i wish that i knew anything about coding because i'm pretty sure you could optimize lora training a fair bit based on a test i just did and a series of pix2pix networks i trained five years ago.picrel is a lora that was trained without using timesteps 901-1000 on the left and a lora trained with them on the right. as you can see the actual fine details on the lora without the max timesteps come out just as well but it gets things like color different. but colors and very basic shapes are very easy to learn, the noisiest 10% of training steps shouldn't require half the training effort that the sharpest 10% do.which is what makes me think of those pix2pix networks. i trained them to recursively deblur normal maps in order to enhance details for a mod and the 16->8 gaussin blur network took less training time and was the same size as the 2->0 blur network. the blurriest 50% of the work got 25% of the total training time while the last 25% got 50% of it. i assume it worked because what it was learning was both simpler and less important. i've still never gotten results that good for that kind of task with stable diffusion despite pix2pix being comically primitive in comparison.it would not at all surprise me if the same thing applied to loras and you could be spending the majority of training time focusing on those lowest 35-25% of timesteps. i know that there has been a lot of attention paid to the weight of the noise per timestep and idk why i haven't seen anything for adjusting frequency.really wish that i could adjust a curve or whatever instead of just telling training to completely skip anything before or past specific numbers

Might be cool for flat color or other simpler styles I guess? It also needs way less denoise to change things, as if it obeyed the prompt more than the source image. Compared to euler anyway.

i tried two timestep scaling algorithims. well three but i only finished two. i think that they were too aggressive in culling the higher timesteps, but also they increased the length of each training step by a noticeable amount. one of them more than doubled the s/it for some reason. that seems pretty bad and this is probably not worth it because of that.
