Haven't tried making anything like this for a while. I only realized after the fact that I basically repeated structures with both of them. If this was to be a first page, I imagine the MC's face not being shown in full is probably a negative. The art isn't very impressive, but I have a hard time figuring out 'where' I should be trying to improve it, if anyone has any ideas. It's easy to tell how amateurish it is compared to others, but analyzing exactly why that is, is tough for me.
>>7391939>a 4 koma for antsWhat a progressive era we live in.
>>7391945Haha, my bad. I draw on a pretty big size, so I have to reduce it a lot. I apparently got the % wrong.
>>7391920https://wordlessmanga.com/eng.htmlI dunno if anyone's mentioned this contestlike a way superior sma8-60 pages, deadline at the end of February
Tentacles time.
I just tried drawing in 600dpi and I love it.ButI also just finished 23 pages in 300dpiI don't know what to do.
I tried scanning my doodle again, I tried to do some hatching this time. how's this?
what drawing software do you guys use? i'm using krita, i'm learning to draw right now, but i want to make a comic. i watched a video that said comics should be in 300dpi and i don't think you can do that on krita, so what software should i use?
>>7392065かわいいい
>>7392053Nevermind, it wasn't the DPI that was the issue, it was my canvas size.>>7392088I use photoshop, but I wouldn't recommend it.
>>7392088actually you can do 300 dpi on krita
>>7392065The way you draw clothes is really good anon
>>7392088Like >>7392100 I also draw with PS, but I'm personally neutral on it as a program. Only use it because I'm so familiar with it since I used to edit pics for years before I ever started drawing. I would personally have gone to CSP (which I also own) fully if I hadn't been exposed to PS prior.
>>7392098:D>>7392129Thanks. I wish i wouldn't lose so much of the pencil details when scanning
Alright chaps, here is my first chapter (linework)https://imgur.com/a/2D2Fm3iAny and all feedback is welcome and encouraged(even the nitpick and continuity errors)Gonna start screentones this weekend then moving onIf anyone hasn't read or wants to re-read the prologue it's here:>Censoredhttps://tapas.io/series/Jack-Money>Uncensoredhttps://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/117534215
>>7392088CSP.>i watched a video that said comics should be in 300dpiVideos are stupid. If you want to print it then 300 DPI is too small. It's fine for digital but any size is fine for digital, depending on what you're doing. One of the biggest webcomics of all time, Homestuck, was almost exclusive drawn on 650x450 gifs -- because that low-res aesthetic was what the author was going for. There's no reason it needs to be 300 DPI.
>>7391925>Ganmo, a job listing board for manga assistant work: https://ganmo.j-comi.co.jp/postsHas anybody here ever applied before?I notice a lot of this job offers are remote job, I wonder how improbable is the possibilities they would hire foreigners?10k JPY a day seems nice for a third worlder like me.
>>7392299You could be the first. Only way to know is to try. I thought it was a long shot that my publisher would work with somebody overseas, but it's working out. Maybe you could work as an assistant after all. Just try to brush up on your japanese, I don't think you could get away with having somebody correct it like I can.
I found this little notebook from when I was in like, middle schoolnever used it cuz it seemed dumbnow I'm 11 pages into a little one shot
>>7392065So cute! Makes me want give her a tight hug
>>7392384Awesome old-school shonen style.
>>7392088I used Krita. Its text editor is a bit bothersome (but not unusable, like other people would lead you to believe) and features that are standard in comics and manga are harder to do there, but it was good enough for me. I've been using CSP recently and it's really good for comics.
>>7392395it was a random choiceI wanted to try practicing the sorta movement they had in the old mangabut I don't know if it'll really be able to be translated to my normal stuff
>>7392232I think you should work on your line weight more. Aside that very good, keep going.
got too busy playing videogames instead of drawing comics, whoops!
>>7392414Welcome back anon, what were ya playin? And you'd better say something good
>>7392459Sekiro :)
>>7392513Is the pattern recognition gameplay that people say Sekiro has super strict? I was on the fence about getting it but didn't get it because I didn't know how unforgiving the game was gonna be about Simon Says.
Did some chages, changed the brush still having problems with monster colour (if someone has suggestions) and what's left is drawn the shoe and start painting with detail
>>7392513You are legally pardoned
>>7392534P.s. do anybody knows how to make round oil brush more sharper? Like with the g pen
>>7392513that game is harder than making mangas

