Lothair wanted to nulify the marriage with teutberga to live with his mistress.
1) He began trying to accuse her of incest and submitting her to the boiling water ordeal. She passed it.
2) then he arranged for some bishops to nulify it. Teutberga took it to the pope and he threatened lothair of excommunion. He tried to attack Rome without success
3) finally, tired of lothair shenanigans, teutberga accepted to terminate the marriage. Lothair went to Rome to talk to the new pope and got the authorization to nulify the marriage. On his way back, however, he died of fever
