What did they look like?

How much did they integrate into the Hispanic and North African populations they came to rule over?

Why did they prefer Arian Christianity over Nicenan or Catholic?

What did the other powers at the time think of them? (Franks, Lombards etc.)

Are any good books or online resources that dive deeper into these kingdoms of the migration period?

>What did they look like?
Vandals and Suebi probably looked like Germans. Alans I imagine were mutts but probably not that different than the others. Barbarians were typically joined by slaves and serfs in the regions they entered and other tribes like the huns and Iranian groups so it wouldn't have been as homogeneous as people think.
>How much did they integrate into the Hispanic and North African populations they came to rule over?
Most didn't iirc. They were more of conquerors than allies trying to keep things together like the Goths or Franks. The vandals were somewhat notoriously oppressive partly because they were arians and this is reflected by how their subjects helped the Byzantines remove them and how they treated the vandals in the aftermath. The Suebi were not regarded well by their contemporaries. They were seen as violent and greedy but did work with the locals, especially rich ones and helped the goths fight the vandals. Hydatius was a local Roman noble that lived in the suevian kingdom and wrote extensively about it if your curious. The Alan kingdom lasted like 10 years.

Arian which caused a lot of problems with the locals.

For the most part they were enemies of the Goths. Politics and allegiances were super messy and convoluted but a somewhat accurate summary is that goths and franks were more or less Roman allies who fit into the Roman framework and were granted territory and authority while the others were not and were in conflict with them. Suebi and Alans didn't last long. The vandals were more successful but were gone by the time the Lombards showed up.

For first hand sources, Hydatius for when they show up, Isidore of Seville for later periods. Romans sources tended to exaggerate though.