>>7392640Here https://globalcomix.com/c/altarusia/chapters/en/1/1
>>7392232i like it, but at the end of the prologue you would have benefit with some words in the last pages, with the chapter i would just to point out two pages this one with the chicken scratches and...
>>7392232>>7392914And this one with the sketch layer still under
>>7392615This is a particularly nice drawing of her in color, quite possibly the nicest you've drawn yet. The calm orange colors are really nice here. I may potentially draw someone designed to be a lowkey homage to her in my own comic.
Would it be worthwhile to sink a bunch of money into making a comic? I got asked this, but I didn’t have an justifiable answer myself so I’m curious what other anons think
>>7392926Really depends. You can make a comic by buying some printer paper and some pencils and pens. Might cost you like, $20. Or you can spend thousands on tablets, a good computer, and stuff to work digitally.Depends on how you go about it.
>>7392926As >>7392935 says, it really depends on what you're spending money on. We talking just equipment, or are you talking about spending money in terms of getting actual prints done? What is "a bunch of money" to you?
>>7392926No, not at all since comics are some of the worst return on investment you could possibly get into. Even big legacy titles are not making the money they used to and struggling to sell enough to break even.Comics and manga are purely a passion project unless you get super lucky with a Jap publisher and get huge (regular published authors still make peanuts, usually not even a living wage)
>>7392939>>7392935Oh, I wasn’t talking about equipment. I’m that anon from the last thread talking about hiring an artist actually. I have everything to draw myself but I think I should probably hire someone else to do it. A bunch of money would be in the ballpark of 1.9k a year for 96 pages>>7392944Damn, I knew I probably wouldn’t make any money back but I didn’t think it was that bad
>>7393016>I’m that anon from the last thread talking about hiring an artist actually.Oh, well that's different, then. Well, it really does depend - is seeing your story in a book form worth spending about two grand? Keep in mind that it's not like you're just pressing the "buy" button and that's it. You're still engaged with the artist during the process, and there may have to also be revisions unless you're willing to just be completely hands off and take whatever gets made.
>>7392917>>7392914Noted, thank you
>>7392384the actual 10th and 11th pages, I just thought the last two looked the best so far to post with
>>7393029I’d be all for bouncing ideas and revisions so long as they make sense but.. It would actually be way more than two grand kek I was planning on going the webtoon/tapas route and it’s a long story that’s almost done so, the grand total would maybe be more like 10k start to finish? 1.9k is just the most i’d pay in a year. That’s why I couldn’t come up with a justifiable answer to spending that much, as badly as I want to tell my story
>>7393135What's this story? It better not be some "woe is me, my life was so hard" autobiographical shit
>2 hours of pain-ting down the drain because csp crashed
>>7393206>too retarded to press ctrl + Saverage mmg poster
>>7393206Does CSP not have autosave?
>>7391920how long would it take you guys to draw something like the top panel of the OP
>>7393218Hour, maybe
>>7393206nigga how d you go 2 hours without saving?i save like once a minute
>>7393135If you dont want to blow 10 grand, you could just join the rest of us and draw...? Either way, the cost must be paid - through your wallet or through your sweat. Wanting to tell a story quickly became the reason I kept drawing past the first month of drawing at all and kept me grounded while I did fundies. The girls weren't gonna draw themselves.>>7393206>He doesn't save compulsivelyLol, lmao even.
>>7393135Just write a book. If your story is any good, it will do just as well in text form.
>>7393218Characters like half an hour, backgrounds... like 3 months
>>7392921Thanks. It took me a whole day to get the colors right Xd. > I may potentially draw someone designed to be a lowkey homage to her in my own comic. What is your comic?
>>7393218an hour, not including the time spent searching for a suitable photo of a bar, or creating one in some 3d game or modeler program. In my experience, backgrounds take the longest if you hand draw them, its much better to trace photos and things. Nobody has time to set up 5000 perspective lines and cross reference multiple photos to make sure its perfect.
>>7393218I've been sat here thinking so hard on itbut I think just working the way I do, probably an hour and a halfand most of it would honestly probably be me finding places to hatch
>>7393206>>7393212>Use Paint Tool Sai>Program autosaves>PC crashes>The file gets corruptedEven though it takes up space I save each stage of the work as separate files now.I need another ssd though.
>>7393212I just restart my laptop, and It does, it actually had it saved it thanks fucking god>>7393211>>7393223>>7393231I would save more, but my potaro laptop takes like 2 minutes to save and freeze, and become usable again
>>7393241AECAST. If that's no good for you let me know and I'll make sure I won't.
>>7393259If my files get corruted, i would literally kill myself
