many say that germany made a mistake allying with italy. honestly i think it's the exact opposite. being thrown in a war unprepared, when your only ally is a fanatical dictator breaking treaties left and right that surrounds himself with enemies and living on borrowed time, is suicidal. italy made a mistake allying with germany.
whats this meme about italy being unprepared? they were fascist since the 20s and had participated in wars in Ethiopia as well as in the spansih civil war, how much more time they need?
>>16532084Shitalian cope, it’s sad, I know>>16531660>unprepared No just poorly industrialized, disorganized and ignorant
>>16532084It was not about time. And it's not a meme, it's a well known fact. Italy fought three wars between ww1 and ww2, one of which was the biggest colonial expedition in human history, with over 900,000 soldiers shipped to ethiopia. Italy was exhausted and those wars put on a strain in their already weak logistics. >>16532084Are you having fun in your turkish colony, hans? Sieg Heil! Ahahah
>>16532084The embargo put into place after ethiopia greatly weakened them. They couldnt really rearm properly afterwards because of that. Their vehicle designs were also not built for serious war but for cabinet conflicts in the balkans.
>>16531660No, no mistake was made “allying” with the other power. The problem was Italy actively entering the war. As a friendly neutral with an unseen military strength, she would have been more useful to Germany.
>>16531660What was the alternative in your opinion?
>>16533396The point is that italy enjoyed good relations with france and uk up until 1935 at the very least, and they were still part of the entente. If italy instead of remaining neutral joined the allies, they would've gained an easy victory, financial aid by uk france and america, consolidated their influence in austria, while also being more prepared thanks to them fighting in the alps, the front they originally predicted, while also getting intel from more advanced countries. And if they entered the war early, say 1938, they could've steamrolled over germany, which was still weaker than france by then. The combined forces would've stopped hitler in his tracks well before 1945
>>16533407>>16533438This but also with the british kicking the italian high command in the nuts well enough in order to give them some sense. People like general pariani, admiral iachino and cavagnari, or motherfucking badoglio needed to be immediatly demoted and/or supervised by better officers, like messe or bergamini, or even give the bongs the reins to people like somerville or cunningham. They could've won the war even in a dysfunctional state but this way they could've prevented huge losses of life and resourcez
>>16531660germany started like 3 wars by attacking poland then had a sperg out and attacked russia and then tried to invade russia which made it personal
