Comfiest place to live during Chalcolithic, during the transition from Stone to Bronze age?
>>
>>17418864
In Europe?
Iberia

In the Near East?
Anatolia

In North Africa?
Egypt
>>
>>17418864
The sights must've been so beautiful back then, I wish I could go back in time to see the virgin earth and the budding pockets of human civilization. Without getting raped and stabbed for my clothes, that is.
>>
>>17418866
All dogshit places full of subhumans btw
>>
>>17418892
Same desu
>>
>>17418866
>>17418864
What were the worst places to live then
>>
>>17420986
>What were the worst places to live then
Mesopotamia (just read how violent the period was), Romania/Ukraine (yamnas war raids started to be a thing).
>>
>>17418892
Same, I bet they were a lot happier than we are
>>
>>17418892
Unfortunately the Chalcolithic/Early Bronze Age might just be about the most rapey and stabby point in human history (proportionally of course). Massive genocidal migrations happening everywhere on earth that created most of the modern racial makeups that are still around today. So many men in particular died that it created a "Y-Chromosome Bottleneck" for the whole species. And that's before you get into the fact that the switch to agriculture fucking sucked. Everyone started living shorter, unhealthier lives beset by constant famines (which fed into all the raping and stabbing).
>>
>>17421554
I’d just escape to the forest
>>
>>17421587
That's the thing though, this is the point in history where all the agriculturalists were moving into the forests and killing the people who lived there.
>>
>>17421592
I thought it was believed that (at least in Ireland) hunter gatherers took agricultural women as wives and it happened that way
>>
>>17418866
>In Europe?
>Iberia
You are retarded.
>In the Near East?
>Anatolia
You are retarded.
>>
>>17421554
>The Neolithic Y-chromosome bottleneck refers to a period around 5000 BC where the diversity in the male y-chromosome dropped precipitously, to a level equivalent to reproduction occurring with a ratio between men and women of 1:17
Holy fucking based. That would be the dream, just me and the boys, walking in a straight line and killing and fucking anything that moves.
>>
>>17421848
We have always cared for our sick, mothers have always loved their children. Killing and violence don't make us human. You're salivating over an era of unthinkable tragedy, when I guarantee you the people living that time period would've given anything for peace for themselves and their families. We are living the dream of eons upon eons of our ancestors.
>>
>>17418864
Were most people still living in caves by the time the first city was built?
>>

>>
>>17421961
Concession accepted.

>>17423117
The great lakes. Yes I am biased because it is already I have already spent my entire life, I don't care. These are the best lands on Earth and I'd live here any time and be happy.
>>
>>17421992
Why did they do it?

I don’t think so, our lives are stressful as fuck and we aren’t very healthy or safe.

too cold

I'm Mexican but I just know I would get BTFO'd surviving in the elements in my home, I have zero survival knowledge, and if the heat didn't get me the insects would. Maybe a valley in the mid-west/southern US somewhere

Merely being told they would be virtually guaranteed to eat almost every single day of their and their children's lives would sell them on it.

Cannibalism doesn't even seem to have been that common in the LBK culture, so it appears to just have been an especially brutal war party
>>
>>17418892
Earth was definitely not a virgin back then. She got gaped by the moon and a meteor before humans' ancestors showed up.
>>

Yes lets live where all the warbands are raiding

>You're salivating over an era of unthinkable
Based and pretty
I always catch myself imagining how good it would be to be able to live off armed conflicts. killing a tribe, regardless of age. with a kilometer-long ballast of blood in my hands with the memory and desire to continue fueled by the words of my enemies on the ground bloody begging for their lives and their women asking for clemency, all for my laughter to take over the place

Seething?
Did my post torment you? If it makes you feel better, I literally got kicked out of school twice for fighting and once had to get my arm replaced because I "lost" the fight. I like the feeling of adrenaline in the fight. and I've been doing kung-fu for 2 years
>>
>>17426644
I like what you're saying, but I don't like the odds of taking an arrow to the face before I even get to swing my sword. Warriors are wagecvcks subject to the whims of retarded generals and kings—they didn't even fucking have armor in that time period.

The way to go is to be a banditchad. Hide out with your bros along the forest path, brutally kill vulnerable travelers, rape the women and keep them as pets, torture niggas to pass the time, etc etc. You get bored? Just move away, start a family, act like nothing happened. Can you imagine how fucking easy it was to be a serial killer in a time without cameras or modern law enforcement?

What was before Mesopotamia's first cities? Were they just a collection of villages for centuries or millenia and then they slowly grew bigger and power consolidated?
>>
>>17430776

There were villages which were largely self sufficient on the Tigris and Euphrates and then there were proto-temple economies. The transition to cities would have been slow and as more people consolidated sacred sites. They had tools , metallurgy, animal husbandry and widespread trade. From what I remember that transition to larger houses was very slow, the transition from the Ubaid period to the Uruk period is the most mysterious for archeologists and Mesopotamian experts sadly because they only have Uruk to go from.
>>
>>17429530
I've been there, really cool place and the guided tour is very interesting. My hometown had a similar wall during the same time period, unfortunately only a very small section of its foundations remains. It would have been a very interesting place to live in since it was pretty big back then, about 2000 people according to one of the archeologists in charge of the excavation site.

Baby murderers get their ass kicked in war
You also need to be 18 to post here
>>
>>17426539
Imagine getting to raze this to the ground along with your bros and then enslaving the populace and impregnating their women. Rebuilding, managing territory? Leave all that boring stuff to the crown, let's keep raping and burning down the heathen savages bro. God Conquistadores were so based
>>
The Hwan Empire had higher living standards than the Finnish Khaganate.

Irrigation introduced a new kind of scarcity, and developments in weapon technology meant that now a few, suddenly better-armed people could assert their control. Probably literally just began as dominant families placing themselves on strategic points where the river fed several families' farms, and it just grew from there

I remember reading about one of the neolithic massacres and most the adult men had smashed legs and many were finished off with head blows, one poor fucker had his femur cleaved in two by a spear. That would not have been fun.
>>
>>17434913
Does this mean they fought weird, or that they were torturing and killing defeated enemies?
