>>7120053They do make grey paper though. I actually have to buy some soon for an assignment in art school. It is definitely worth it to try out. Since the paper is the midtone, you work out in both directions, rather than starting with the lightest value and darkening. As for digital, I think even with just line it can help to tone the background just a bit. The screen is its own light source, even white paper is just reflecting light and is not as white. It can mess with your perception of value.
