>>4786089>>4786087>>4786086Hornets are so ... bland. I mean, they seem to work for the navy, but come on! Compared to all other jets that they have flown - have you ever though to yourself "someday, I'm gonne be a Hornet pilot"? Same for the upcoming F35
The Concorde and SR-71; what ever happened? Captcha sux, quit using using "V" and "U"

Sorry but this anon can't work with this Captcha.
Sorry for the reposts as I'm just sharing/trying.

KAI T-50 trainers
>>4786676If I recall correctly this aircraft was participating in a DARPA project on trans-dimensional propulsion. There was an accident, and both the aircraft and the pilot experienced a permanent symmetry flip. The pilot landed safely, but he developed serious psychological problems because his wife couldn't accept his new appearance. The aircraft survived, but it was quickly retired because the backward lettering on the indicators and controls were disconcerting to the pilots.
>>4787709That was an episode on the twilight zone, too
The veneralble Douglas C-47 "Skytrain" military transport, and the DC-3 civilian version.Longevity: been flying since the late 1930s.Versatile: Has been commonly used as:- commercial airliner,- troop carrier,- glider tow plane,- paratrooper jump platform,- Cargo (military and civilian),- Flies in all conditions - from Arctic to jungle,- Used in risky missions like drug trafficking,- LOOKS like a plane you could intuitively draw,- Won't be (hasn't been) scrapped after a few years of service because of obsolescence.- Safe to fly, or glide when engines fail. This is a Renaissance plane, useful for so much and still understated, quietly going about filling in all the detailed gaps the one-hit wonders can never do.
>>4787716It won't be long now before we see 100 year old DC-3s flying in airshows.
here are some F18's I took pictures of. sigma 150-500

>>4788398Fuck I need to get over to Finland and see a Hornet show before they switch over to fat amy or some other disgusting shit.We used to get F-16 fly overs here in my town in Norway, and one of the pilots went to the school that's right below my house and he always did a max g 360 turn over here in burner when they did coast patrols. We have since switched to F-35 and they literally cut the throttle now over the towns to not make too much noise. So fucking gay.
>>4789151we had a few SR71s stationed here in bongland and they had to take off on one engine for air shows as the noise would be brutal for the spectators. I think they also used to do that in active service to save on fuel.
>>4789151come see some. we have two good airshows in the summer, last time it was the turku airshow I went to. there were swiss and finnish F18's and a couple of F16's too, danish and I forgot which the other one was. we eved had a B1 flying over. we are replacing the F35's to but in person it looks stunning. all the smooth lines makes it feel really futuristic compared to the other jets that are pretty much a 70s designthe turku airshow was better than the helsinki one, but the helsinki malmi airport got closed because communists wanted to build houses there. last time I was in the helsinki show I took those pictures of the F/A18. I had some pictures from turku too but I had accidentally configured the camera to ISO 3200 so everything I took was sub par. still kinda guttet but shit happens. the finnish air force will always show off the hornets in our shows

>>4821124Small? The Valkyrie was anything but small, anon. It was intended to be a deep-penetration supersonic nuclear-capable bomber fast enough to outrun intercept aircraft, so yeah, it needed a lot of thrust.

>>4821124>small aircraftThe B-70 was so big the accident that took out one of the 2 prototypes entire tail and damaged the engine nozzles was not even felt by the pilots so when the radio call came up that there was an accident, the pilots assumed they weren't involved and tried to divert away from the planes next to them which caused the plane to lose control.
