He was a Jew and he liked cunny. Idk, I think he is overrated. Guys like Carl Larsson for example could draw way better.
The thing I dislike about is that his paintings just look like generic genre paintings but with added shock value. There is nothing extraordinary about them apart from the fact that he painted cunny and still got put into museums (probably because he is a Jew, same how Polanski was allowed to drug and rape a 13 year old and whole Hollywood spoke him free)Pic related is a masterfully painted child. To me they just try to depict child sexuality in an uncanny light and make people uncomfortable.Surrealists were often hacks. They tried to be so deep but in the end, they couldn't really paint. I'm personally much more a fan of proto-surrealism and dark romanticism. They actually knew how to portrait beauty, unlike surrealists.
