Ever notice how insidious bolshie propaganda is? As with everything communist, this poster seems to hold a double meaning. Overtly, the veiled babushka shouts “KNIGI/books” in an effort to spread literacy in the Soviet Union. Covertly, this Baba Yaga-type hag encourages one to SNITCH (on anyone, including family members) and to FRAME (innocent people one simply happens not to like). The GULag, after all, does not discriminate: the GULag needs slave-labor.
