Was it as bad as North Korea?
>>
No it was worse. You see, communism is when niggers and trann-ACK
>>
>>17271890
Of course fucking not, it had probably the best quality of living among socialist/communuist countries
>>
I find it strange that even today east Germans still somehow identify with what was basically an artificial rump state without a real precedent before its creation. Also ironic since the east, historically speaking, isn't supposed to be Brandenburg, Luther's land in Saxony or Thuringia but rather Pomerania, Posen or East Prussia. Whatever. It's weird
>>
Authoritarian shitholes are suffocating. No matter if they're well intentioned, if participating in decisions seems to be hopeless you might as well not call yourself human.
>>
>>17273753
what else would they identify as? the state who's militaristic unification of germany is popularly blamed for creating nazi germany? the irrelevant states they were before aforementioned militaristic garrison state unified germany?
>>
>>17271890
It wasn't even as bad as West Germany

All countries are artificial constructs. East Germany mostly identified itself with Prussia.

Holy shit why was Monster set in East Germany

Willy Brandt's closest advisor was a kgb spy, probably a jew.

It was a lot richer but it was mostly maintained by foreign loans and literally selling political prisoners to the FDR. Didn't have any political independence either, the guy who tried to fix the economic death spiral was couped by soviet orders.
near the end 1% of the population worked for the secret police, not ideal

With respect to political repression? Maybe.

Standard of living? No way. East Germans generally enjoyed things like subsidised food while North Koreans are always barely above famine conditions. The East German economy consistently grew through its 40 year history. Unlike West Germany there were no recessions, periods of unemployment, or homelessness.
Say what you want about commie regimes but they genuinely were superior to capitalist countries in some respects.

Yes.

West Germany pumped up the East through donations and favorable trade for decades. It wasn't communisms achievement. It wasn't NORK Level, but still very bad and it would have gone completely down the shitter if it wasn't for reunification
>Each year the East German government reported impressive leaps in productivity, which, after the regime’s collapse, proved to be largely fictional. In actuality, the material gap between the two parts of Germany widened. In order to concentrate its resources on industrial production for export purposes, the East German government neglected to maintain the country’s infrastructure, which became increasingly apparent as East Germany’s roads, railways, and buildings deteriorated. An acute housing shortage also persisted. Waiting periods of years were still required for the purchase of major consumer items such as automobiles, which continued to be crudely manufactured according to standards of the early postwar period, while those of West Germany ranked high in the world for quality and advanced design.
According to Alphons Silbermann almost 20% of all housing was literally in an uninhabitable condition.
Most of the jobs were useless busywork that should have been rationalized decades ago.
>>17273842
Obvious bait
>>17273753
The West German chancellor promised them "flourishing landscapes", but to the suprise of nobody that wasn't stupid, you can't build up a communist shithole in a couple of years. Some in the east are still mad about the "broken" promises.
>>
>>17274126
It wasn't directly Soviet orders, more like
>hey can we coup this dude
>yeah sure go ahead

An interesting read is a report written by a man named Gerhard Schürer who lead the State Planning Commission. He basically stated that shit was fucked, but the other leading party members didn't want to hear it.

They never had a famine so obviously not.

I would put Yugoslavia above it because it wasn't behind the iron curtain and had a much better standard of personal and political freedoms. Just economy wise then yeah DDR was probably on top.

She basically collected data on how sexually satisfied East and West German women were (how often they had sex, many orgasms on average). Turns out, women in east germany had more orgasms.
>>
Not at all. The DPRK was always a terribly miserable totalitarian state where human life is nearly worthless.
>>
>>17271908
That's what Communism is actually about, yeah
>>
>>17274280
No she didn't, she uncritically accepted the data gathered by some newspaper whose sole purpose was to defend everything about DDR

That East doesn't exist anymore and Germans aren't delusional retards who think they can "RETVRN" to lands where 99% of the population are non-Germans now and all the elderly Germans who actually lived in those places are now dead or senile.
>>
>>17273842
That you're the kind of retard who bases his politics off of clothing and haircuts over anything of actual substance? Yeah it's a recurring problem with low IQ types, all it takes is some circus to amuse you lot
>>
>>17273926
>Unlike West Germany there were no recessions
*no officially recognized recessions
People who grew up in the Warsaw Pact could tell when things were good and when things were bad, it was not consistent throughout the 40 years and there were ups and downs. Part of the whole reason why the system unraveled was explicitly because the 1980s was a bad decade for the East across the board, with de facto recession conditions plaguing most WP countries (Poland is the one I'm most intimately familiar with at least, but I can't imagine the GDR was doing much better when the country fell apart over a badly organized press conference)

People here always get triggered by Jewish in the early life section, but imo the real red flag is being American, ESPECIALLY in any sociology field.

Politics IS aesthetics. I cast my vote based on whoever has the coolest logo. I would have supported both communists and fascists because their aesthetics were objectively superior. Now kill yourself utilitarian retard.

Insofar that white means evil and the enactment of white genocide is is the creation of love, hope, kindness, and a belief in a positive future through the destruction of evil.

Depends on the country.

Taxes are pretty high on average though. You also get places like Belgium that are just a political mess.
>>
>>17274668
aren't people bored there? where do they channel their dark side/death drive? surely no society can be majority good, right?
>>

This... also isn't really a thing. Literally only ever met transgender people in Berlin. The Brits just recently outright banned Hormone Therapy for all kids under 16 or something
