Germanic Christianity died in 671 with the death of Grimoald, King of the Lombards and the last ruler who sought to preserve the Germanic Arian Church.

Well for starters, Christians in America actually sincerely believe this stuff whereas Christianity in Europe is literally dead and whatever remains is sort of barely hanging on as a kind of museum performance.

Strange traditions, habits, fads, etc. tend to predominate when rebellious groups cut themselves off from the Church to form their own independent congregations. Even stranger innovations tend to arise when rebellious groups cut themselves off from the aforementioned independent congregations. Dissolution of religious orthodoxy into libertine anarchy is inevitable when groups undercut a previously held authority to justify their own congregational sovereignty. The authority of the Church is first supplanted by the authority of the state. From there the authority of the state is supplanted by the authority of the community and then, inevitably, by the authority of the individual. The politically pragmatic response to this slippery slope of religious division is a state policy of religious neutrality, which allows each group to practice their faith as they please no matter how innovative or strange, but this policy also tends to result in a de facto secularism.

Your church is dying in the only places where anyone took the autism on the right seriously, and it's been forced to embrace "charismatic" catholicism and turn a blind eye to raving lunatics in africa shrieking about demons for fear of them splitting off.

You can larp as much as you like but the realities on the ground are so much different than these threads imply

What exactly is your point here? My assessment is still valid. Unmooring any community, regardless of type, from a normative authority allows for innovation. Perceiving said innovation as "good" or "bad" is a value judgement that largely stems from one's perspective relative to the debate. You can base your perspective on whatever you like, but history shows that innovation follows liberation, and successive bouts of liberation differ very little from anarchy in a functional sense. History also shows that the main things, and oftentimes the only things, uniting any community of independent-minded libertines or anarchists are the distrust and hatred of the normative authority from which they had originally unmoored themselves.
