>>7422091I have not improved. I will not improve
I haz posted thine thing many a times in many a thread. Im working on somtin new but it ain,t redy yet so ....Here i go....again
I'll probably won't get a whole level up this year, but improvement should be unavoidable
I still draw her stories. I think I can draw her better now
>>7422132Pyw?
I'm only pmw if you promise you'll call me a pro
>>7422096you're left handed aren't you?
>>7422609Right, but I write like it’s left, if that makes any sense
I know I'm still beg, the question is if I'm still lowbeg or I've made it to midbeg yet.I feel like I've made some progress in anatomy and construction, but don't really get the other fundies like colors and shadows yet
>>7422096/low-int/hard to judge based on one close up portrait but eye and lip area lack definition and shadow shape for the zygo grabs unwanted attention.>>7422145/high-beg/colors feel muddy, the back of the 2nd girl's head is non existent, practice value and rendering>>7422177/mid-int/based on it being an anime girl in a void, not much can be faulted here>>7422188N/A>>7422636/mid-beg/these look like studies for the most part, keep goingI tired to be objective but feel free to disagree
it's ogre>>7422096I like the hatching but where's the ear? /beg/>>7422145Composition is neat but please lay off the airbrushes a bit. /beg/>>7422177Nice colors /int/>>7422188Janky but sovlful, /beg/>>7422597/pro/, now pyw>>7422636I have a feeling you're using single-color shadows, causing your work to look very muted. You should paint in the color of your shadows too; shadows that are in skin areas should be painted darkish red, for example. It's just what works best for me.
people really should post 3-4 image summaries to get some grasp of their skill level. one image is usually pretty hard to judge artists as a whole
>>7422922>3-4 image summariesi don't draw that much
>>7422925surely everyone has at least 3 finished pieces
>>7422091posting so that i can see how much further i'll make it next year. hopefully i'll actually finish more stuff by then
>>7422906Airbrushes? G pen only baby. And the finger, blur, blend tool XD
>>7422932mind if i ask what references you use? for the nude figures
New year boys. You're all gonna go up at least 1 power level if you keep drawing
>>7422932hey DOM, nice to see your art again. Keep trucking on my friend. Cat is looking SPICY, very clear improvement!
>>7422896>based on it being an anime girl in a void, not much can be faulted herenigga
>>7422091I am the strongest /prebeg/
>>7422896Ye . I tryed to understand what makes muddy colors and avoid it. I had failed apparently, . Still high beg is an improvement over the previous midbeg (last summer ). Im going to try teh sticky to try an learn bout colors. And shitAnd find some other rendering tutorials. Will do no background to save time from Now on for my practice. (Will deal with backgrounds at a later date)As far as the head, i tryed to make the hair extra puffy but it just looked wierd so I lowered the back (a bit much ) , should have thumbnailed it before i started. Considering nobody complained about gesture, perspective or anatomy, compositions ecc. i will keep that practice mild just so i dont get rusty. So colors ,values, light and shadow.Highbeg would mean competency in all/almost all areas but these 3 are laggin behind (no wonder i just started using color , and found out about values slightly less then a yearago)>>7422906 the XD wasnt meant as a mocking gesture. I did use aibrushes to try and give the tower some texture (not as succ cessfull as i would like, the rest is G pen and blend tools . My rendering/colors ain't where i would want them to be. >Thank you for taking the time to respond. I hope i can use this to get meself upgrayed>Would anyone like to see otherstuff i made so interested partyes can determine common areas in which i am lacking
>>7422188Oh yeah that for sure better then before i like those before too but this is way cleaner good job anon.
>>7422932Nigga you know you good dont ego post>>7423051High beg, but I always give bonus points for trad.So low int.
>>7422932Low int. No aesthetic appeal but good fundamentals. You may as well take a photo. There's so much bluntness and force and mere copying of real life. What's the point of becoming highly skilled but not creating anything original or beautiful? Unironically >>7422906 has more appeal because it has style and soul.
>>7423092Whole problem is that you overrender and use too many values. Stick to few and you are good.
>>7422896>these look like studies for the most partTop-right and bottom-left were studies, the other two I referenced similar poses and obviously they are not my characters, but were from imagination otherwise.>keep goingWill do, thank you>>7422906>I have a feeling you're using single-color shadowsI don't really have a specific way of doing shadows yet, top left is exactly what you're describing though, yes. I tried to use different colors for the bottom right, like a blueish pink for the skin for example, but that was mostly just picked at random. But yeah, I also think it still looks pretty muted, so I don't think it worked.>shadows that are in skin areas should be painted darkish redThat's a good tip, thank you. I'm gonna start doing more studies regarding color and shadow, so hopefully I'll get better at those
>>7422925Then you shouldn't be rated yet, honestly

