Is it too much to ask that they teach you how to draw these toy mannequins? They always show them off in their books and tutorials—these super cool toy mannequins that would make it easy to pose figures from imagination. But then they just show them off as promo material and never teach you how to do it.

Is it too much to have a clean front/side view at least? So you can copy it? People like "Kawaii sensei" and "tenten/whiting" are guilty of this, but there are more.

Nope.

Yeah I know you got it from tenten's book. But that's not it. He draws his toy like mannequins and the one you posted is done with boxes and cylinders. Granted what you posted is useful. But that's not what he usually uses

I asked for a clean front view and side version. Not one that's already posed. You clearly didn't read the Op.

If anything Covid taught us, it forced all those privileged kiddies on Social Media to teach how they draw anime. It took a fucking pandemic to get the pros to cough up how they draw behind the gatekeep and what did we learn? Most of them really don't know how to draw the figure well.

Fuck, I'm in a discord with a professional Nip (I won't mention their name) with published materials and they draw just about the same level as /asg/. I'm sure you're obsessed with finding the best method, OP. I am, too. But you must come to the realization once you subscribe to a teacher's doctrine you're in their court now and you must play by their rules and if you attempt to deviate from it you'll just be left even more confused into an infinite nikki loop.

Are you stupid or just trolling? Again the issue isn't that doesn't explain how mannequins work but that he doesn't give clean referenced to copy. All are foreshortened. That picture is cherry picked because in that chapter he was explaining the torso.

>they draw just about the same level as /asg/
one of my relative's friends is native japanese and an artist. he makes probably $800 USD a month and works as a mangaka. he's definitely better than /asg/ but he's not the level anybody would expect to be to find work there, but considering his income level i think it checks out. though i think it's easier for newbie artists to get started there, they use a lot more art for advertising and everything. normies buy line stickers and stuff instead of using those horrible 3d model apple emoji people

They have observational drawing classes during their school years so they rightfully expect you to know how to draw what you see in front of you

Let's be real, most people just buy books like this to add to their collection. There are a plethora of books that actually teach you important things about construction. Books like this are made to look good so you can be a happy little consumer and flip a couple pages, maybe even copy a drawing or two before you put the book away and never touch it again. The sinking feeling that you should be studying from the book you bought in the back of your mind that you drown out by filling your leisure time with recreational activities. Slowly collecting dust before you ultimately pick it up one time, dust it off, flip through it and realize the book was complete garbage to begin with.

I've been drawing my entire life but I don't know how to draw anything. I just construct shit and hope it looks good by the time I'm done.

>Is it too much to ask that they teach you how to draw these toy mannequins?
As an artist, you are able to copy and reproduce anything that was once already drawn. What's your problem, try to think with your head and draw the same mannequin in a different pose. Don't be a retard, try using your hands, eyes and brain.
>>
>>7375234
sigh. You have no idea what you're talking about. Well duh obiously it's doable. I was asking for some good references tho.
>>
>>7375234
>dude just visualize what someone would look like and then draw that

wow what a fucking genius idea, why do people have trouble drawing at all when they could just do that?
oh wait, because NOBODY CAN FUCKING DO THAT
THATS WHY CONSTRUCTION EXISTS
TO BUILD SOMETHING YOU CAN'T IMAGINE
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE MANNEQUIN IS FOR?
IF THEY CAN JUST VISUALIZE SHIT IN A DIFFERENT POSE, THEN THEY'LL JUST DRAW THE FIGURE DIRECTLY
