thread challenge
Final changes from the perspective drawing I posted last thread. Thanks to all that helped. I’m gonna let this one go for now but continue to observe what went wrong and will post more perspective drawings for crit
>>7369143
>Didnt make it to the op againFUCK
>>7369128
>>7369146Keep in mind that if objects are parallel to each other, like wall paintings and the loveseat standing against the wall, they will use the same VP.This picture has pretty extreme perspective by the way, typically 1 point perspective drawings have a VP inside of the frame. Try putting it outside of your canvas for a more realistic picture.Picrel - the kind of perspective where you would see a VP inside the frame.Good luck!
>>7369155Note the chair and ceiling lamp having different VPs, to break up the monotony of 1 point
>>7369128This is fucking hilarious lmao >>7369155Thanks for the help. Lots to think about when doing these drawings
>No one likes the morningsI tried improving her hair. I posted her today's story pretty much when the last thread hit the limit, so I'll post it again. Is her hair better like this or was it better before.
>It made the OP WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>7369167I like them both
>>7369128These threads move insanely fast, I commend you for making these edits every time OP.
>>7369182It's my pleasure. Another anon started previous thread so it's a group effort for sure
>>7369179Same. I'm a bit biased to wanting to draw the hair like this though, since I've been drawing the hair like this for some time now. I just like how clutter free it leaves her crown area of head.
>>7369182He deserve zero commendations for continuing to shit up the catalog with early bakes.
>>7369186Thought new threads were started at bump limit?
>>7369186I'll give you that, he definitely jumps the gun. >>7369188With how slow the board is they stay in the catalogue for days anyway. Bump limit doesn't matter.
>>7369192ah I'm new to this mb, I'll just let whoever was doing them before do it
>>7369131
>>7369194No big deal. It's better to let the threads last, it gives anons more time to show their work, get criticism and respond with corrections in a more comfortable time frame.
>>7369128Can I get some help on this as well
>>7369207Same thing, the door, both windows, the ceiling and the steps are on the same plane, so they should follow the same VP. But, since the viewer is almost directly facing the wall, the VP is going to be very far away, or it's all gonna look warped. Probably not the best setup to train perspective.Picrel just to maybe give you some idea

>>7369223I can't figure out what's going on here. Also it's really strange, composition-wise, that the guy's face is cut off, does it serve some purpose?
>>7369167
>>7369230It's a lost cause, anon.
>>7369229These are just badly drawn clothing folds near the chest and the reason the guy's face is cut off is because I added him late and needed to keep the height difference accurate (he's tall)
>>7369230>>7369233he already reached his goal he just wants to know how to draw it at different angles
>>7369237"He" meaning you.
I want to draw but how..
>>7369236Then it doesn't serve any purpose and you should expand the canvas ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>7369236folds?
>>7369240you? I?
So Pinterest has completely fallen to AI, huh.
>>7369247Just a coincidence, I wanted to draw an outline of the underboob
>>7369251how so? not that I think you're wrong, just not entirely sure what you mean. I've seen a handful of images on my feed that I could tell were AI, and probably some "slipped through the cracks," but I feel like it's good for the most part. maybe I'm wrong though and/or you're talking about something else.
>>7369230I kinda like the outlines i've been drawing in the hair. I'd still like to draw those if possible. But good critique>>7369237Dude. I'm always willing to improve her design if I get good critique. I like trying stuff out at least
>>7369128wow second time I make the opnice.

>>7369281thanks, I can't just instantly change how I've been drawing in one day

this was my first day since middle school long ago actually trying to draw, not worth saving my results but think i made ok progress on lines and shapes and am going over beg books like keys to drawing, utter beginner etc. fun with a pencil does not seem like my thingmy 1st goal is anime grils in variety of poses and perspectivesmy 2nd goal is fixing them in a coherent backgroundshading and colors are very distant priorities except to the degree they might help me with orientation in goals 1 and 2tomorrow im going to the library as a place to focus, try still lifes and vanishing points with a laptop and paper pad, but i get the feeling i want to just do figure drawing along with (if not the majority of) the work. ive got preston blair cartoon animation and gesture drawing for animation saved but is there a suitable more anime-tailored thing?

