448328This isn't nearly as good as you think. It isn't even his best.
>>441761I really like Vinyl Wastelands old covers, the new ones are kinda meh
>>441761A brazillian classic that also work as a reaction imageNo Asia albums in this thread, disappointing

>>445220My demented old grandmother declared "This is fuckin awesome" when I played this for her. It's undeniably great. It was playing in my car once and my friend said "This makes me think of a sci fi desert". I showed him the album art and blew his mind.

this one is my favourite cover of all vocaloid albums. it's pretty rare for vocaloid producers to make albums since most just publish on youtube, so there aren't many examples.>>450503that one is pretty good
