Hercules beetles are so fucking cool. So draw one or paint one, and post it here.Spend 5 minutes, 5 hours, or whatever. Make it human, make it anime, make it mecha, doesn't matter. It can even be dogshit.Just draw a hercules beetle. It doesn't even have to be THIS hercules beetle. I will be posting mine later.

Good thread. Will participate later. Have a bump.
OP's attemptStill new to painting, that shell was really hard. Any SAI users have any tips for those really fine textures?
Hope I did good

>>7293745What's the point of this? It's like a dumber paint by numbers.

>>7294713Trace painting over an image is never going to make you a pro unless you really make it your own.
>>7294904I'm not trying to be a pro at the moment, and i'm not sure I ever want to go pro, I'm just learning how to paint. Once I've improved I want to do more of my own compositions, but it's out of my scope at the moment. I used a mixed of tracing and grids to get the shape right, but everything from there is my own work. Anyway, PYW if it's so harmful, at absolute worst its practice rather than shitposting.

>>7294684Good stuff. I'm invested in your painting study month, fellow dad. Keep it up.

>>7295618Anon, I appreciate your disdain for tracing, but I think you're overestimating the amount of tracing I did. I didn't paint over the original image - zoom in and you'll see many tiny imperfections. I did a basic trace of the body and extremities to get the most basic shapes down, then used a grid for the more specific details. That's pretty common practice to expedite the beginning, and above all this was a study of painting, not composition or drawing from imagination.
Why would I waste my time drawing a beetle?
>>7298048It’s good practice
cool idea OP. Was fun
>>7300635Nice
>>7294699It's an exercise. You know, to get better at drawing.
tried to do it in a dynamic sketching way, since that's what I'm practicing mostly now. Should've spent more time on placement and proportions (I spent almost none). Also struggling with the copics.
>>7298048why would you waste your time drawing in the first place? Especially when you also can just post on 4chan.
