>the loudest opponent to the white supremacist overthrow and annexation of the Kingdom of Hawaii was an ex-Confederate Army officer

Really makes you think, doesn't it?

>Liliuokalani as an absolute monarch. When the deposed Queen refused to grant amnesty as a condition of her reinstatement, she was accused of telling an American official she would "behead" the current government leaders and confiscate their property,[2] Cleveland referred the matter to Congress.
What a dumb bitch

He opposed it on anti-imperialist grounds, not anti-white supremacist grounds. The Hawaiis had the right to their own country not because they were non-whites, but because they were their own country.

Why are coconut dancers complaining about getting dragged into the modern world? Would they rather have remained inbred illiterate stone age jungle people or something?

>Why are coconut dancers complaining about getting dragged into the modern world?
This isnt just them. Literally all imperialist efforts in the 1800s were backwards savaged being dragged into modernity kicking and screaming. Seething over it even into modern day is just pride fucking with them.

Yeah, while modern leftists keep insisting that the American Revolution wasn't anti-colonial Americans at the time certainly thought it was so they oppose rule by a foreign power. What the fuck do you think "State's Rights" even mean? It means fuck you, you don't get to rule people from afar. What do you think "carpet bagger" means? It means fuck you, you can't move to a place and take over the government.

Everyone always gets so caught up in muh "settler colonialiasm" that they fail to understand that at the time regular colonialism was seen as being a totally different and worse thing, wheres settling and setting up your own government was seen as acceptable but taking over an existing government and state was seen as horrible. People fail to comprehend this distinction because they someone insist that there was some kind of United Native States of America that was "stolen"