>>7369292Thanks for the tips for the hair, but I'm going to be completely honest with you. I don't really like what you did to her face there
>>7369292i never realized how brutal a mog the hair could be, my eyes could be getting worse. >>7369318I get what he was going for though, your jaw is really round compared to conventional anime style. usually round jaws are reserved for chibis and kids.
>>7369318Of course, because the original head is basically just a circle. its going to look jank unless you redraw the whole head and not just hair
>>7369320It's also because they didnt lengthen the neck either, changing the jaw makes the character look older so it looks out of place with the /beg/ child like proportions
>>7369323wait is it supposed to be child?

>>7369290>>7369167Anon your drawings are very cute and you really seem to always try your hardest to draw your girls. Never bend your knee to the people here who are trying to put you down. You seem to have a certain way you like to draw your pictures, There is nothing wrong with that as you are very consistent with it. Your drawings are already good enough that you could be making your manga. It's up to you if you think you should be this adamant to try and improve. Always take what people say here with grain of salt
Why are digital charcoal brushes so hard to work with? I feel like I have to contort my hand into some Cthulu monster in order to make thin lines in any non-cardinal direction.Am I just doing something wrong? Should I be using the overhand grip?

Just a small practice from a video series on linework. I feel like I rushed it a bit.
>>7369466nta but I'd say after. KTD is much more general in its instruction than DTHAH, so it's a much more logical and smoother transition than starting with DTHAH and moving to KTD.
>>7369465DRAW this*
>>7369466KtD has a small section on how to draw the head, that book is more indepth. If you're interested in drawing the head it wouldn't hurt to skim through it (at least the parts on how to measure a head).
>>7369471Got it.>>7369474I'll skim it a bit and see what I can apply. Thanks both of you!
>>7369131Kinda cool AI reference, really fun to draw. Those eyes remind me of Tatsuya Nakadi. >>7369135I'll get to you tomorrow. I had to catch up on the refs from yesterday. >>7369370You too>>7369442Nice job, anon. The biggest tip I would give is to look at how you've straightened out her spine. Don't be afraid to really exaggerate a pose.
/beg/ how would you handle this apple? https://files.catbox.moe/5j6otz.jpgi did colors, then attempted to find values after i remembered mario bucci saying you need to find shapes/values first and go from there. but obviously i don't know what the fuck i'm doing. maybe the og image is just too tough?
>>7369420I drew ahit like this as a kid all the time
>>7369128I know this is like a super basic ass question but can anyone give me advice on learning to blend smoothly/shade in digital? Using Krita if it super matters as i've read some things in trying to learn this that say how krita does strokes vs other softwares is different, but not really sure to what extent it matters. I for the life of me can't understand how to smooth out this kind of banding. I've tried ctrl color picking excessively, using the absolute lightest of pressure to build up layers, circle strokes, spent an impractical excessive amount of time overworking it, and a whole host of different combinations but i just can't figure it out. There's always a border between two values even if it's kinda obfuscated, like with the circle strokes. I know i could just use a blending tool to forceful gauss the shit out of it but, and maybe im wrong, i don't think it's an issue of a bad tool for the wrong job. I've seen a ton of artists who can blend smoothly with a hard round brush and i want to do my best to not rely on gimmick crutch tools unless super necessary.
>>7369294too much talking, not enough dawing. you learn to draw by drawing. you learn to draw anime girls by drawing anime girls. if you wanna draw anime girls just draw anime girls. copying some old ass book you don't care about will make you give up before you even draw an anime girl.

