A thread for drawings of collectable creatures (Pokemon, Cassette Beasts, WoFF, etc.)
Human OC's are highly encouraged as long as they are always paired with a monster. Crossovers and fakemon (understood as fake monsters not necessarily fake Pokémon) are encouraged too.

You could have drawn them with some Pokémon or something and it would have been ok.

Female only split evolution. Two final forms: One is a bimbomon knight and the other is a regal queen. The male knight also has two with one that is a king and the other a dark lord. I might draw them later.

Idea for the lore trying to take Anon's approach (or what I understand of it)
>There can be GROUPS of design motifs, but I don't think any one motif should dominate the entirety
to the WB problem.
Basically something like the SMT races or DQ families based in forces of nature, prehistoric animals, forces of creation, ancestors, etc. They'll have determinated design motifs but I'll try to make them as ample as possible. All of them are, of course, cyborgs.
Demonsaurs: The true nature of Dinosaurs is that they were demon like. They weren't giant birds but vile looking reptiles (some of them can look like feathered demons to create something like a fallen angel) that subjugated weaker lifeforms. They weren't exactly evil but they were a threat to natural balance so they "somehow" got canned. Most of them died, the weaker ones got spared and turned into modern reptiles. The rest got sealed in another dimension.
The distinctive trait of Demonsaurs is their diabolical horns. They can be replicated and turned into cyborgs thanks to the discovery or fresh corpses near "The portal to Hell"
>>
Energy Angels: Ironically the most robotic of the cyborgs. They are invisible beings made of pure energy. Their role in nature is unknown (I have no ideas for this) but they can be harvested by humans and used a energy source. They seem benign so they don't offer resistance, many think they wanted to be discovered and harvested by humans.
Their distinctive trait are their energy halos. Their cyborg versions can vary from waifu angels to accurately biblical angels (I heard they are pretty trippy).
>>
>>775187
>>775188
As the anon who was arguing against the whole WB idea, and the one who made that comment, I can get behind this.
I think it's way more flexible to have these sorts of groups, that design ideas can be retrofitted into, rather than everything needing to conform to bunny.
Exactly how many groups we have would probably depend on just how many monsters we end up having, but in general I feel like there should be enough to cover the designs of;
Modern animals
Plants
Undead/Paranormal
Inanimate Objects
Mythology

Obviously your ideas cover Angels and Demons. And there's likely to be some overlap here and there, as well as discussion about whether or not there should be more specified groups. Like Modern animals alone could be split between land-based, flying, and aquatic groups.
>>
Deep Ones: Memecraft's fishes, molluscs and other marine vermin (not marine arthropods)
Their distinctive trait is bioluminescent organs. Be it sharks or Jellyfishes, all of them glow. They are harvested from the deepest deeps of the deep sea.

Wonder Mammals: They are super strong mammal monsters created from Wonder Rabbit DNA. See wonder rabbit lore to know their origin.
Their distinctive trait is highly developed ears (they can be rabbit-like or not)

Forbidden Fruits: Plant like monsters that are basically sentient fruits with vines and leafs made for hunting. Prehistoric plants weren't passive at first but they became as dormant as result of evolution. Even if they have individuality, they are all connected as a proto hive mind.
Live exemplars of the Eden Apple made possible their replication.

Prehistoric Arthropods: They are basically that (I can't come up with anything).
They are similar to plants in the sense that they are mentally connected to each other but only between groups or colonies ruled by determined Queens (their tamer's orders are absolute but they hold their Queens very dearly)
Their strongest members have crowns in their heads.

I should be able to think more subgroups. If you like this and can come with anything I will be really pleased.
I think I lost the few of human dignity I had left with this but whatever.
>>
>>775190
Yeah, please. I think inanimate objects could fall into a pure robot category. I imagine wood dolls being able to use plant attacks too.
I'll let these baby ideas and see how it goes.
>>
>>775191
Solid stuff anon. I'm wondering if there should be snappier, made up/mashed up names.
Like the first example of Demonsaurs. I imagine Demosaurs or Demonosaurs would roll off the tongue better. Energy Angels could just be Enegels. Other names would be trickier though if we go with that.
>>775192
True. Perhaps Inanimate Objects could be be called something like Robotomata. Maybe made with blueprints left by some ancient civilization, and/or all have this innate, ever-evolving AI that humans are desperate to keep in check.
>>
>>775193
No nomenclature autism yet, please. Is a waste of energy.
The inanimate objects being part of an ancient civilization is something we should keep desu. It's not robots but super special robots so it's good.
>>
>>775194
Fair enough.
For birds and general flying things, perhaps the starting name of Aerial Enigmas.
The idea being flying creatures shrouded in mystery, being the source of much folklore. Ideas of supernatural abilities like telepathy and invisibility and great wisdom primarily. Covers the range of wise old owls to gigantic thunderbirds.

