How detailed do you reckon should concept art be? Especially for character specific conceptual art.

concept art as a function should be only worked over as much as necessary in order to deliver the feeling of the concept being delivered. Anything from a basic sketch to a full background matte can work as long as it delivers what the artist wants to convey to the people further down the pipeline.For example, Moby Francke here definitely spent more time fleshing out the textures and forms that give the silhouette weight for the 3D Modellers to work off of