how do you cope with the unabashed feeling of absolute inferiority when you try to copy some better artist and you see how well placed, smooth and succulent his lines are, and then try to eyeball copy it and yours is pure fucking trash. I've went through this shit so many times at this point and it's absolutely crushing.
Lets see how this turns out
>>7369628Pic fell off
>>7369618Realize that it took you one stroke to draw what you drew, but it took him a thousand to draw his.
>>7369618He didnt have the pressure of having It to look like another drawing. It will stop once you interpret instead of copying
>>7369498You cannot blend smoothly with a hard round brush. It is hard, it is round, it does not make gradients.Use a dithered brush like a paintbrush texture to hide the strokes, or use the airbrush.
>>7369618You need to understand that he studied a lot to be able to place the lines well and drew a lot of bad lines And that even those lines are approximations he produced with his body of understanding, it's not specifically where he wanted it to be because we never know,We just learn all the other stuff and then we'll make lines that are more functional
>>7369637I more or less figured it out. well actually i asked an ai how to do it and it spit out a technique that was what i was looking for(maybe the droids aren't so bad after all). This isn't perfect but i can actually tell that it's a skill issue and with more effort/time i could do it better. Plus i feel like i have way more control over edges/gradients that i've never really felt confident with before. All hard round btw.

>>7369718Yeah. Anything I read from that book did not help in any way, so, what's the point of doing a lot of talk? Its such a convoluted way to teach drawing. All the talk bogs people down, when people are looking to get better at drawing, they need to draw instead of reading a bunch of convoluted text.

>>7370126The first post you made was crying about your hand hurting and it feeling cold all of a sudden and you suddenly seeing the light on the other side. Those are the excuses we have zero tolerance over.
>>7370129Okay, for one, I'd suggest trying to run some rough sketches with a pencil in a journal. Someone told me to do this with a bit of doodling, to "learn the weight of a pencil". I've been trying it to get a better feel for actually getting shapes understood, since drawing thin lines just, feels and looks pretty bad in my >very admittedly shorttime drawing. Practice makes progress, and don't be afraid to try and get advice from...admittedly harsh criticism. Try to break it down into what could be considered actionable goals and milestones to achieve.
Reading through How to draw the head and hands. Way too much in there for me to implement for a while, but I used his method to construct this head from the front. So the hairline is supposed to be one third up from the nose, the mouth is supposed to be one third down from the nose... And then another third down is the chin? I think I got it right here, but the nose-to-chin is much longer than I normally draw.

>>7370135Okay, I will attest that I made that in a pretty stupid way. Regarding the cold, that wasn't some BS reasoning, I'm pretty sure that what happened there was some sort of reaction to taking my medication for the first time in a couple of weeks, as well as the fact that the fireplace isn't the best. I'd also like to clarify, I never said anything about my hand hurting. I just said that it was cold. And I mean that in a physical way. Not pain, but like it was hit with being exposed to the open air. I can understand how these can be seen as excuses, and I am working to improve some of the conditions I'm working under. Probably should have waited to post this on the next thread but screw it. I did this study, started off very iffy but I think I pulled it off okay enough in the end (I still can't draw eyes well for the life of me). One of the main issues I was facing was "Do I truly understand what I am drawing?", especially when it came to the muzzle which I struggled to really make feel 3D, so I decided to trace the basic shapes of her over on the right. Does it seem like I understand what I am looking at well enough or not? I can't really tell most of the time.
>>7370226I think you understand it, but the ref is pretty shit imo. Try doing this kind of drawing with real animals and I'm sure you'll do fine
>>7370230>but the ref is pretty shit imoYou are probably referring to how her face is a tad deformed/squishy like for expression sake. I do agree it probably wasn't the best one to go for. And yes that has crossed my mind, I should do a study of a real animal at some point.
>>7370235>You are probably referring to how her face is a tad deformed/squishy like for expression sakeYeah that's what I mean, her muzzle isnt very clear in the ref so it's hard to make it clear for you

>>7370237Yeah, maybe I did it because I felt it would be a "challenge" (which is a mindset I keep having lately), but yeah I will have to go for a more conventional expression next. One issue I am having btw is I really suck at the base construction of a character still. I think I struggle to tell if I am being accurate or not if I draw a very blank sketch of my subject which is why I just kinda try to emulate what I see sometimes awkwardly and messily.
>>7369128Understanding perspective a lot better now. On to the next. I will be done with this book before the end of the year.

