variants of light for choice. this composition is nice. you can clearly tell what is going on in the piece. for recreation i changed the pose of the leg in the back a little to look cuter and a little more natural. she needs more of a neck, too. don't miss the opportunity for a cute double chin!!!! escpecially with that weight she would definitely have one. i did think to myself the broom is quite thin. But maybe you wanted that., also the details of the stars in the clothing are really easy to miss. Your watermark is illegible btw.

where do you feel your art is lacking?
>>
>>7355818
I dunno. Little bit of everything desu. I guess what upsets me most is it feels like I put in way more effort than I should have to at this point, and because I put in so much effort to do the bare minimum, I can't spend that effort making stuff...better. I don't know if that makes sense. I might just be retarded.
>>
>>7355856
Maybe it'll be easier if you know what you're working towards. Might help to reference your favourite artist more, or artwork that you like.

If you enjoy the process/act of drawing that might help you get over that feeling somewhat. You'll just be sitting there doing what you like and eventually the picture will be completed.
>can't spend that effort making stuff...better.
Is there a reason you can't just make it "better" after doing the "bare minimum?"

From start to finish? I dunno. The pic I posted, since it was just a sketch that I lined, took four or five hours. I don't rush, lining stuff is kind of therapeutic to me.
For something like this, probably like ten, twelve hours or more. Maybe closer to 20, I can't really recall. This was the last thing I rendered.

>Maybe it'll be easier if you know what you're working towards.
You're not wrong. I often feel bad for drawing stuff I've drawn before, be it poses or whatever. I always feel under pressure to do something completely new. Maybe it's just a mindset thing.
>>
>>7355897
I will NOT be saving this...yet.
>>
>>7355903
I'm at 12 hours for this one right now >>7355439
and will probably need another 5 or so. I don't think we're too far off from each other. This might be a non-issue, if we're not both slow coincidentally. Maybe other can share their time needed for completion, to get a better comparison.
>>
>>7355918
Nta but I don't really time myself so much as chip away at something during free time at work and sometimes at home if I'm not too tired or busy until I'm mostly satisfied it's complete. Usually takes a week or up to a month and sometimes longer if I care about making it as good as I think it can be, but there are also a lot of times where I won't go hard at every aspect of the drawing because I don't want to spend forever micromanaging each aspect of it. If it looks good enough and is easy to understand, I let myself off the hook. There's also lesser sketches I can do in a few hours or less but those are just for personal enjoyment or practice usually.

I don't know, I just wanted to say something controversial. I'm trying at an anthro style myself while trying not to make it just animal head and tail on a human body though, so maybe the comment came from that.

I get where you're coming from though. Alternative proportions can be a lot of fun. Longer arms, shortstacks, or even top-heavy girls can be very nice. It's fun to experiment.

Well I say that like most of my favorite anthro porn isn't human bodies with minor animalistic adjustments, and even in my own stuff I fall into similar trappings since I have a reductionist mindset and most mammals drawn in a simpler style could just be alternate humanoids on all fours. I'm trying to go for something simple and easy to draw while trying to be visually striking enough, I wasn't going for a 'mascot' style but the approach is similar so that's how it came out. I want to do more anatomy studies before really deciding on a style though.
>>

It would be extremely painful...

>Good shit as always, bird anon.
Thanks! Though, I feel at times my drawings can be a little too loose, almost look like they're melting (and this isn't due too the color). Need to get more "define" shapes in my work, if that makes sense. I have an idea where to take my work, but it's something I just need to experiment on.
>>
>>7355918
nta I value not spending a lot of time on just one thing pretty high, usually stopping around 7 or 8 hours. maybe I value that a little too much since it takes me some time to find myself a new subject to draw. Theoretically, I would rather move on from drawing I know has flaws I made on steps 1 and 2 and get to drawing something else that I will learn from more than trying to make my old shit look right

Do you guys think this idea would sell as an YCH?