>>7423336He's cute got more?
>>7422091For the life of me I cannot understand why /pro/ is defined the way that it is. If /pro/ requires "manifest mastery" that happens to also be commercializable, then what does that mean regarding [insert artwork here] from mangakas or western comic artists (like Rob Liefield) where there are very glaring flaws that any artist will notice (and even normies if it's bad to that insane degree)? If anyone of us had drawn those panels/infamous artworks and presented it we'd be slaughtered on /ic/ and yet these artists are doing it and by every definition are working professionals who shitty art is being commercialized. You can be anywhere on the quality power level ranking and yet still be a "professional." /pro/ frankly makes no sense.
>>7423575A. CherrypickingB. Liefeld became well known BECAUSE of his art style. It was cool at one point, believe it or not. There's no reason you can't say the same thing about deformed anime girls with giant tits.C. Just because there is a standard that professionals should aspire to, does not mean everyone with a job reaches that standard. There really, truly, are not enough artists with both the skill and appeal to fill every job. And appeal is more important in the most visible cases.
>>7423595cute girl * smooches *
>>7423597Nobody on /ic/ can even agree as to who even fits the mold of /pro/. Any anon who posts an artist will immediately get 3-5 anons who reflexively scream that [artist] is shit, was always shit, and that [anon] is insane for having thought they fit. It's a perfect goal that nobody can ever reach which is insane because we're just talking about simply being a professional, not a literal god.
>>7423610nta but you think because there are a few retards and ragebait faggots that we cant ignore them and agree on who is actually a good artist?>Hmmm, well 99.99% of people agree, but this retard who cant even spell his own name disagrees, so I guess we cant agreeThis isn't a hung jury
>>7423575it's not fair to compare liefeld's mistakes to a /beg/'s though, any /pro/ can make poor anatomy look good with enough grasp on style and composition. like, the infamous cap art's chest anatomy and perspective are clearly ass, but it's such an intentional exaggeration of how yoked cap is that it doesn't look as bad as it couldalso "manifest mastery" is an important part of that, there is plenty of commercialized art with clearly no grasp on fundamentals. like i wouldn't call one or isayama /pro/ because of this
>>7423645>also "manifest mastery" is an important part of that, there is plenty of commercialized art with clearly no grasp on fundamentals. like i wouldn't call one or isayama /pro/ because of thisThen what is the ranking for people who are professionals yet somehow, apparently, aren't /pro/? They're all /int/?
>>7423652yes. i've seen vendors at cons that sell 1 minute doodles draw decent crowds, art is ultimately subjective but how we rank each other is based on fundamentals rather than how much we enjoy a piece of art or how much it speaks to us
>>7423652Probably. I like a lot of illustrators who would not be pro based on this chart, which is based on draftsmanship. You don’t need to be a master to succeed. But it certainly would help depending on what industry you go into, like animation or concept art

There's not a single person rating shit here, lol.
if we're going by the OP criteria>>7423595high/beg/>>7423782high/beg/ but better than the above
Since we're talking about power-level criteria, here's my take on it:>/pro/ (picrel)Artists who have a rock-solid grasp of composition, perspective, rendering, and everything related to art in general. Basically industry-professional concept artists.>high /int/Artists with a decent grasp of composition, perspective, rendering, and everything related to art in general. >low /int/Artists with a decent grasp of perspective and 3d forms who can draw and render appealingly, but are incapable of complex backgrounds or compositions.>high /beg/Artists who can draw appealingly but lack a decent understanding of 3d forms. perspective, and rendering.>low /beg/Artists who can't draw or color in an appealing way.