>>7370563I have been learning 3d shit for a few days instead of drawing like I should. Might be a long time before I post so people don't get fatigue from looking at my shitty art.
>>7370588what symbol drawing does to a mf
>>7370578>>7370580Thanks fellas. Any suggestions on what I should draw? I'd like to draw a multitude of things so I don't get burned out just drawing one thing. For the most part I think I'm going to do anatomy practice.
>>7370587>>7370588
>>7370597kek yeah that's why I posted that
>>7370597>>7370600Nah, I don't see it.
>>7370588One could say he mastered his own art style...
>>7370602I just meant it reminded me of that gif
>>7370588It's important to have a recognizable brand.
>>7370593You're not gonna take 8 hours of practice, you gotta have some fun or you'll just give up
>>7369135>>7369490Finished up my debt to the last thread.>>7370176My favorite in the thread. Getting to this is near my current goal. So stylish and cool. Background looks nice too.
>>7370593>for the most part I think I'm gonna do anatomy practicedo a mix of reference drawing, master studies, and memory studies. aside from that just draw what seems fun.
>>7370605There's anon that sees the glass half full
>>7370588Out of all the artists he could have copied he decided to go with FKMT, amazing.
>>7370588Master study on this anon when?
>>7370611The man recognizes greatness
Yikes, didn't think my art was that bad, thread. Could throw some crit in among the ridicule.
>>7370611You better not be talking this>>7370616I didnt post the gif as a critique, it just looked the same from the thumnail
>>7370616You're symbol drawing the eyes
>>7370553And here's an older figure drawing.>>7370567>>7370607Very lovely faces.
>>7370618>>7370618>>7370618draw, post work, help others.
>>7370567This is looking great anon. Nice line work with the brush.
>>7370617>It just looked same from the thumbnailBro. Have some mercy on the poor bastard, you have no idea how much damage you might have caused to him with that post
>>7370621i refuse
>>7370621I don't want to go to the other thread, Soda posted in it.
For real tho, this thread was still being actively used and was nowhere near falling off of page 10. The one thread a day stuff is ridiculous.
>>7370531I'm trying to draw a fictional species known as a Soundbyte. Basically a combination of a dragon and bat. There's, not a whole lot in the way of 2D art really, and I'm still incredibly new to drawing overall. Got a long ways to go. Tomorrow I'm planning to work on using some shapes to try and better improve face appearance, as well as trying to better match the reference to the 3D models.
>>7370648There is 5 beg threads in cataloque right now.
>>7370653noivern pokemon
>>7370656vs how many cris threads?
>>7370552It's a soundbyte. A combination of a dragon and a bat. I was trying to replicate a 3D model, but, not to much success. Still, I'm proud of what I did manage to get done tonight, what with me being still new to the process and, not knowing anything about actually drawing, prior to four days ago. Long road ahead, but I'm going to keep trying. And, outside of electronic music (which I haven't attempted to work on in months due to job hunting), I'm just doing art practice as a way to destress from the constant silence in employers.
>>7370658Even one is too many
>>7370658What does that have to do with the fact there's four more beg threads than necessary
>>7370552And, just to inform, I completely understand. I can even recognize it doesn't look AMYTHING like what the species actually does, outside of the ears and eyes. This was my second time ever trying to do a headshot, and I, still suck at it. But, it's INFINITELY better than my first attempt, which was even worse. Slow progress...but, still progress nonetheless.
>>7370661we need at least 1 thread per beg
>>7370664Seems like that's the goal
>>7370648beg and fig are the only threads worth anything here (in terms of work posted), honestly i think an eternal weekly beg thread would make more sense...
>>7370588why is this gif 4 fucking mbs?
>>7370671Yeah, that definitely makes sense.
>>7370671If beg threads would just get stickied or have bigger post limit. Then there wouldn't be any need to keep making new ones constantly
>>7370674The issue isn't post limit. The threads would last for a few days if OP didn't make a new one each time they hit bump limit.
>>7370677I guess you're right. There always is someone who is impatient and just can't seem to help themself
>>7370584A lot, also i was serious. You draw nice hands. Way better than your heads. Keep drawing and you will improve.
>>7370677this doesn't makes sense for a general.
this is the thread
