When I normally draw, I get something like the left. The vertical line looks almost perfectly vertical to me. But as soon as I flip my canvas, the vertical line looks ridiculously tilted like the right.I'm assuming to most anons looking at this, both faces' vertical construction lines have the same tilt angle. So is it just because my actual eyes aren't centered properly? One of my eyes might be a bit higher than the other, does this mean my art is always going to be fucked? Or do I just lack practice?
>>7154211Could be that you're drawing at an angle without knowing it, like if you're not facing your monitor directly or if you unknowingly tilt your head while drawing.
The worst part is that when I flip the canvas and spend some time fixing it, I'll flip it back and it's still fucked, just the other direction. So I'll repeat this process like 4 times and it still looks tilted.Am I doomed to just have to turn on a grid for every single picture I draw?>>7154214My posture isn't the best, I'll try to keep the monitor and my head angle in mind. Thank you for the suggestion anon.
wanting to be able to draw symmetrically is as ridiculous as wanting to draw a perfect circle. There's only one way to do it, and your arm is not accurate enough for it.Just draw the best you can, then flip the drawing and fix it. That's how traditional artists worked. They'd hold a mirror up to their canvas, or flip the page and hold it up to the light.
>>7154211Don't worry so much about it, it's just like >>7154220 said. A lot of art you like will look a bit odd or lopsided when flipped, this is common with everyone.Have you not seen practically every artist make that "this looks great, oh no it loos like garbage now that I flipped it!" joke?
>>7154220>>7154249ok anons, thank you...

>>7154935i don't usually watch youtube videos about art, is this video actually good? couldn't you have shared a link or images of the exercise instead?
>>7154940yesno
>>7154211Free hand a drawing on paper, make it as symetrical as you canthen place a mirror on the center line to see how accurate you were.Repeat and aim to be accurate and correct mistakes based on accuracym grid paper may also help with this to start out in case you need to train your eyes to see it.You can also do this digitally, just make a symetrical drawing (freehand) then copy half the art and paste and flip on the other side of the centerline, overlay over your original freehand to see where you were inaccurate.
>>7155115So the main thing to train here is my eyes' ability to discern lack of symmetry based on reference points in my art, right? It's not some intuitive talent you're born with, but rather a conscious series of check-ups.
>>7154211I google for you.Conceptual deficits: Clock drawings that don't look like clocks can indicate semantic memory impairment. Special/planning deficits: Errors in the clock drawing's number layout may suggest impairment in the brain's right parietal lobe.
>>7155122Wait you're tellin' methat you can actually ask skitzo posters to draw a clock and we can tell which part of their brain is malfunctioning? there's a legit test?
>>7155218https://www.verywellhealth.com/the-clock-drawing-test-98619
>>7155122>semantic memory impairment>there is selective loss of semantic memory, characterized by preservation of superordinate knowledge of words, and objects, but loss of finer-grained informationchrist this describes me to a t.but the image says "conceptual deficit" for c and d which are tilted like mine. which is it?
>>7154211funny enough symmetric poses are the most boring imho
>>7155225whats also interesting is that analog clocks are going by the wayside since all phones have digital clocks in them, and so people are talking about what to do if this becomes a no longer viable test due to cultural shifts.
>>7154211Try placing a true vertical line in the center of the page before you start drawing as a reference point for your eyes to compare your lines to. You can use a ruler for it. It's not "cheating" because it isn't actually part of any drawing, just a visual anchor point.
>>7156314>It's not cheatingThank you, this is a concept that I need to hammer into my head. I'm not a superhuman, and even if some people can do perfect symmetry, I'm not one of them. And even if it were cheating, I'd cheat. I want to draw! Simple as.
>>7154211its physically impossible to draw symmetrical shapes.
>>7155122what does mine say?
>>7156421you're an unfunny, unoriginal coomer that will never make it, lost in the immense sea of other coomers with their only personality is "lol bro sex XD"
>>7156421Bro stop using stabilizer and quickly buy the lego.
>>7156421very cute elegg and very symmetrical clock. thank you for brightening my day anon!
>>7156519based. i don’t need to entertain anyone. like me or don’t, in the end of the day i know my worth and im happy with myself.>>7156540the elegg did have stabilizer but the clock didn’t.>>7156862no problem anon o/glad you enjoyed
>>7155118Yes, it can be an innate sense but this is something that can easily be trained and sharpened, like any other skill
>>7154211why not just use a symmetrical ruler?
>>7157532because sometimes the character is facing to the left or something. maybe i'm not using the right word when i say "symmetry".
>>7155740Anon this is a test for dementia and alzheimer disease...
>>7154214Not OP, but seconding this as being of importance. Got a HUGE monitor and started drawing left of center. For weeks my drawings came out skewed whenever I flipped the canvas. Grabbed a second monitor to hold my references and started drawing in dead center, everything improved instantly.
>>7156421The symmetry of your clock is a bit counter clockwise.
>>7154211when doing digi horizontal flip regularly, it's a good shortcut to have. If your drawing looks fine from regular side but weird when flipped it's because your "eye" is coping and filling in to make it make sense. We humans do have a biased side and percieve a more forgiving image on one side than the other when looking at a facial shape.
>>7157922Have you ever had this happen though, when you flip it, fix it, and then flip it back and it looks bad but just on the other side, then fix it, and flip it and it looks bad again, etc... in terms of efficiency it seems a bit rough.
>>7157911>Got a HUGE monitor and started drawing left of center.>Grabbed a second monitor to hold my referencesYou mean on the huge monitor, at first, you had something like> drawing | referenceand then you got a second monitor so your huge monitor could just be> drawingand the second monitor could just be> reference? That's an awesome solution, glad it worked for you. In my case I'm already drawing in the middle so I wonder what the issue is. The screen might be a bit too close to my face, but my arms aren't that long, I can't keep it farther lol.
>>7154211>>7155122but what are the Breast Exercises to Improve Symmetrical Drawing?
>>7159906holy shit anon!! nice curvy sex goddess. perfect clock booba. my only piece of criticism is that the facial expression is a bit too neutral and doesn't particularly convey any strong emotion.thank you for creating this bro. if you don't mind, buroggu?
>>7159906bumping just once so more anons can see this cool art