I think someone shrinking their clothes by accident can be funny and relatable. This could also have potential for a more lewd tangent (like adding an edit without her bra, if they reach a certain price). That being said I'm really not sure if this whole idea for an illustration is something people with OCs would be interested in. For those "your character here" auctions I usually just draw porn, but I want to make something safe for work this time. Your opinions would be appreciated.
>>
>>7357665
thank you anon!
>>
>>7357876
If you can make it into something attractive and/or funny I guess. If it were me, I'd go in the direction of the shrinking sluttifying her clothes, like jeans shrinking into tight jean booty shorts or a long sleeve shirt that shrinking ripped at the shoulders, leaving slightly tight sleeves and a tube top that shows off midriff, and socks that shrunk into the sexy socks by ripping at the heel and toes. Maybe the jeans could rip at the thighs instead of shrinking all the way up, turning into booty shorts and stockings but leaving enough upper leg between them to accentuate some skindentation. I'm not using this idea myself, just throwing it out there. It would probably look good in your style.

Force yourself to do unfinished prelims/setups/doodles. Like, ones that are meant to be half-assed, purely to see how a pose or a theme would look like.
Eventually your brain will grow to be OK with leaving things as is.

Really like the loose brushtrokes of the first one, and I can't discern what the background is but I'm vibing with it, the swirlies and the orbs make it feel trippy. I really like the pose and the choice of a little bit of blood too, really nice detail that implies some action happening before the pic, maybe the bratty twink bit the other character's thumb, or maybe he got punched in the face. Many of your choices are pretty cool.

How can one efficiently make spots? My usual method is to smudge & blur but it's more time intensive than I'd like. I searched for some relevant brushes, but none that I found seemed appealing. I have so little experience with imported brushes I'm not sure I know how to properly evaluate them. (Enshitification might also play a part.)
>>
>>7359566
Make a brush from actual animal spots. I did that for some horse fur.
>>
>>7359595
I like that idea. Would you offer a few details about how you sampled that?
>>
>>7359616
Take screenshot of fur pattern. Convert to monochrome. Invert colors depending on how you want the brush to present. Convert brightness to opacity. Get rid of background and save as png.

You now have a transparent 'stamp' that can be used as a brush or pattern applicator. Good for unique textures in strokes too.

Hah, he might.
As long as the human man is not in full plate armor.

>>7361331
Thanks! I had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to do the armor, so I'm happy it looks satisfying.
Scribing as in trying to emulate handwriting and art of medieval scribes? That sounds exceptionally cool, but all I could find while searching for scribing was more corpo-meeting oriented, still found this pretty amusing one though.
I love your expressions, something about the way you feature the teeth makes them satisfyingly dramatic, the eyes also carry a lot of information.

I feel like this could be made better with not alot of effort, the linework on the jewelry is solid imo, but the thing is that the image kinda feels purposeless.

Its a goose on a rock wearing jewelry with some halos, this is the buddhist lord of the world, the core manifestation (allegedly) of all of the gods that they worship.

Buddhism has insane symbolism, 4 arms, esoteric symbols carved into reality by divine will, all sorts of stuff. Set him up in Mount Potalaka, replace the back halo with like a wild Dharmachakra, give him something to do with his posture, it looks like a blessing pose.

All sorts of things to do with this, but the last thing to do is be discouraged!

sometimes, sometimes not, visual library from thousand studies allows to draw certain things without refs, but for detailed and properly rendered drawings i usually find refs beforehand.

Drawing, even if it isn't good, it feels nice to put my heart into a creative project again. And, honestly...that's what counts here for me.

I just realized that the way that the lower attempt at a snout connecting point is at, it looks like the neck of that one visual novel horse which is just, a horse with a human face. I....really need to focus in on proportions.

>have some sort of a creative outlet

>abscence of interviews
We pretty much started almost with a similar background.

>I'm still continuing to practice, and I'm going to be trying
Anyway, don't worry, it's just the start, and it's normal having extreme symbolization. Just remember that this is a discipline just like any subject, and needs study and practice.
Despite I still have so much to learn, I did something I never believed I could do before.

>cubes instead of circles
Personally I don't like them for the face, but the reason why you would use a cube, whether you are doing a torso or a face, is to have a clear direction, since the circle has an ambiguous direction.

Why so passive-aggressive?

>>7370282
Being a passive aggressive snarky brat is VERY satisfying if completely unhelpful

Does this look alright?

t.thought it seemed good, but took a break, and when I came back, it just looked "wrong" to me

Classic banana nose, you want to draw it head-on while the head itself has a yaw and a roll to it. Try pushing it to the side.

Thanks
I added a few layers of darker pencil to it after that.
Though with some more planning or forethough I would have maybe made the ears stand out a bit instead of being a gray mess
Teeth are fun, I forgot just how fun
