>"rules are meant to be broken">try to break fundie rules>"No what the fuck that looks like shit!!"Am I really supposed to adhere to the fundamentals or not?
>"rules are meant to be broken"outdated proverb from a bygone age (modern art)
>>7155864"Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist"-Pablo PicassoNot my favorite artist, but that's a really good quote.Learn the fundamentals so you can have freedom in your drawings while making them look good.

Cultural rulz can be broken, not psychological ones.

The only singular unbreakable, true RULE is:Good drawings have formThat's it. You just need to achieve form, in whatever way you can. You can use proper rendering, you can use lines to show form, you can use perspective to show form. Whatever you do, the goal is to have form. There is no rebuttal to this. No response, go draw and work on your form.
>>7155864>Learn the rules>Master the rules>Bend the rules>Break the rulesIf you are still on step 1, don't jump to step 4.

>>7155864There right ways to breaking rules and there are wrong ways.
>>7156416>render impeccable form at a master level>looks like shit because the composition is non-existent, don't understand proper anatomy, colors are basic and bland, gesture is stiff and robotic, lighting doesn't make sense
>>7156453ah, the proko special
>>7155864>>7156440This. There's a difference between breaking a rule and simply not following it. Even when a skilled artist suggests that a rule should be broken, they insist that you learn the rules first, don't ignore them.