A "master study" I did of this artist --> https://x.com/okinawanogori plus some random sketches. He has a beautiful art style.
>>7370691huh?
>>7370692Looks like he got scared by the new TOS controversy that was going around. My bad.
>>7370619Is there any other way to draw eyes from imagination?I'm reading keys to drawing, but so far he's only talked about drawing from reference.
>>7370695This is the kind of stuff he draws. I hope he doesn't delete his account, he has no links to any other socials.
>>7370698>Is there any other way to draw eyes from imagination?nta, but I'm not sure the framing of the question is quite right. it's not so much the "way" you draw but with what knowledge (and of course this is all relative to your particular goals for the drawing). if you want to draw a more realistic eye from memory with this or that angle, you need to study eyes at those angles. there are different sorts of memory exercises you can do, but two broad ones are of either sort:>look at a reference for x amount of time, put it away, and draw the reference from memory>draw from reference, then put it away and try to draw it from memoryit would also be helpful to have general understanding of eyes and how its anatomical parts change depending on the perspective of the head. I don't know any in particular off the top of my head, but I'm sure they're out there.
>>7370699Thanks for the heads up anon, since i also follow him might as well download all his stuff before he DFE like most asians do.
>>7370527First post template is funny thoguh
>>7370583dont have one sorry
>>7370865Ok, just you know you could make it big in twitter if you focused your work on a project with some topical stuff sprinkled in, the technical skill is there.Hope you keep posting friendo
>>7370946you think so? can you elaborate with the topical stuff?
>>7370990Yeah man you just gotta find your niche, you have some semblance of an art style, the only thing you need to do is to refine it, work on character design and backgrounds, doing full pieces will help you with this, your Ivy piece would be improved with a full background. It might be shunned in some of these threads but doing art trends, fanart for series/anime/comic that are currently airing/in publishing or doing stuff that is popular. The term used by some anons it's trendhopping, the issue comes when some is that your OCs or original works tend to garner less views than your other stuff. Every so often anons make threads about growing your Social media presence so look into it but be take advice with a grain of salt. What do you want your drawings to be for? Gamedev? Comics? Pinups? Or just find pleasure in drawing? Please keep posting
>>7370998I just draw for fun mostly, my goal would be to just be good at drawing characters doing stuff. Problem is I don't spend as much time practicing as I should to get good and if I do im really slow at it. Got a full time job and some classes I attend too.Always felt like I wouldn't be able to keep up with Social Media art, so I just draw or doodle when I feel like it.But thanks for your compliments anon, made me happy. Ill try to post more here. I made the Koishi in the latest OP post too actually
I'm the guy who said he's going to draw for 8 hours. This is the one hour update. Copying from this book.>>7370007Will post my updates here, the new thread is very likely to not last anyway. Might as well use up the image limit in this thread.
>>7371039>Problem is I don't spend as much time practicing as I should to get goodAny amount of time is good, the only thing that matters is that you keep going.I mean you don't really need to keep up with the current zeigeist but can always archive your stuff, even if it is a small account it will give you a fuller picture of your progress.Be seeing you buddy.

>>7370607Do you post anywhere else?
>>7371335/beg/ and, on occasion, /fig/
"Master studies"
>>7369230Not the anon who drew that, but people like you who edit to visually illustrate your critique are a godsend.
>>7370531From the lingo, it looks like a page from the sharty wiki giving advice on how to epically pwn people
>>7371633Okinawanogori is really good for understanding the shape.
>>7369128Man, drawing after 2 weeks feels rough.
How did I do for a 2 hour speedpaint? What do I need to work on?
>>7369128My silly drawing there, thank you
>>7373361Could be worse. You're leaving a lot of things as sort of vague blobs instead of comitting. Like where are the heel or ankle supposed to be on these hooves.
>>7373361partially silly but i like it somehow.both are expired but we have newer thread already
>>7369230hmm this is exactly what i need, i'm making this one but the head looks bad, i also made her really stiff. (colors are just for reference)
