Genuinely what the fuck made Nazi Germany so fucking bad in the field of intelligence and counter intelligence? Reading up on it, it's almost like a running gag of them just bungling it up and getting outplayed by MI6 and the NKVD. Literally not a single successful infiltration in Britain, OKW riddled with Soviet moles, Enigma cracked by Bletchley Park, attempts at American infiltration literally last a week before getting caught, chief of the Abwehr was a literal British agent for years, estimates of Red Army divisions and size was off the mark by "just" 200 divisions, etc. What was the most successful German intelligence coup of WWII? It just seems like they got taken for a ride all the way through
>>17439934Some peoples are innately good at being spies ex: Brits & RussiansSome people suck at it ex: Germans and American Mormons (FBI)
>>17440158Germans are excellent spies, the Stasi was arch-villain tier for the NATO powers and the CIA was so desperate that they stooped low enough to basically beg Markus Wolf to tell them who the moles were. It's just the Nazis themselves were bad at it.
>>17439934The nazis were ultra chuuni, which isn't the type of personality that's good at glowwork.
