They steal 99% of their content from other pirate websites, telegram and torrents and they "group buy" leaked courses from Telegram.
They're a massive scam and you shouldn't pay for pirated content, you're a smart anon, right? Don't buy leaked shit.
>>
>>7387596

>>
>>7387665
I think what they do is they buy off courses in bulk from course traders for like $70 - $100 a pop and then pretend to host a "group buy" on their website for courses they got off the trader.

I used to have a connection with a trader that had every single CGMA class long before GBC was around and that's how I got some of my stuff. A bigger question is how do the traders get the courses? Maybe they're employees and it's their side hustle I'll never know.

Why is almost every video course art teacher a rambler? It's like they don't understand teaching for a video course is very different to teaching students in a classroom directly.

Video courses should break everything down as simply as possible and building from there. All the figure drawing courses that start by instructing students to learn gesture drawing are cringe. Gesture isn't tied to the human figure; it can be applied to anything. Students should only start applying gesture to the figure once they have a solid understanding of the figure's proportions.
>>
>>7394744

Have you noticed the the whole special snowflake gesture methods in a lot of the bigger courses are just locked in doctrines? Once you walk into their court you must play by their rules; individuality will not be tolerated. Which is totally fine except in order to get everything squeezed out of the instructor you’d have to go under a long term mentorship or take the same class twice with the 2nd time coming in with a ton of questions.

I assume this is built from how a lot of artists didn't learn construction, they just did so much gesture drawing they know every angle.

Any courses that go over how to paint digitally? I've done traditional painting and hard round brush studies but it barely helped me in trying to render like picrel.

>All the figure drawing courses that start by instructing students to learn gesture drawing are cringe.
The concept of gesture is "simple" to teach, it's trying to capture the gist of something. The practice for it is easy and quick, just take any pose/subject and draw it. Thing is, it takes a ton of practice to master it, actually, scratch that, a kiloton of practice. So, the student should start learning it as the first thing, specially if the teacher values it.

>The concept of gesture is "simple" to teach,
No it isn't. No teacher provides the same explanation and it always devolves to esoteric rambling. Once again, online learning through pre-made videos is not the same as teaching directly to a classroom in real time, and that's something most of these "teachers" fail to understand.

Case in point:
>"it's trying to capture the gist of something"

Bizarre how you can't even understand why this might be difficult for a beginner to understand. Please never start teaching.

People who are new to figure drawing should first learn the basic proportions of the figure before attempting to apply gesture to it, or better yet, before trying to draw "gesture drawings".
>>
>>7395112
People don't actually watch the content they just see NMA and assume it's good.
>>
>>7395115
Oh, you are just a crab, got it.

>No it isn't
Notice the " ", it means that I know there is a caveat, and it is:
>No teacher provides the same explanation
Congratulations, you agree with me, it's a relatively simple concept but there isn't a good definition of it.

>Bizarre how you can't even understand why this might be difficult for a beginner to understand.
What, you can't understand the simple concept of "try to capture the feeling/force/gist of the pose and don't care for the details"? Like I said, the concept is simple, what is hard is the execution.

>Please never start teaching.
>People who are new to figure drawing should first learn the basic proportions
Have fun with your students with stiff poses.

>Why is almost every video course art teacher a rambler?

This is my problem with most video courses. Rambling on a critique session is fine but at least try to be consise with teaching. Also idk why but these courses think that giving you HOURS of video is important for some reason. I get if you're working on something and it actually takes that long- I get rambling there if you're commentating but have a script and tighten it up if you're teaching a concept. Marco Bucci is great at this and I wish there were other artists who styles I wish to emulate in some capacity could teach like him. He should make a course on how to teach for these people.
>>
>>7397329
Most of them aren't really teachers, so they don't know how to convey cohesively what they want to teach, so it just ends up being hours of rambling just to convey something that shouldn't take long to explain.

You're better off seeing their painting/drawing process than trying to decodify what is it that they're trying to convey.

Marco Bucci, Proko, Marshall Vandruff and Brent Eviston are great teachers, usually they're the ones that i recommend when people asks me for a good teacher.

Really, the only reason I don't watch Bucci's courses (except the first part of the head one) is because of how painterly his style is. It's so much on the vein of painting that my "grew up copying anime and cartoons" ass can't really follow without heavily modifying.