>>7393264 I love your comic bro I would love to see the homage!
>>7392615I think that people in blue sky are getting a lot of visibility
>>7392414>got too busy playing videogames instead of drawing comics, whoops!Hahaha. Many such cases. I'm guilty too lol
>>7393273Lol I'm glad you like it. Ok, when I'm storyboarding later for the next overall story arc after I finish this current chapter, if there is a place to naturally put """Madalena""" in (since it's going to be a reference and not the literal girl) I will consider doing so.
>>7393218I can't time how long pages or panel take. I just keep drawing until I give up trying to save it.
>>7393238>>7393243Are you guys serious? Backgrounds are the easiest shit for me. At least common interiors like that. Characters on the other hand... Might take me a day or more
>>7393218If I was seriously working on it? Maybe 1 to 2 hours. Maybe 3 if I was sick or something. Backgrounds like this interior are not THAT complex to draw.
>>7393135The story can't be that important if you're too lazy to draw it yourself.
>>7393261I had it happen one time where my laptop crashed while one of my pages was in the process was saving. So, not only did I lose all the progress in that particular session, but the file also corrupted so I couldn't even open it and had to start over from scratch.
>>7393336Oh, shoot. Looks like that's happened to other people before, too. >>7393259Shit really sucks, and completely kills your motivation and momentum.
>>7393266>>7393336I'm so happy of having backups, your post physically hurt
>>7393336Please get yourself a cheap cloud storage if you can afford it and back things up to it every hour or so. Or wven just a physical spare hard drive. Jesus your post physically hurt to read.
>>7393364>>7393261Why don't you guys use google docs? Is it a bad platform?
>>7393203Nah, no way I’d write about my boring ass. I’m also that anon who was talking about writing slice of life type shit in the last thread too. I just like exploring different music scenes over the years, mixing different personalities and backgrounds with each other. Satisfies my tisms>>7393231>>7393308I actually did start drawing it, some thumbnails and things like that but I noticed I get discouraged when it’s time to do final pages so I figured that’s telling me to hire someone else to actually get it done>>7393236That actually crossed my mind the other day funnily enough, starting it as a novel and possibly adapting it into something else later once it’s out there
>>7393212Not him but autosave is the cause the majority of the crashes I've had with CSP. Better to just get used to hitting ctrl-s every few minutes, it's not hard and it's a good habit to have in general.
>>7393259>>7393336I just make sure to copy/paste the file I'm working on one folder up. That way even if my PC crashes and the work file is corrupted I know I have a backup fairly up to date.
>>7393364>>7393376Csp has his own, or at least that's what i think, also i have a duplicated file of the project and one upload on dropbox
>>7393391Well, I have the final files backed on on two laptops, and in two external drives. Its just that the in-progress ones are stored on a single laptop until I finish them and move them.
I'm learning to draw and at the same time I want to create my style by combining my favorite artists. For female design I picked my favorite porn artists and for male design I picked up Yusuke Murata, Hirohiko Araki and Sui Ishida. My problem is I am wondering if I can pick yet another artist for male design since I have 6 for female design. Any recommendations?
>>7393431>For female design I picked my favorite porn artistsYou want all your women to look like sexually charged bimbos ready to suck dick at any moment? Don't get me wrong I genuinely ain't judging; if thats what you want all the more power to you. Just you may end up with some exaggerated bobs and vagene lol. Also, which porn artists? This is VERY important for your fellow artists' research purposes.
>>7393431>not also picking male porn artists for referencefor shame
>>7393436>Also, which porn artists?I think they are more minor ones but these are >スミ (Kyomu no uriba) / Suminagashi (booru name)>Tsukareta-san >ミコジン / Mikozin>エクレアぢゃん / Ekrea yan (booru name)>犬舌トモ / Bell Orgel >与永 / Yonaga-san Last 3 are strictly mosntergirl artists.
Never give yourself a break from manga making. Getting back to it will be a pain.
>>7393461>that list of porn artistsI wasn't aware I had been talking to an anon of some taste, refinement, and culture. I retract my last prior comment.
>>7393448>>7393474So do you have any recommendation for the missing artist on the male design? I just get this feeling my practice has a missing link. I though of spicing it up with some Miura but that doesn't quite catch it I feel
>>7393469I'm taking a break to work on a video game instead, I was getting really burned out. The next thing to do would be to fix stuff on my storyboards, including an entire chapter that needs to be rewritten. Also, seems like /agdg/ is going down in flames again thanks to some random resident schizo.
>>7393469Opposite for me, I get that hyper fixation burnout, take time off, then come back.
>>7393494Can I design an NPC?
>>7393564For the game? Sure. Anything goes.
>>7393569What's the setting?

