How can I get an artist name? I don't like my real name. It sounds stupid. But I've never been good with coming up with nicknames. I also don't have any friends who gave me nicknames. How should I call myself?
>>
>>7406915
You don't draw. You should probably put pen to paper at regular intervals before you worry about stupid shit like "artist names."
>>
>>7406916
I just finished practicing torsos, what are you talking about? Now I have to buy food. Come back later.
>>

Random numbers if you're Japanese, anything that isn't a real word but sounds like it could, if western
If you use the word draw/drawing or any derivatives kys

Hmm, what about “Schublade”?

To anyone in thread: How did you come up with your artist name?
>>
>>7406936
my full legal name. im a tradchad and im not a degen, i dont need to resort to childish nicknames and gimicks to hide my identity and make it easier for mouthdrooling retards to find me on the internet by having some easy to remember username
>>
>>7406927
Did you just translate "drawer" into German, bro? Schublade is not referring to the act of drawing, so that anon wouldn't demand your head on a plate, it refers to furniture. Used as a name, you'd be assumed German with a "lolsorandumb" sense of humor, and non-Germans would be split on calling you shoo-BLADE or shub-laddy. It might be a suitable name if you were mostly drawing chubby chicks getting dicked, I guess.

More power to you and all, man, but you don't get to be obnoxious for that.

Google: [culture] god of [subject you draw] or just [thing you like]
Alter it to a name that will have few google results

ie:
>draw elves.
>google "welsh god of elves".
>Wikipedia page for Tylwyth Teg first result on google.
>Tylwyth Teg (Middle Welsh for "Fair Family") is the most usual term in Wales for the mythological creatures corresponding to the fairy folk of Welsh and Irish folklore. Other names for them include Bendith y Mamau ("Blessing of the Mothers"), Gwyllion and Ellyllon

name: Ellywyth (Ellyllon + Tylwyth)
0 matching results on google.

Do this until you figure out a name you like. You can also borrow from pop culture, like for a character I took Frejya and Khaleesi to get Khaleyja, or take words in different languages and change a few letters, Emerald in swahili is zumaridi, so a name could be Zumara.
This is if you want a name that sounds like an actual name. You could also just take random shit and make that your brand. Rakfork/rakspoon, cutesexyrobutts, speedosausage, etc.

Interesting. I will have a look at that and see what I can come up with. Thanks.

My first artist name was the nickname my whole family used to call me since I was a kid.
I came up with my second artist name at a time when I was reading about Slavic mythology, so I just picked the name that caught my attention the most.

your art is shit so it doesnt matter. Picking out the drapes before you've learned how to built a house
>>
>>7407364
your name is a foundation to your art career. it's not something you typically decide upon well after you're done building up who you are.

You the baker of this thread? Post your work
>>
>>7407406
no I'm not op, I'm just saying it's kind of stupid to decide your name well after you started your journey.
A name is the absolute most fundamental building block of who you are.
>>
>>7407368
So you think I should forget about a nickname and just use my real name? What about a variation of my real name? Picking out parts I find and altering other parts, is this allowed?
>>
I guess I'm just not born to be an artist anyway. My name is the name of a farmer. I should have become a farmer, like my brother has.

NTA but you going out of your way to make a meaningless sketch in a childish attempt to caricature him and/or his point isnt any better, if anything it's worse.
You could have explained why his point is wrong without having to make a fool out of yourself.
>>7407426
>>7407452
Obviously NTA, but you're not exactly right either. An artist's name is not a necessity when you're an artist unless you're getting your name out there, and it's not something you come up with if you're just getting the bearings of the craft. It is an essential thing to start your career sure, but that is assuming you are already familiar enough with art to share your work to the world, otherwise you shouldn't even be thinking about a name because you don't even know who you are as an artist.
Now PYW because those numbers got me curious lol.
