particularly looking for the Catholic Irish displaced by Cromwell and his New Model Army's impact on Irish cities such as Drogheda. anyone know any books that collate or have firsthand irish accounts of the New Model Army?
>>17279744No, and frankly that sounds really fucking stupid and boring
>>17280099Fuck this faggot. Hope you find some, OP.From what I've learned you're probably better off trying to find a niche subject/topic yourself if it falls outside the subject of WWII or the ACW. Pretty much nobody will give as much of a shit as you if it isn't these subjects. This even applies to languages you can't read; I've had better results using MTL and copypasting key words and phrases to find foreign sources than I've had asking people who speak the language, since they just don't care like I do.
>>17280099>t. religion and haplo poster
>>17279744This is probably useless to you, OP but picrel may have something towards what you're looking for in his sources.
There are only two Irish perspective accounts I found in 'Eye Witness to Irish History' by Peter Berresford Ellis (2004 ed.)I'm made them into a screenshot for you with page numbers included. I can't find the source of the second one, "A Narrative After the Defeat of Rathmines" from 1649. No results when searching for it.
>>17280271You also may be interesting in reading 'Cromwell: An Honourable Enemy : the Untold Story of the Cromwellian Invasion of Ireland' by Tom Reilly (1999)I have not read it myself, but it's reviews and synopses emphasize it relies on witness testimony. Skimming the work, I found an Irish perspective account; pic related. There are likely more.As the title suggests it is of course pro-Cromwell, however reading frustrating works in order to access the bibliography is key in historical research.
>>17280237worth a try.>>17280271 >>17280304both of these are incredibly helpful anon. much appreciated.
