Was Japan annexing Indochina a terrible decision in hindsight?
>>
>>18271015
No, it taught indonesians how to holocaust commie fucks.

Why can't you just talk normally instead of being so aggressive? What happened to "netiquette?" I feel so sad when I see this way of speaking is normal not only online, but in-person now, too.

Yes since they were already in negotiations with Vichy France for access and it was initiated by a retarded general in the field (Rikichi Ando) without authorization from Tokyo
>>
Japan made a single big fundamental mistake understanding their geopolitical place in the world, and the way they were able to impose their will on the East fairly easily obscured the fact that the mistake had been made. They weren't dumb for annexing Indochina. We all like invading shitty places and exploiting and raping and shit. But these were the latter days of colonialism, not the early ones. Their mistake was not allowing themselves some way of un-annexing Indochina when the decision time came. Instead they started a war in which they were the underdog.

It's the smallest of their terrible decisions.
The first one was thinking they could invade, win, annex and keep ahold of a country like China. With no repercussions.

It was too big a spoonful for the Brits to swallow but these uppity Asians who were new to the game thought they could do it without choking on it.

The terrible decision was FDR using it as an excuse to start a war which lead to the creation of communist China and North Korea

America started the war with the oil embargo and Hull note
>>
>>18271654
Maybe they shouldn't have chimped out with beheading contests and mass rapes

Japan didn't want to annex China. They wanted to install a pro-Japanese government that would align with Japan and Manchukuo in the Greater East Asia Alliance

What did Japan apologize to Taiwan for in the 70s then Takashi
>>
>>18271661
Then they should have allied with the KMT to finish Mao off instead of taking Shanghai
>>
>>18271661
Manchukuo was a puppet government nominally ruled by Pu-Yi but ruled by the Japanese in practice. They wanted to do that to the rest of China.

And yes that's pretty much what a colony is.

Annexing? Nah invasion potential Vichy allies was a mistake.

I don’t know how you got here. I don’t know if you’ve been asleep for the past 20 years. Run and don’t look back for the sake of your own sanity.
