Afterwards I adjust things like if they will have a human form, if so their fashion sense while human, etc. The purple mermaid and the black mermaid both will have sheets and human character designs.

Was a few days ago, but I forgot to post.
16k, took 16 days from acceptance and a few days to accept.
Found this guy about a year or so ago and liked their stuff so I reserved, had just gotten a cancellation when they opened so I went for it.
Followed my prompt pretty well, execution is good. Good detailing on the outfit, stuff is pretty on model.
There's a variation with more clothes breaking (which I asked for) and one with no clothes at all (which they included without me asking).
However, compared to their older stuff, the colors are much more muted and the lines seem less refined, which is a little disappointing.
I don't hate it, but I don't know that I would get them again with this style, much less at recommended.

I have a similar experience with my obscure secondary, not quite as many outright failures because I autistically research any artists I request beforehand, but my early days of skeb when I still had more trust in artists than I should've were filled with about the same ratio of shit-to-acceptable.
Requesting obscure secondaries really is just the worst of both worlds, we get fucked by the OC-only shitters and also fucked by the lazy artists who don't care about reference because they know no one will recognize the character (and/or because they don't care about the character).
At least once a week every week of my life I imagine how much more money I'd have if the characters I like (or even just my waifu) were more popular.

can't speak for the other guy or anyone else, but on skeb I let myself go up to 20k. My accepts are all over the board, from 1k to 18k; the rejects seem to be skewed higher but that might just be my earlier retard days where I was more willing to spend bigger money on artists I didn't research very well.
fwiw outside of skeb/PR, I've gone a lot higher than that and experienced the same issues. Skeb/PR has a worse ratio of garbage-to-good, but traditionals aren't completely in the clear - I've had a few artists who clearly don't care with their art and I've had to spend more effort than I should have getting them to fix things (or just called it quits and refunded and told them to fuck off), though traditionals don't seem to have the same price skew from my own experience.
nips are just weird with secondaries, I fucking hate it. nothing makes me feel like two nukes wasn't enough more than having a secondary waifu and liking eastern-styled art.
