I'm a retard /beg/ what's special about round hard?
>>
>>7373017
nothing
thats the point

Who's the artist for this one?
>>

Like is it supposed to be hard? I pretty much use the same brush for everything too. I'm just trying to understand. Should I use hard round?
>>
>>7373092
hard round used to mean direct color picking and no blending with opacity/flow/soft edge, it was supposed to teach you how to use color
retarded newfags now think any round shaped brush is le hard round, including mixer brush equivalents and will spend hours polishing turds on-screen blending because they think that's the hard part
multiple images itt have blatant soft edge/smudge marks
>>
>>7373092
Its just a basic circle brush, you learn to paint with it to avoid depending on textured brushes as a crutch. Its technically all you need to make digital art, and some people get very good with it.

It's a good exercise, theres nothing wrong with using other brushes though.

see the newfag mentioned above
the default ps brush has/had no pressure sensitivity controlling anything, so you needed to pick colors directly to create a gradient
texture has nothing to do with it

Hard Round is the name of a brush in Photoshop that is just a solid 100% opacity hard circle, no soft edge, no opacity, no flow, no mixing of any kind, meaning you have to consciously and purposefully put down each color like you would when tiling in trad.
The pics itt don't even use the hard round brush.

>the default ps brush has/had no pressure sensitivity controlling anything, so you needed to pick colors directly to create a gradient
Exactly. You had to use the number keys to change your opacity, and the [ ] brackets to change brush size, and color picking is to blend. I am aware of the hard round, anon. I remember painting like this in the old days.

>texture has nothing to do with it
Sure it does. A textured brush does some of the work for you. But if you have to hand render that texture yourself with the hard round, it can be a fun exercise where you learn something new. That's what's impressive about hard round chads, or any artist who limits themselves like that and still makes something great.

Is it mental illness?

No matter how much I try to use other brushes, I can't abandon my trusty set of Hard Round Brush and Soft Round Brush for smudging.
No other brush gives me total control of the outcome.

It's kinda like trying to draw on any software that isn't SAI, all these turbonerd ultra-featured softwares but the pen sucks, so I can't move on.

How do I break free? Do I want to break free? I think I shouldn't be wasting so much time manually doing everything.

Make your own brushes when you need them, otherwise keep rocking the hard/soft rounds bro
>>

>when you need them
Which is NEVER EVER, because each patch of grass or furry creature or fabric will be different depending on the illustration.