Since there are cyborg monsters and untampered monsters, I imagine a thing where you play as a tree-hugging anti-borg guy and your rival is a guy hired by the main cybernetics corpo that thinks the player is naive. Man has to industrialize the planet and cybernetics are the next step. Maybe give him a cripple relative that is cured because of it.
>>
>>775197
anon I know you're just sketching and learning but for the love of god, please limit yourself to 1-3 lines per contour/shape, this chicken scratch is godawful and there's an actual good drawing buried underneath
>>
>>775197
I mean that could work. Only time I've seen that mixed birds with aliens is fuckin' E.V.O. Search for Eden. Plus it's a way to allow for some alien designs, granted the idea of Aerial Enigmas could still include things like UFOs and such anyways.
>>775198
Not the worst idea. I think if an idea like this was done, it'd be neat to actually give the player the choice to be either Pro-Nature or Pro-Cyborg, with the rival being adjusted to be the opposite.

Anon who came up with the initial idea.
I like the pull of making them Goblin Sharks, and the other design of a more literal goblin that's also a shark I also really like.
Only critique would be that the left one is just a bit too much 'just a human body.' The tail especially looks just slapped on. I think either going the legless merman route, or making him hunch over with a more exaggerated muscular torso would work better.
>>
>>775198
I thought it would be cool if every monster was a cyborg and the source of conflict was related to their lore. Like retards trying to open a portal to Hell, the WB developing a God complex, some retard trying to fuse all the races to create GOD but it goes to shit, religious fanatics trying to stop the angel harvesting.
An MC being an eco terrorist sounds like something a Pokémon ROM hacker would write or something Final Fantasy would do (I only played WoFF so I'm taking out of my ass)
>>
>>775244
I need him to look gay and humanoid (that's the joke) so I'll try to place the tail better next time to make him look like a merman without losing the legs.
>>
>>775246
Fair 'nough.
>>
>>775245
Yeah, I was thinking in a KR mindset not a mon one. However, I have to say your idea sounds a bit unfocused. You have the setups for 3 final bosses in one sentence.

SMT already beat you to it.
>>
>>775263
I want to say it can. KR is pretty diverse when it comes to stuff like plots and tones. So the only real requirements are that the good guys and the bad get their power from the same source. And if the monsters talk we could write the plot-relevant monsters like something from Mega Man Star Force or the episodes of Den-O where a Taro joins the party. But then the rest of them are considered and I draw blank.
>>
>>775277
Well I can't write for shit so I wouldn't know. Writefag surely would.
Maybe you should let me here pumping out desings(keep giving feedback and posting ideas please) and you should take care of the rest in /vrpg/. It's getting pretty lonely there.
Designing continuous original monsters is harder than I thought. I have to expend a good chunk of time reading stuff for the desings and it's tiring. I can still make one line a day though.
I dropped all the autism I had anyways.

Oh cool. Didn't think the puppets would be fitted into the angel idea.
There's a possible idea of making the Boy Puppet all demonic, but would only really work if the two were classified still in the Robotomata group rather than Energy Angel group, and were simply attempts to replicate the Energy Angels.
>>
>>775374
Does it have to be a demon? I wanted to give that aesthetic to the dinosaurs. Also if I put these as Robots then I have to make a new "Angel" because low hierarchy angels are humanoid.
>>
>>775376
NTA Maybe there can be a tribe of undead? Or if you want to get creative some natural angels possess stuff and the boy is one of them and it's an action figure.
>>
>>775376
It was just an idea, to give the two puppets contrasting theming since the angel theming was added to one of them.
If it's simpler then making the Boy Puppet an angel too works well enough.
>>
>>775376
>>775378
Or I guess it could just have more a fallen angel motif with darker colors to contrast the Girl Puppet's regular angel and brighter colors.
>>
>>775377
>NTA Maybe there can be a tribe of undead?
As long as there aren't any rotting corpses or human bones/souls.
>Action figure
That's funny
>>775379
I'll make it a fallen angel anyways, just to show how angels and demons are similar.

Maybe would have been better to design the monsters unifying them with a common weapon motif instead with arbitrary concepts.
That would have given enough identity while reducing the design constraints and mixing perfectly with the parts system.
Oh well, fuck me.
>>
>>775575
Wonderfully crafted rabbit.
>>
>>775746
Well if we're talking about stuff like that again, I'm still of the mind that there doesn't necessarily need to be a super overt design motif stapled onto every design for everything to fit together.
Having a consistent artist interpret design concepts I feel would be enough to make them feel part of the same idea. Plus, now that there's also the idea of a 'Natural' form and a 'Cyborg' form, that too also gives the whole thing it's own unique identity anyways.