>>7393961Just move your hand faster
>>7393984gonna get RSI if i do that :(
>>7393593It's a simple fantasy setting right now.
>>7393961you just gotta enter zenmode and strap in
>>7393961I would rather shot myself in the balls with a shotgun, than do hatching, i just pain(t) for 2 hours yesterday and i will be out of commission for at least 2 days
>>7394011I tried>>7394206don't shoot yourself in the balls anon, hatching is actually quite fun if you take breaks regularly to avoid rsi
>>7394224That'a the thing, is that's way too fun that you forget about yourself and keep doing it until you arm stop working
>>7394238Welp I'm done. I agree it is fun to hatch. I probably shouldn't hatch a lot and work out on the same day tho, lesson learnt kek
>>7394247Serpico my beloved. The hatching looks pretty dang good, too, good job.
For those on Bookwalker
>>7394247mostly good, hair is understandably a bit of a shitshow.
>>7394253Love him>>7394257The hair was the hardest, can't get it to look right. Granted I fucked up the line weight, if I used thinner lines it might've worked
>>7394206hatching is what I look forward when drawingthe other day I tried to use the marker brush I use for sketching to paint in some values and it looks pretty cool and converts decently to screentones I could maybe use it in real comic pages
>>7394247You're doing great, keep going.>>7394264I love Serpico too.
Guys is there any server? There is one linked in the OP but is it about manga? I cant understand it
>>7394296Cute, post it with just the hatching?
My first manga I ever did I redrew it, still trying to figure out perspective rulers so I can draw the room properly.>>7394247great effort anon, looks good>>7393813love it its giving me osamu tezuka vibes/old school manga>>7393748are those koi fish? it'd be a bitbetter to add fish scales as a detailthe shading is a little muddy/washed a bit, like ehr chest is blue is clashing with the greenitd be nice if the cross was moredetailed/shaded >>7393261what drawing program do you sue? I feel if you used a tree leaf brush it'd reader more like a treethe shading looks messy because its a smaller brush doing the shadinglooking forward to see you polish it more but good job
>>7394379the one is the OP was gonna be an anthology project, but that didn't go anywherenow it's just a few of us hanging around shooting the shit while we make our manga, pretty chill

