>More than 500 years>Still unfinishedSurely the city of Florence has the money by now.Any chance they will finish it this century?
Such a shame
>>16534602Eyeties are lazy. It is known.
>>16535865If I had a terminal illness, I would totes slide off that roof.
They finished the façade in the late 1800s so I don't see why they could not do it.
I also believe the baptistery should have a similar roof to go along with the duomo, and the tower should be pointed.I'm sure I've seen this somewhere like a what if concept or maybe even the original plans.I did this fast on paint so you know what I mean. The pisa duomo also has different roofs for the baptistery and the duomo wich in my opinion doesn't look too good, who knows maybe its intentional.
>>16535920The baptistery was built centuries before the Cathedral's dome
>>16535928Surely not with that façade but still, no reason not to change the roof even if it's older.I always found it's odd that the roofs of the Pisa and Florence duomo are inverted.
>>16534602I've also seen a Gothic cathedral with one tower different from the other. Christcucks are terrible at art.
>>16534602>shitalian work ethic
>mire than 800 years>still unfinishedSurely the city of Paris has the money by now.Any chance they will finish it this century?
>>16535992they should take the chance and paint it>>16535960that happens all the time but it's because it's costly and make of real materials unlike anywhere else who build things with wood.
>>16536118it's not about the paint. look at the belltowers. they're truncated, they never finished the spires because they ran out of money
>>16535953Surely not with that façade but still, Yes it was, the only later additions were some of the bronze portals; we have several depictions of 13th and 14th Florence and the Baptistery already looked like it does today
>>16536139
>>16536139amazing, I always thought it was made during the renaissence
>>16536125It kind of looks better this way, same with the Lincoln Cathedral in England
>>16535889>They finished the façade in the late 1800sthey actually rebuild it
>>16536290I wonder how much different it would've been
>>16536386That looks like Scandinavian modernist architecture without the facade.
