Poverty is a fact of life. It is precisely this imbalance that fuels economic and spiritual growth. There is no sound reason to “solve” the “problem” of poverty.

Yes there is. You can fuel competition still, plenty of people are willing to work for someone, depend on or obey someone. Curing poverty doesn't mean everyone gets to go to space and have a ship or even an actual house.

For instance, I go to Wikipedia and check how many people live in the UK and its about 67 million but I remember reading articles about people managing the sewage treatment claiming it's 90 to 100. The 67 million number came from physically coming up to someone's doors and leaving them census forms. The 90-100 million one came from seeing the growth of the amount of sewage being spilled and having controlled studies on how much of it does a single person actually generate, since you can just not send a form but can't stop sewage from getting into the system(normally) guess who's number is more accurate.
