When I founded out that Stults’ artwork was just a few photos cut out together I was starstruck and amazed as I found out the original pics he took off of the internet. Feels like he’s been watching a lot of those Terry Gilliam “Glimpsemation” cartoons from his childhood this whole time.

I mean this guy is a Photoshop artist who imports several hundreds of pics from various sources, so he can use them as references for his work on the What-If poster series.

Some weird kind of self-promotion?In any case, as long as designers don't lie about making the drawings or taking the photos themselves, it shouldn't be a problem. It's just a different medium and technique. Finding the right photos and combining them together in a way that looks good takes just as much time (but not skill) as drawing them from scratch
