She also modelled for several other artists. Source is Herbert Art Gallery & Museum which displays the painting. If you doubt the source, you could email the curator to verify.

I assume OP decided the painting was from imagination because an art blogger put the image in his article where the author also said the artist did imaginative work. Which I'm sure he did but seriously OP, use your brain and your eyes. The entire article was about his method of using references. It also has a painting his wife made as well as portraits. Painting objects, scenes, and made up people are one thing (he even says in his book that life drawing people is the most beneficial practice because glaring differences and proportion issues will stick out more than if you drew something like a still life incorrectly) but accurate portraits are another for pure imagination work. His book has more explanation on how he uses reference.

Nothing the artist says is wrong though. Draw nude figures, don't draw models you find ugly, don't constantly look at your ref, etc