Greetings!

Does anybody know if there's a good course to learn digital drawing/painting?
I've been wanting to get into digital for a while after a long time drawing on pencil, but whenever I try to do draw something digitally I get afraid and end up closing Photoshop, and that's why I am asking here for help on choosing a course (due to the vast amount of knowledge on courses here).

Thanks in advance for seeing this!
>>
>>7405677
no, there aren't any courses on that, unfortunately.
>>
>>7405677
You probably will have to wait a little, the anons here were given a riddle and they got fucked.

But you'll probably be ok if you go with Ctrl+Paint if you actually don't understand nothing about Photoshop.

bruh, it's all about a good brush. find one that feels similar to your pencils and stick with it until you can do shits comfortably

about courses, Proko is good enough for these cases, if you want to learn about the technical aspects of painting software, you get the hang of it while you learn to paint or draw digitally, it's kinda tied to each other

tho, there is this book that is actually kinda useful, it showcases digital techniques and digital workflows, like using layers, blending modes, etc... just search them on anna's archive,
>>
>>7405697
forgot to mention, painting programs are a medium by itself, after all. you'll have to spend time to learn it just like you would with any other medium, it just takes a bit of time to learn the workflow and techniques
>>
>>7405677
Look for medsmap on rutracker, it has everything you need for digital painting.
Default audio is russian but you can change it to English if you use vlc or mpv.

Also if you want to see the results of someone doing medsmap before and after look at this guy's videos https://www.youtube.com/@Sebijy/videos from oldest and you will see obvious improvement as he started doing assignments from meds.

I am a huge fan of his art, he is my favorite gouache artist. I got that course on Domestika when it was on sale. It is really really bad. Like really bad. You will learn absolutely nothing and you will struggle to keep your attention on the most low energy teaching you have heard in your life. Kind of feel bad shitting on this course, because I like Tommy, but he is a bad teacher. I am not gonna rip it and upload it, not worth anyones time or HD space, it is that bad. Wish I could make my art look more like his and wonder how to do it. The answer is definitely not in that course.

>>
>>7409582
just simple tips like "Big medium small" and using simple shapes, the ladder principle, etc. using ref. None of it is rocket science, of course

all of my visual library is taken from other manga, but creating appealing characters taht aren't just stereotypical repeats of other fantasy manga is a bit challenging when you have no guidelines. stephen silver gives really nice simple guidelines to follow

a common assignment given to newly debuted mangaka by their editors is to buy a 100 page sketchbook and create 100 unique characters, one for each page. By the visuals alone, they have to stand out from each other and must also appear to be able to be the protagonist for a 10+ volume series if need be. creating characters is the most time-consuming part when you've already got a regular weekly deadline, because it's just extra work on top of hte pages you have to write and draw, so having a database of unique characters can save you in dark times
>>
>>7409599
Well, you just red pilled me on giving his courses a try. Thanks anon.

And
>buy a 100 page sketchbook and create 100 unique characters, one for each page.
Seems like a good idea for a challenge in general, not just for manga. At the end of it you just have to pick the best ones and you have a character design portfolio.
Though it does look soul shattering if the deadline is short lol
>>

>>
>>7407358
His book is great for beginners. I don't have a huge sample size but I recommended it to about 5 people, 4 stuck with it and actually draw figures pretty good now. I've always wanted to take a look at his course but I already read the book so I haven't. All roads lead to the same or similar conclusions in figure drawing so it's likely that other instructors resonate better or differently for other people, but it doesn't detract from Hampton's value as an instructor.

They don't make any new classes, at least not on the level of Coloso. The tap dried up when covid ended.
>>
>>7410352
The tap dried up because they offered a free trial and access to their entire catalog without the DRM protection of Coloso so it got scraped immediately.
It's honestly pretty sad, they are not money grubby like Coloso and got fucked for it.
>>
>>7410273
it's basically a variation of bargue type classical drawing. Lots of measuring, lots of value scale drills, and lots of still lives / master copies

most anons won't be able to make use of it, out of lack of discipline
>>
>>7410400
I think they were losing money or weren't making enough money. It was only when covid nearly "ended" did they swap to subscriptions and that's at the same time they stopped professionally translating their courses and just used machine translation while quietly updating their ToS. I've watched them like a hawk from the beginning.
