How feasible is it to paint a realistic piece without references even with loose brush strokes?
>>

read alla prima, negro

>>7348018
Sure but what does that have to do with painting without references?
>>
>>7348009
It's entirely possible but you need to practice doing it until you can do it well
>>
>>7348009
seems difficult to nail the color and lightwing without reference, animation and comic books which typically work more from imagination don't really have to worry about them. but im not a painter so idk.

craig mullins did it a lot. but why not use reference?
>>
>>7348029
First paragraph says painters had to memorize things. But in the entire text it never says they were painting a piece completely from memory
>>
>>7348009
all the masters drew with reference.
pointless endeavour.
>>
>>7348009
This is not realistic but impressionistic you pleb
>>
>>7348009
where's the "realism" OP?
>>
>>7348029
nta but this actually says that to be able to paint realistically the painter had to paint things while seeing them, or using photography.
>>7348039
>>7348067
realism is in the depiction of light/color accurately in its arrangement and relationship as well as the subject matter and their arrangements and composure. impression of things that appear in the real and ever-shifting physical world as the painter experiences it in the moment.
