Why is mandelas actual politics so forgotten in the west
>>17279669Because it's largely convenient for everybody to ignore that supporting Apartheid was mostly done to support capitalism and undermine Africa.Even racists prefer to believe it was some kind of pure racial anxiety and not simply the CIA being the CIA.
>>17279679It took decades for the US and other states to actually atart really applying the sanctions. Prior to it there was basically none on SA and they still had access to foreign capital. Hell even after the sanctions several states like Japan and Taiwan were openly work with the NP in places like Ciskei.
>>17279669Mandela saved South Africa from what everyone assumed would be a Rhodesia style civil war. For that he’s praised by people with sense.
>>17279669Didn't he abandon the marxist line of the ANC once he got voted into office and turn the country into a neoliberal nightmare during his presidency? Unless you think black "positive" discrimination laws is Marxism, in which case you're terminally retarded and irredeemable to reason
>>17279712Yup. Pretty much no one who collaborated with the NP or was part of it was actually punished barring scapegoats. Dr. Wouter Basson is still working as a doctor, Aubrey Levin ran to Canada and got caught molesting male patients. The whole affair was very "sorry but not sorry".
>>17279712South Africa was already screwed economically during the 19th century when most of the country's wealth were diverted to the white minority and the exclusion of black South Africans from taking part in the formal economy.Mandela implementing Marxist policies in 1994 would have led to even further economic flight from foreign investors.South Africa was bankrupt when Apartheid ended and needed foreign investments in order to repay the Apartheid era bank loans.Mandela's biggest achievement was in ensuring a peaceful transfer of power and preventing South Africa from descending into a civil war and possibly breaking apart(which most foreign observers were anticipating as the likely outcome).
>"socialist" politician>In the age of peak neoliberal turnLOL! Sellout or pariah state, your choice "comrade."
>>17279860>Mandela implementing Marxist policies in 1994 would have led to even further economic flight from foreign investors.People were already bailing even before the change in power occurred and the actual change accelerated it further. A lotta people outright just abandoned their rental properties, property and construction and just flew out. It's why Johannesburg can't really seize and repurpose abandoned buildings, they formally are still owned by someone in South Africa or the world.
>>17279679>Noo da See Eye Ayy ruined Africa by supporting all the right-wing Chud governments >NOO da See Eye Ayy ruined Africa by supporting various anti colonist movementsWhich one is it
>>17279876South Africa's grew after Apartheid ended. The urban decay in Johannesburg is mostly down to poor management and corruption.Johannesburg could have passed a law years ago to seize the abandoned buildings from absent landlords just like Cape Town did.
>>17279878The one is that you are being replaced by brown rapists, you obnoxious pigskin loser.
>>17279876So hypothetically if you were to evict people and/or the crime syndicates that own them and went on an urban renewal+gang removal campaign there is literally nothing stopping some cunt from Canada who never stepped foot in SA and inherited his property from his dearf ather stepping in and going:>"wow thanks for the free reno work faggot. Can't wait to charge $1500 CAD per apartment."Absentee landlords are a chronic issue in some parts of Africa. I would not be surprised if the white suburbs in SA have an "absentee house owner who emmigrated but won't sell" issue either. I sure hope not because that shit is aneurysm inducing in other parts of the Anglo world.
>>17279669Mandela was a Christcuck and had a softline milquetoast view on the white/boer question. The boer cacs in SA should be lighting shrines to Mandela's image every month. With the 3rd or 4th more influential party in 1993 there being some of the most extreme Black Nationalists in Africa with an extremely active military wing and a civil war approaching in 1994 that Blacks would've isolated and absolutely squashed the boers in had negotiations failed, they have every reason to. Could you imagine what a man like Sabelo Phama would do?
>>17279885>The urban decay in Johannesburg is mostly down to poor management and corruption.Corruption yeah but when a ton of the people who owned these office buildings and rental space all bail it's hard to recover from that.>Johannesburg could have passed a law years ago to seize the abandoned buildings from absent landlords just like Cape Town did.But as you stated corruption and management issues were a factor. That and Johannesburg had a massive population of people who came in due to the removal of the population zoning laws.
>>17279893Cape Town had a similar problem with owners of buildings absconding resulting in the buildings becoming derelict and being occupied by various groups of people.Cape Town eventually passed a by law which allowed the city to attach the abandoned buildings if the previous owners do not respond to a summons from the city. There's no reason that Johannesburg couldn't have copied Cape Town's model with regards to dealing with abandoned buildings.