>>7394434ty for pointing that out i'll look into fixing it
>>7394392>are those koi fish? They are just there to represent the ancient christian symbol. Maybe I should ask in another general for this problem in specific.
>>7394433Yes, very nice, I like it. It seems drapery is a good subject for hatching studies as well. My thanks.

>>7394568FUCKthe ref tripped me up because the bitch has her right foot on her left even if her legs don't look crossed
>>7394582Hmm she crossed her calves tho
>>7394460Better?
there's got to be a starter pack of screentones somewhere. Creating them from scratch in csp takes way too long and I would rather just use the exact same ones that manga uses.
Finally done with the boring painful part. The window beside them will be shwoing Earth and some srtuctures that will be like docking stations in space. Can't wait to draw that part.

>>7394555cute lolis
>>7394392Welp, i haven't sue any program yet, but what i'm using is clip studio pain(t the t is silent) and you are right about the tree leaves, is just that i was picking the colors
>>7394379I think there is no discord because it ruins small communities of artists, especially one about drawing as much as comics demand.
I saw a schedule of a mangaka posted on /ic/ once and it was like 6 hours of storyboarding and then the next day, another 6 hours reserved for "fixing storyboard". Blackpilling....
If i included an 8 foot tall tomboy with the body type on the left into my comic, would that be too much for normies to handle? >>7395169That's not really a boob pocket. If a girl has relatively large tits, and wears a heavy(ish) bag or purse or something with a strap like that, the strap is going to sink between the tits and push the fabric between them.

>>7395270>>7395339>>7395416Don't hard drives have way more chances of failing than ssds?
>>7395429Only a bit higherhttps://blocksandfiles.com/2023/03/10/backblaze-ssd-vs-hdd/But there's one thing that stats from companies like Backblaze don't show: the chance of a sudden consumer SSD failure is a lot higher than the chance of a sudden consumer HDD failure. Sometimes the firmware just dies one day and you can reflash it and keep using the drive but lose all your data. Companies keep mixing and matching new chips and controllers without telling anyone (for cost/availability reasons), so maybe it's the lack of testing for those combinations that leads to sudden failures. With HDDs, at least you normally know when you have to get everything off the drive before it dies
Which one is better?

>>7400248Hey! Nice to know people haven't forgotten about me, in my absence. Lol>How is the project coming along Coming along really well now. We're on draft like 20 or so now, but over the many drafts we've discovered a lot about the setting, and more importantly, the protagonist and his motivations/wound/etc...However, now that we've gotten that figured out, everything is starting to come into place really quickly now. From the character and intended themes, you get the plot, and from combining those two, you get the setting details such as society and magic system and so on.Ultimately, we've settled on the core identity being that of "Doctors." So the idea is "Doctors fight Gothic Horror monsters using victorian era medical tools as weapons." Pic related. Editor wants an iconic and idealistic doctor that's akin to Gojo, Kakashi, All-Might, Levi, etc...>and what quarter of 2025 can I expect to see smtHopefully soon. I guess what I can say is that last winter, the EiC at Magazine, who was the former lead editor for Attack on Titan, read the first draft, and loved the concept. He said "we'll review this as many times as it takes to get it ready for serialization." So I've basically been soft approved. It's not really a question of "if" but rather "when." Then he gave us lots of feedback to focus on. Then around summer 2024, my editor submitted it to a MagaPoke contest so the EiC of that, abd the editorial staff could look over it as well. People again liked the idea. And found the art style to be a perfect match for the setting. EiC said he believed we had what it took to make a great work. So I feel quite honored and motivated by their high expectations. So that's why we're being very meticulous at reviewing it and redoing it over and over and over again until it's perfect. Then we can hopefully make something many people will enjoy. Will be submitting the latest draft around New Years, and from there we'll see.

Please correct or add to my knowledge of manga technicals, I am a complete beginner in this>600 DPI if printing, 300 for colored pronted pagesWhen would I need more than 600? Why is 350 rarely mentioned or any other DPI?>The "safe" area is where everything important is drawn>The edge of "trim" area is where it'll get cut off>"Bleed" area is the allowance for cut offs>ScreentonesIs it better to have a variety or do I really ever need just one pattern? Should it look as fine as possible, as if it just looks gray?Screentones are so damn hard to make look good, I don't know how you guys do it.
>>7400406>DPICommon wisdom is that 600 DPI is plenty. My publisher has me send them the files at 1200 DPI, though they mentioned that 600 DPI is plenty just for the inks. They want it big for the tones.>print marginsYeah that's about right. Just know that they're guidelines and that each print shop has the exact trim cut off slightly differently. If you're only working with one publisher or one printer then just get the guides from them and you won't need to think about it at all beyond that. Or just make sure that anything you care about being clear and legible is in the safe area.>screentonesJust use whatever looks good to you. Some pros just stick to the bog standard S-61 dot pattern (in CSP that 60 frequency 10% density, it's the most common tone sheet used in manga) while some go crazy with it. Keep in mind that the tones look very different before printing than they do after printing, so it's always gonna look kinda weird on your end if your only reference are the reproduced pages rather than the originals.>Screentones are so damn hard to make look good, I don't know how you guys do it.Years and years of fucking around with them. I eventually realized if the tones look bad it's because you fucked something up, turns out if you just export the pages at a reasonable resolution with the appropriate settings it'll just werk. If it doesn't just werk for you, tweak your export settings until it looks right. Press buttons, see what they do until the problem goes away.
>>7400406>Is it better to have a variety or do I really ever need just one pattern? That depends on who you ask. Some here might say just do the screentone conversion in CSP and call it a day, don't stress it. Others like me like to use halftone/screentone brushes and apply it manually.>Screentones are so damn hard to make look goodLess is more. It's tempting to go ham on them but you easily run the risk of making a muddled mess.
>>7400406>Why is 350 rarely mentioned or any other DPI?Printer settings.1200 is nice because of the margins it gives you, upscales and weird things you do will be unnoticeable when people view the <600 DPI output

