The Napoleonic war, which can arguably be called a world war.The Napoleonic war led to the creation of the Congress of Vienna (balance of power) and abolished of the HRE which paved the war for German unificiation wars such as the Franco-Prussian war.Napoleons campaign also led to the Sardinian war which led to the unification of Italy wars against the Habsburg monarchy.All of these ripple effects contributed to the tension that resulted in WW1.Other wars such as the Balkan wars created the circumstances, along with increasing global tension from colonial wars and friction over global influence.
