"Since Sweden is held up as a sort of promised land by American socialists, let’s compare it first. We find that, if it were to join the US as a state, Sweden would be poorer than all but 12 states, with a median income of $27,167. Median residents in states like Colorado ($35,830), Massachusetts ($37,626), Virginia ($39,291), Washington ($36,343), and Utah ($36,036) have considerably higher incomes than Sweden. With the exception of Luxembourg ($38,502), Norway ($35,528), and Switzerland ($35,083), all countries shown would fail to rank as high-income states were they to become part of the United States. In fact, most would fare worse than Mississippi, the poorest state. For example, Mississippi has a higher median income ($23,017) than 18 countries measured here. The Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom all have median income levels below $23,000 and are thus below every single US state. Not surprisingly, the poorest OECD members (Chile, Mexico, and Turkey) have median incomes far below Mississippi. Germany, Europe’s economic powerhouse, has a median income ($25,528) level below all but 9 US states. Finland ranks with Germany in this regard ($25,730), and France’s median income ($24,233) is lower than both Germany and Finland. Denmark fares better and has a median income ($27,304) below all but 13 US states. On the other hand, were Australia ($29,875), Austria ($28,735), and Canada (28,288) to join the US, they would be regarded as “middle-income states” with incomes similar to the US median of $30,616."

If Gensokyo became a part of the USA it would be more poor than Jamaica.

For the vast majority of (actual) Americans it would still be smart to move there because it's unironically easier to open a small business and have sane food laws in Sweden. Despite the memes Sweden is demographically more sane and stable for families. And you can own guns, real guns unlike commiefornia. Cities are significantly cleaner and full of good looking people unlike ugly de-Nordicized American shartmutt cities. So what's a GDP to you? A GDP hasn't solved a single goddamn problem in my life lately, it seems to create more problems than anything, especially entangling alliances with parasitic middle eastern countries that I would gladly nuke.

But only southern Sweden is nice because the weather is not apocalyptic and summers are wonderful there. Hopefully we can make a comeback over the next four years Ameribros.

yeah of course it is. We can believe Stockholm has been mass-affected by immigration, but if the countryside and small towns have been flooded by Somalians, none of whom are capable of living a decent and productive life within society, then jesus fucking christ not only did the swedes import millions and millions of people, but also happened to import the fucking worst of the worst.

even with that being said, sweden is beginning to have a moment of reconsideration and is now beginning to say "ok fuck off home, its safe now" en-masse.

I'm nobeconomist but some counterarguments I can think of are that prices of goods and services could be lower, more widely available, or better quality or that the government "socialized" services are good enough (widely available, reasonably priced, or good quality) to be worth the tradeoff of having a lower income.

Also, I get it's not an argument, but

The US is a nice country if you have money. It sucks shit if you don't have money. Western European countries are for the most part nice regardless of how much money you have. The cashier at your local grocery story still makes a decent wage, they're entitled to four weeks of paid vacation, if they're tired of their job then education is free and you can borrow money from the state at really favorable interest rates to have an income while studying. The American working class sound like slaves in comparison, juggling 2-3 part time jobs just to get by, being unable to switch jobs because they'd lose their health insurance and whatnot.
