how do you effectively use construction for anatomy?post constructed figures please, i learn by example.
>>7408026>just draw the whole body lol
>>7408025I think starting with Morpho's simplified forms is a good place to start since it teaches you simplified forms which are easy to draw and understand. Then after you have the basics down you can go with more advances books. I think the guy the other anon posted is pretty good (Xiao Weichun). I enjoy his style personally and it's much more modern than other advanced anatomy books, but you can go with Bridgman, Hampton, Hogarth, etc. Really comes down to taste and what makes sense to you.

>>7408025draw from life and you'll naturally rely on simple forms to draw what you see
>>7408136Go back to your containment thread faggot. Absolutely useless input irrelevant to the question asked purely stated to mentally maturbate yourself.
>>7408146>how do you effectively use construction for anatomy?
>>7408032are you stupid?
>>7408025This is how I do it.
>>7408136you dont even draw
>>7408792is this some kind of projection?
>>7408797from you
>>7408805what do you mean?
>>7408025The idea is to get a sense of the 3d-ness of whatever you're drawing. Different methods work better for different applications, I don't use a lot of lineart, so I keep it very loose, but if you struggle with visualizing forms feel free to use as many shapes as you want. There are no rules, use what you need to.
>>7408032>>7408146>>7408792You talk like a fag and your shit's all retarded
>bro there are no rules>no scientifically proven reddit approved roadmaps one-size-fits-all>just improvise brobruh
>>7409054Yes
>>7408025It helps to make some cross-contour lines. You get an idea of the volume of whatever you are drawing which helps you visualize the image. Centre lines, half-cuts, etc.
>>7409129Can you show me an example of this?
>>7409132Look up tutorials on youtube. Akihito Yoshitomi and David Finch for example. Cubes, circles and pipes are your biggest friend. You have to learn each body part individually. It takes time.
Here is an example. With the help of this drawing, you can draw characters in perspective.
>i learn by example>doesn't learn by exampleevery single time
>>7408843love the end result. One of those cases where a gesture drawing beforehand would ave helped, though. I say that as someone who constructs too stiff figures. You still mog me.
>>7408787oh wow this is nice, where'd you learn to construct like that? also do you know of any good vids abt construction? its nice to watch somebody construct in real time.
>>7409216Looks like Weichun
>>7409231Oh you mean the Weichun that's been stated 4 times in this thread already that Weichun?
>>7409150i do THOUGH
>>7409231>Weichunsomehow i keep pushing that one back behind other resources. i will now read your book.
>>7409216>where'd you learn to construct like that?Anatomy knowledge, knowing how to constructYou just have to know how to construct a body, and learn where all the muscles, fat and bones are.
>>7408843Are there more examples like this? I often find myself drawing big, inaccurate shapes and then chiseling at it away until it resembles what I want it to. This kind of seems exactly like that, just in a much cleaner and efficient way.
>>7409253Anon that's a fairly standard workflow. Construction>Lineart>Greyscale>Color.
>>7409257I know. The problem is that I don't know how to construct a figure quickly and accurately.
>>7409276You have to know the proportions. How long are the legs compared to the body? How long is the upper leg compared to the lower leg? How many heads is the body tall? How big is the upper body? There is a lot of anatomical knowledge that goes into this. The rest is just drawing boxes, pipes and circles and some basic perspective.
Or just use a photo and trace everything. Also fine.
>>7409282Hmmm. Maybe the issue is that I'm drawing proportions without measuring, causing constant redraws that waste a lot of my time... gotta study this.>>7409286No pain no gain
>>7408026how is this construction? This is just drawingconstruction doesn't mean "draw detailed muscles" its supposed to be a way to figure out how to draw something for the first time. So post an example of someone drawing construction boxes to break down a shape instead of drawing a completed figure.
>>7409253this is what I do too. I have no talent for drawing so I draw something dogshit and then spend 80% of my time doing surgery on it until it looks good.
>>7409343>draw some squiggles as a vague base>now draw the rest of the bodyThat's how people sctually do constructionThe box stuff is solely the domain of autists who hate drawing
>>7409349the meme of construction needs to be put to an end
>>7409216I'm the anon who posted the drawing (just clarifying because some others have already replied). Thank you. I didn't learn from any one source (never heard of Weichun, by the way). Instead, I adapted different ideas, whatever worked for me.There really isn't a one-size-fits-all approach, because it depends on your aims and aesthetic sensibilities. Especially with imaginative work, with a strong stylistic imprint, so much of the character of the finished work is determined by the process and by how the artist conceives of and simplifies the figure and anatomy. But you have to start somewhere. You need to learn basic anatomy, proportions and the mechanics of the figure. This is the hidden knowledge that goes into the so-called "simplified figures" that so many teachers present as an easy solution to students wanting to learn how to draw figures. The truth is that simplified figures only *look* simple, because a lot of information has been distilled. The joints of the human body are not like the joints of a mannequin.Roberto Osti is very beginner-friendly for learning anatomy and simplification of the figure. He has several books and lots of videos, both free and paid. If you can afford it and are serious about learning, you might try one of these paid courses:https://robertoosti.com/stereometry-catalog/I am not affiliated with him in any way, but he has a very gentle, step-by-step approach and all the drawing is done with pencils on paper in real time so you can follow along.Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll be happy to answer as best I can. Good luck, anon.
>>7409364So Weichun? Alright will do
>>7409364Excuse me sir, but thats a really weird way to spell Xiao Weichun
>>7409364This dude's book on Amazon looks absolutely insane (in a good way), I'll try it out.
