Is this God’s plan? Is the idea that in his first coming, Jesus brings down God’s instructions for how to be a good person, and at the end of time/second coming, the idea is to see who followed the instructions and to execute retribution upon those that didn’t? If so, that makes perfect sense to me.

It’s a self realization process because the alternative is literally death. Choose no other Gods before me, because there are no other Gods. We’re just children, we are lost sheep in the darkness, even at this stage of awakening. But you’ve read the story and not sure you’re cut out for it because you’re worried you’ll have to go through all that stuff. You will.