I would just simply need to tell immigration that I changed sponsors. That's it. It's super simple.>>7400575I teach English to little kids at a private company.>>7400609They make you make X amount of one shots generally just to help you improve your overall manga skills to a professional level. Once you get there, they start pushing toward trying to pitch them something serialization-worthy. At least that's been my experience. We made around... 5? or so one shots. None of them won anything except the first one with Alice, which won honorable mention at one of their awards. Afterwards my editor suggested I enter a contest for Magapoke which was themed around the idea of "Romance" (as in the classical concept of Romance - adventure, etc...) and he felt my western sensibilities could bring something fresh to the table. So, I pitched what we called the "Gothic Fantasy" manga idea to him, saying "look, you can't get more Romantic than Victorian Gothic Horror" and generally proposed him the idea for the manga. It began with Alice, since I have a lot of faith in her potential for popularity and took it from there. If Alice is (at that time a witch) who uses blood magic to hunt monsters (beasts), then logically the protagonists should be her opposite, and should be a werewolf. And from there we came up with Rune. My editor liked the first draft of the first story so much, he asked me if it was ok to show it to his boss at the next editorial meeting. And the rest is history.
>>7400676>I'd prefer to keep a low profile onlineUnderstandable, that's why I'm just looking for a way to contact you. Don't care if there's no way to tie it to you, just want to check in occasionally without having to wait for you to pop into the threads once a year.

I don't like establishing shots/scenery panels because I feel like I'm wasting the reader's time and need to get to the point because I'm already intruding on their life by having them even read it.
>>7400786Why think like that? Its a bigger waste of their time to confuse them and make them wonder where the fuck your story is even taking place.
>>7400786>I don't like establishing shots/scenery panelsThe reader needs to know where they are. And depending on the pacing of the story, scenery panels can double as money shots with the beautiful detail put in. It makes the world alive. If you find the environs you are putting your characters in boring, then you need to think about why that is.
>>7400793This. If something is boring to draw, then it's probably boring to look at too.
>>7400786I took cross-hatching anons advice, and took the nature pill, trying a story that doesn't revolve around the big city. It's fun drawing nature, and you can really do anything you want with it. >>7400676>keep a low profile onlineis this necessary? is it bad if you try to make it with an stablished art account displaying your stuff or is that only a thing you should worry about once you've made it proper??
>>7401069(NTA) It shouldn't matter too much, but I think it's definitely for the best to lay low and stay quiet in terms of managing stress. People, both fans and haters, do actually go crazy about even the most minor e-celebs and it's not something any sane person would want to deal with when they already have something as stressful as a comic to make, plus all the internal bs that goes on with shitty higher-ups looking to cancel series to cut costs.Even then, some platforms like Webtoons see a pre-built audience as almost mandatory, and it can help with showing that your idea(s) can be popular standing alone, so as long as you're not getting into fights with people or saying anything controversial it probably doesn't matter at the end of the day. But still you never know what seemingly irrelevant thing will set people off, especially nowadays.