I think a good example of sheer flexibility designs can have in a single series is SMT. For the majority of it, Kaneko was the artist for it. And the designs vary wildly, be they very standard depictions of the figure it's meant to represent, more subtle design aspects to tie an otherwise looser design to the source material, some even make very overt pop culture references. And yet it all works because it was all the interpretations and designs of one artist.
Even with Doi taking over as SMT's main artist, and the differences in design philosophy are very evident, he still on occasion does things like mix aspects of both traditional designs for a figure, and pop culture references. Even if they might clash with Kaneko's designs, they are fairly consistent with themselves, being my main point that a singular artist is the key for design consistency and identity.
>>
>>775750
You don't need a lot of things but it's nice to have them anyways.
This is not like the rabbits. You can have a goofy rapier hummingbird and a edgy flail Ankylosaurus and the motif would be super organic, the designs varied and the transition to weapon would be coherent.
Kaneko is Kaneko, SMT is SMT, we are we. We don't need to follow the same path.
I'll die on this hill.
>>
>>775754
Obviously I'm not saying we should copy SMT, or any other series. I'm merely using it and others as an example that designs throughout the genres are heavily varied even within the same franchises, tied together by consistent artwork.
Overall I think what you've drawn so far has all worked really well..
>>
>>775756

I made one demon saur by taking the horn thing to it's natural conclusion. It's not finished though because I thought of some world-building for the saurs and I didn't want to continue without deciding whether it was the right direction or not.
They start as an egg and then when anything alive and sapient touches or gets too close to one it bites or pricks it to fertilize itself with the DNA of the victim. A crab will give the baby crab parts, a plant makes a plantosaur, ect. So it can hatch into a stage 1 saur. The stage 1s are massive enablers that try to get their parents/hosts to give in to their vices and sin so they can feed off that to become stage 2. Then it will try to get a contract formed. Once signed and fulfilled it will absorb the parent and become a cool body horror abomination. Now at stage 3, it rampages to eat souls or something, and that makes new eggs somehow. I didn't think the last part through much.

I kinda want that to get shot down or reworked. The Deadmen from KR Revice heavily inspire it. And while we could easily get away with ripping them off because it's from a show that barely anyone who speaks English heard of and a bad one at that, and the whole inner demons becoming regular ones is wicked. you know how things that are too inspired by other stuff is. And that most of them would need to be hybrids of ancient reptiles and literally anything. The stage 3s should be rare though like 5 max.

Also, should I give it a tongue weapon like a xenomorph has for the other forms' tongue arm or have something freakish grow out of it?

Sorry but given that the project got canned(it was bound to happen), I'm gonna take it easy.
I'm just going to make some more monsters, complete some knights and probably just draw a main character or two.
So I'll be only drawing cyborgs without altering the lore.
Good thing you're still here, because I have the habit of turning everything into waifus.
I'm going to use that saur for the first stage of Lilithsaura (already completed)
>>
>>776084
I wouldn't say 'canned' exactly, but the move to this thread probably didn't help interest in it, along with the fatigue some felt of talk about just ideas and concepts without much of anything concrete going on. Unless someone showed up and actually started showing some coding ability in order to start getting it all off the ground, it's like you said. Bound to happen that it would just fade in interest.
>>
>>776085
Probably and all the sperging didn't help either, but it doesn't matter now.

Since this went tits up I'm going to unload the remaining ideas in my head for closure. First my own in the pic
Now for things involving other people's monsters
I got an idea for the berserk form. Take that tar fossil monster that one monday from a while back the loogamon-tigrex ghost for the legs and for the head it needs to be a solid thing with some yellow or puke green for what I'm goin' to post to work
Those three are the forbidden monsters, they aren't alive like the rest of the monsters. They only act without feeling or thought. They all share the gimmick of being uncontrollable and will attack everything randomly.
When you get forced to use them as a combo for whatever reason they combine a little. Like that green or yellow from the head seeps down and all their eyes change to the same color.
And we can have a decomposition thing going where the head is the start or cause of death (I'm thinking if it's that color maybe plague), and the body gaining the gross color represents mold and stuff decomposing the corpse. The legs become the end product of bone and dust represented by the shadow ghost miasma.
This can only work for the nature rider if we do that.

The chapter it happens in could have the shtick of the rider not being there because he's off-rampaging. If it's a silly thing and the monsters talk, they must learn to work together.
If not a side character gets the thing that makes monsters listen to him and hunt down the rampaging rider for a character arc.

