What are the implications of the functionally illiterate not understanding that "church" is an exact synonym of "congregation"? Historically speaking?
>>
>babbys first greek

ekklesia refers to governing assemblies of the polis, for the issuing of ruling legistlation
see Athenian democracy

translated literally, it means something like "those who are called"
as in a summons
>From ἔκκλητος (ékklētos, “summoned”) + -ῐ́ᾱ (-íā, abstract noun suffix), from ἐκκαλέω (ekkaléō, “to call forth, summon”), from ἐκ (ek) + καλέω (kaléō).

a calling is important concept for Christians in case you weren't aware

Literally translated, Εκκλησία is a noun
"those who are summoned" would be the adjective "Έκκλητοι"
everything else is correct

>ekklesia refers to governing assemblies of the polis, for the issuing of ruling legistlation
in 50 AD that's what it means?
so lay Christians are part of governing assemblies of poleis? Or just assemblies?
Perhaps they are* "governing" assemblies. There would still be tens if not hundreds of governing assemblies, then, in the first centuries of Christianity.
>a calling is important concept for Christians in case you weren't aware
I don't understand the snark.
