People criticize the Talmud, but maybe some parts of the Old Testament are just like the Talmud.

The Talmud isn't a separate thing from the Torah, and it's not a holy book on par with the Torah. It was contemporary Rabbis writing down their interpretations of the Torah and how to apply it to Jews living in a post-2nd Temple world. Nothing in it is "canon" because they're not holy books, they're various arguments, writings and interpretations from various authors, some of whom disagree with others. The equivalent in Christianity would be the collected writings of the church fathers kept by the Orthodox and Catholic Church. The Church Fathers didn't agree with each other on every issue, some of them are treated as saints and some as heretics by modern scholars, but all of them are useful since it gives you a general idea of what people were thinking and discussing at the time.

The Talmud is just a bunch of rabbis arguing over shit. That's why I am confused when people like Adam Green try to hold it up as some jewish holy scripture.

I bet a lot of Jews considers it a holy scripture, like those "Muslims" considering some texts as sacred.

Well I'm jewish and I don't. Anytime its brought up on twitter I see thousands of other jews point out its not a holy text, I've seen one large account even refer to it as nothing more than an ancient version of a podcast.

>Well I'm jewish and I don't.
And what does your rabbi says about it?

Many Jews more or less view it as a deity, yes. It's why they hate Emperor Julian and love the Christian Emperors: they consider Julian's efforts at destroying Judaism to be an attempt at preventing their deity from being born, and view the Christian Emperors as heroes for having helped create it.

Having said that, Christians are the same way with the Bible, worshiping it and believing that it has magic powers, and Jews also do this with the Torah, so this is more so just a facet of Abrahamic religion.

Don't have one.

You just made all this up

He's a schizo who thinks judaism was invented out of thin air after Alexander's conquest and can't fathom his idol Julian didn't also hate jews.
And invent as in Jews did not exist as an loose identity before, not removing polytheism from old testament

I wouldn't call them equivalent per se. The Talmud is much more authoritative in Rabbinic Judaism than the writings of the Holy Fathers are in Christianity.