You're just going "hurr not real manga" and then backpedaling pretending you're doing this in good will to motivate people when called out. You're also pretending that the top tier artists on pixiv and twitter from Asoa are representative of the skills and style of the populous as whole. Shut the fuck up dude.
>>7402669It's you against the world, champ. Go make your manga and prove everyone wrong.
>>7402684>>7402686You're retarded lol. Anyone can tell you omniman is from the west and one punch man is from the east with one glance. And no it's not just "art style" anyone can tell you panty & stocking or pop team epic is Japanese despite their unique artstyle. There's a standard of quality and design philosophy Japanese artists have. You're denying culture exists, you're denying technique exists because you're fed up with people saying your 'manga' looks like westoid garbage. Kindly tongue my anus, retard.
Is doing studies the best way to improve comic skills? I mainly do studies, but im worried itll just make me better at copying other artists, instead of making original work
>>7402697>but im worried itll just make me better at copying other artists, instead of making original workFeel free to share your "study"/copy.
Heres some art I made of my comic to add onto to my last comment. Any critiques are valuable
>>7402702sure >>7402697 is one of my studies, that annoyingly rotated, and >>7402704 is some original work which you can definitely see the quaility drop in. and heres another study below cause why not.
>>7402697Making comics is the best way to improve comic skills.
>>7402669Arguing on 4chan hardly seems like pushing yourself to the limit. Get lost and go draw cause I know your ass isn't going to post any art, lol.
>>7402709How can I use manga making to help me improve in other areas? Like comissioning, making art for social media etc.
>>7402928Both I and the post I was replying to said comic skills, not marketing or business skills.

Do any of you bastards know what this tone isIt looks so good but I can't find it anywhere
>>7403322look into kakeami maybe
>>7403325Didn't find that specific one but it helps, thank you for teaching me a new term anon.
>>7402928>>7402940manga making is more like a separate skill set, people are usually looking for pretty colors and art that is nice to look at when it comes to commissions, as for social media I guess following trends would be your best bet
>>7403512>>7402928Don't just "follow trends", you need to corner a niche that corresponds to the kind of thing you offer. That means don't make a bunch of shounen fan art if you draw horror manga, even if it's the most popular thing at the moment, because you want to capture an audience that is into horror rather than shounen. If your objective is to grow a follower base then you actually should heavily center around 1-3 select subjects and only occasionally dip into trends, franchises, etc.Know your audience. Took me way too long to figure out, but it makes everything so much easier.
>>7402925Looks good
>>7402669Hi, Howard!
>>7403512>>7403537I mean how could I learn/practice things in my manga that could be useful for other areas in the future? For example, I intend to make lineless artwork for the cover of my manga (just like picrel) not only because it looks cool as fuck, but also because I want to learn how to paint like that for future comissions. I'm talking about ways to improve my skill level and learn new techniques as I write my manga
>>7403550Thanks, anon. Though that last panel doesn't look half as good as I expected it to heh. I might work more on it
>>7403610>lineless artwork for the cover of my manga (just like picrel)Anon that pic is not lineless.
>>7403614Uuuhhh yeah but... The lines are barely noticeable. This one is a beter example
>>7403610>>7403617well, you study and use references while you are drawing your manga, if you want to learn how to paint then you paint, drawing black and white manga by itself won't teach you how to color
>>7403322IC's S-619 is very similar. It's on CSP's asset store though not for free.
>>7403617Practice pain-ting over a clasical pain-tingThat's what i did and i got a way better understanding of how to paint
>>7403803post it
>>7403924https://files.catbox.moe/6i2uzq.png
>>7400351I just noticed, but is Victor a nod at Black Jack?
>>7403912Dont you mean "pain-t" ?
>>7403325Is there a good catalog/list + tutorial of non-screentone techniques like this? Unfortunately screentone isn't available in my country.
>>7403912What's up with the "paint-ting"

Does this belong here?I'm having a tremendous amount of trouble thinking of a name for an alien character
>>7404463What's the character?
>>7404490she's an amphibian lizard girlI was thinking about using the scientific name of an aquatic reptile as inspiration but salamanders newts and axolotls don't really have nice scientific names to draw from. then I was thinking maybe using the name of river goddesses from different regions but nothing sounded very alien.
>>7404501I'd go super simple, 2 or 3 letters max for a name that's phonetically pleasant sounding and super easy to pronounce. Iio, Na, Iru, Lo, etc.
>>7404521>>7404501Do both. If she's an alien, go super latin/scientific name, then have her just go by something 1 syllable name for short.>Hi, I'm Anthrolithic, Hylopotonus.>But you can call me Lil
>>7404501Call her Hydra
>>7404047Because it hurts>>7403998Actually i thing it would be pain-ts>>7404501>>7404644Actually something like liz sound simple and good enough
