What is war and murder's place in history, does it have a place for today? I feel like any murder and war is now seen as bad, and it definitely isn't honorable anymore to die to a drone rather than hand to hand combat.
Is it necessary in the way of development of humanity and our perception of killing, PTSD etc.

Wars place in history is the same as it's always been. The Romans had a saying "Si vis pacem, para bellum" (If you want peace, prepare for war) and this is essentially how the average joe is told to view warfare, as a necesarry evil in order to secure domestic peace.

War is a form of diplomacy when other options failed.

This Anon is right. War is just a tool in a nation's arsenal when nothing else works.

It is not necessary for humanity's development though, while wartime does cause rapid innovation, it is more so out of desperation and may not necessarily be reapplied in ways which can benefit the civilian population. Competition however certainly helps against stagnation.

Or, Mr. Clausewitz, it's the vice versa. Politics is actually the continuation of WAR by other means