And that two-headed plant monster should be the one that can transfer and/or eat statuses. Maybe make the heads snake and bat-shaped because they're both fanged animals but one injects and the other sucks to convey the gimmick. And the plants as a whole could be the ones who abuse statuses. That sounds like it fits as their M.O.

You seem pretty into it, sempai. Maybe you should try to make your dreams come true like learning to code or drawing. No one is more reliable than yourself.
I might try to draw something of that Iater but I lack motivation and/or horniness so don't expect nothing secure or even good.

Yeah, I could certainly do with looking up some tutorials and taking things slower. I'm mostly just using any experience I have from physical and mouse drawing and applying it to using the tablet so far.
Other than my own designs I've also been drawing some Ben 10 related stuff the past couple weeks.

I suddenly got the idea for a Halloween-themed /mon/ game. Basically all your usual traditional Halloween spooks, but one of those more domesticated versions. Stuff like Ghoul School, Nightmare Before Christmas, Scary Godmother, stuff like that.
You'd play as just another one of these monster kids. Whether picking one to have as your main the whole game, or allowing for rotating leaders.
Either way, you'd recruit other monster kids, possibly through quests and/or some kind of SMT Negotiation system. Maybe contextualized as like, a school club, or just a band of kids solving strange issues the adults don't notice.
I also decided that there should be a boy and girl version of every monster. Partially based off my much earlier idea of a boy/girl possessed doll duo. Just think it'd add a bit more to customization. I was going to redraw the dolls, and a few more design ideas, but my tablet is being fucky.

For some reason the idea of ghost baseball kids just popped into my head so I went with it.
>>
>>795746
Sounds like a pretty Level 5-ish idea, like Inazuma Eleven but mixed with Earthbound (I haven't played any of them though). It's interesting and cute but it doesn't look like it could be considered a montamer. I'd need to see a monster child with a more extreme design.
But those two are pretty good as standalone OC nonetheless. I like a lot the pose and attitude of the red one.
>>
>>795746
Isn't that Horrorvale sorta?
>>
>>795756
There is an idea in the back of my head that the monster kids could potentially 'evolve.' In just. Growing up. Like they'd all have a teenage and adult stage as well. Though obviously that'd require some finagling with the story.
But thanks in any case.
>>795758
Just looked that up to check. Certainly would have a similar vibe, though from the video I moreso get the impression of being more like Lisa or Chrono Cross, in just having a lot of defined singular characters to make parties out of.
With what I'm thinking, you could recruit multiple of the same type of monster. So you could have a whole team of ghosts or dolls or whatever.

The idea of making a spooky-themed type system crossed my mine, but it'd just end up being a less-intuitive Pokemon type chart really. So I think instead the best way to do it is that, monsters still have types, but it's completely about team-building synergy, between other monsters and possible moves, with no super-effective type stuff.
>>
>>795765
I feel like if you have grown-up versions of the monster kids you may as well remove that limiter and have spooks of all ages. Why not have geezers and boomers in the roster as well?
And for the element thing I think the way you might want to handle it is the way stuff like DQM does where instead of making a monsters themselves fire, ecto, or shadow element you just make a part of the status/info menus that show how each ones strength against said elements.
>>
>>795771
I dunno. Just something about keeping it to monster kids just has that jovial, Halloween vibe to it. Perhaps a compromise of making adults like, summons? A sort of 'my dad can beat up your dad' type deal. Heck, have them have different reactions depending on who they're summoned against.
Like, for other monster kids, the enemy kids would get scared by just a glare from the monster adult, or maybe be left in awe over how cool they are. But for any potential enemies that aren't the recruitable kids, the adult would unleash their full power to destroy them or something like that.

DQM is a good way of putting it. More 'Monster Families' rather than types. With the emphasis on stuff like
>While this unit is active, all Undead team members gain a regen boost
>If team are all Spectral, gain an evasion bonus
And such. Just stuff that encourages synergistic team building.

New tablet finally get. Originally started redrawing the dolls with the old one before it crapped out, so I finished that.
Admittedly their clothes could do with more detail and I really wasn't sure what to do for their colors, hence why I half-assed it.

I think the next pair that I've been thinking off between tablets will have a more solid design.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I'll try and think of something for the dolls.

In the mean time, an idea that came to mind while I was waiting for the new tablet was punk zombies. Ended up with the usual issue I have with proportions and whatnot. Plus the boy zombie's face/head just didn't work out with the angle and unhinged jaw. I tried to give them an equal amount of injuries/rotted away parts. I envisioned theme with more of the stereotypical punk attitude, but I missed the mark there too. Along with my glasses now being too loose on my face so I had to keep pushing them back up while I was trying to draw, so I ended up kind of rushing the girl zombie and didn't feel like coloring because of it.
