I'm sick of people cherry picking parts of the Bible that support their arguments and ignoring the parts that are inconvenient to them.
But that's the most fun part!

>>16809983The people who made the Bible literally cherrypicked stories from Hebrew mythology and the massive collection of gospels and letters in circulation at the time. They did a shitty job too.>Genesis Very interesting and profound allegory for the cognitive revolution and beginning of civilization. Clearly stolen from Sumerian myth.>ExodusTheologically retarded but fun origin story for your rules.>History of Israel and the prophets. Kings, Ezekiel etcDeeply horrifying and demonic revenge/power fantasies. Should not be allowed anywhere near places of worship. Some stories are ok like Jonah >JobUtter failure to justify human suffering and evil.>Psalms, Proverbs etcPretty cool. Sometimes profound>Gospel of MarkOne of the best stories ever written. About how people, institutions, laws and nations that are meant to be holy and just will often corrupt and hurt people. Ending is forged.>Gospel of Luke and MatthewTrying too hard to tie Jesus to messianic prophesies which is silly.>Gospel of JohnRetarded fan fiction.>Peters writingsForged>Paul's writings Half forged but the ones that aren't have some good theological ideas and I respect Paul in his own right for challenging the law which is silly.>RevelationsSchizophrenic ramblingsI'd also throw in some of the non-canonical gospels like Thomas, and the writings of Plato. That would make a much better holy book.
>>16809983That's the basis which allows all religions that have flourished, to flourish. The ability for followers to cherrypick texts as they please in order to fit with their existing worldview.
>>16810384>History of Israel and the prophets. Kings, Ezekiel etc >demonic revenge?>power fantasiesSo you haven't even read the Bible. I'm currently doing a chapter by chapter read through the entire Bible and am on 2 Kings. Nowhere is there demonic revenge fantasies nor power fantasies.>Book of Judges>Israel gets wrecked for hundreds of years by "Philistines" (Sea Peoples of Anatolia) ends with Israel going into a genocidal civil war and then everyone mourning their own actions>1 Kings>Saul and later David have to unify all of Israel to repel the Sea Peoples from Israel devoting both reigns to this goal entirely>Solomon inherits the peace after the whole hundreds of years of war and oppression and proceeds to build a temple>Solomon falls into various temptations and causes his sons to become evil little gremlins from his misbehaviour>Rest of 1 Kings as well as 2 Kings and all of Chronicles>Then there are generations of chaotic rulers and wars that ends when finally the Persians recapture all of Israel again>Prophets mostly just wail about Persians killing Israelites and long for a return of the old kingdomsNowhere in the Bible are there power fantasies. The story of Samson is the closest you get, but even there he dies in the end and much of the whole conflict is described as his own fault for partying and getting drunk with foreigners who hate him.
