why have these countries collectively decided they should let america be the dominant hegemon around the post wwii globe? We are being told to question every established narrative, yet at the same time, we are expected to believe that everything America does is inherently good for the entire world.
>why did (mostly small states that weren't even able to sway their neighbors) and (states ravaged by the largest war in human history) allow the state that was offering them protection and economic assistance against the very local giga power threat just allow the US to do whatever
>>17436119The Current System of Relations and Power Dynamics was constructed in the Early Post-WW2 Era and Was further Amplified and Justified to exist by the Soviet Land Threat in Eastern and Central Europe. After the Initiation of Unipolarity European Nations had through circumstancial and Intentional Means Abandoned the identity of Expeditionary world Powers. The US During the 1990's was the most powerful Nation State to have ever existed. Opportunity For European Separation and Re-Domination has been scarce.
>>17436119Germany was essentially beaten into submission after the humiliation that was the world wars and the 20th century.France suffered far less but is far less stable due to a deeply ingrained hatred of nationalism and an extreme tendency to have various polarized groups, like hardliner Catholics, Huguenots, extreme liberals and atheists, etc. Even communists now. Plus all the old ethnic and linguistic groups that got suppressed during the Napoleonic era are coming back out of the woodwork. That being said I think France has a wider influence and legacy than Germany because of its former colonies, but Germany has a much stronger national identity.