>>7426167nah bro, there are plenty of people who use a similar style, you're just uncultured as fuck. As a matter of fact, my style is inspired by Marco Bucci's Graphic Style video, it just evolved in it's own glassy aesthetic over time. There are also other games with my style, like for example "We, the Revolution".
>>7427244Definitely high beg. I want to say the two on the left are already low int, but I'm not confident in saying that, cause I'm not there myself yet.

>>7426963I can dig this. It's a pretty standard fantasy design but it's done really well. For a few suggestions, I would add in some sharper details as it's overall very soft. Also, a blank background is pretty boring. Even just adding swirling colors (like a portal or something) behind him would make it look more finished. (something like pic related)

>>7432486Yup 1000 times better less values more cleaner image. Good job. Just remember that if you want your stuff to be clean for people that will be viewing your art then you want to make it so that the most important parts are the most visible and you achieve it by using few values and bit of saturation. In your new entry sword pops out because it takes the majority of space and it's clearly defined. Next is head because of lighting using that blue light is good for attracting attention to it and then hips. Overall good job.
>>7432496Thank you
>>7432497No problem im just glad that there are people who keeps drawing and actually take critique to their heart and improve. This shit is rare and to be honest we need more people like this specially in this days where everybody is rather using AI, it's good to see human work. So keep going you have at least my support even tho it's not much.
>>7432486>>7429694I can't really comment on the technique other than I think your lines should be crisper, too many little random lines that don't actually imply anything. My main issue is it feels like you're trying to tell a story but her expression, pose and vibe aren't really helping achieve that. Like, I can't tell what her relation is with the blue bug, You should insert more energy into the drawing to make the idea more obvious. But ultimately the drawing is nice desu, not worth revising. Just move onto the next one and stop worrying about becoming int.
>>7429740Construction. It's not just about limb length but every body part has a volume. You really aren't feeling that volume. On top of that you messed up a few proportions.
>>7432583Yea there is a story, basically i wanted a combo of industrial desolation and fantastical magic but i havent practiced storytelling/narative yet..... im workin on things 1 by 1. Basically. Work on anatomy, some practice later.. gud nuff, work on perspective..80s synth training montage... good nuff, workin on colors... timeskip... okayish, not great .. ecc. If i do it differently i get kinda overwhelmed. And after getting it to a certain point i can see my own mistakes and correct them but i have to reach a certan degree of competence on each one. I can dabble here and there with this or that but to dedicade time to learn something deeply. For lineart i had more of a tecnological limitation. I have a relatively small relatively low res screen. The only time the shitty lineart and escaped "ink"rears its head on my devices is when i zoom in or fullscreen it on a big(but old) tv. Working required frequent multiple toolbar colapsing so it was clinky and extra slow. So i just ignored it. Today I figured out a way to work on it on my tv fullscreened with no toolbar shrinking my workspace While still being easy to acess so i should improve it quickly...i hope... , now i just have to burn values into my skull so i dont forget like i did 2 times already.. Then comes a deeper reading of colortheory, i tryed it but the text started mentioning eye cones and shit so i figured 1 by 1 . Then storytelling and narative. And after that it should be just practice and experimentation, refinement plus a serving figure , life and gesture.
>>7422091I regularly give criticism on here so it's only fair I post my work.
TYSM anons and wish you the best on your art journies.>>7430208Yea , placed the boobs too high.>you're on the righ path thoGlad to hear, what would the wrong path be?What about right path... so I don't end up deviating.>>7431769Tummy is flat on purpose. Granted considering the rest of her body it is an unusual body fat distribution (didn't consider that when drawing her, I just went "flat tummy".)>The right forearm is longer then the upperarm despite being at an angle.I think I tried to do some perspective stuff there but failed so it just looks off.Should practice drawing legs and shins more. The drawing was mainly linework practice (from that one lines sensei video on lineart) rather than anatomy practice.>>7432906Need to practice volumes again.Kind of rusty on perspective and 3D stuff.
>>7422091I am low /beg/ because all I've done since new years is fundie exercises. Still not convinced I am holding the pen right, but at least I can draw straight lines. I will not post my work because I have none. Will report back in 3 years with progress. Thanks for reading my blog post.P.s. since when did you have to wait 15 mins to post?
I'm thinking 3 or 4
>>7433631Probly 4 yeh, but it's really good tho, it's hard to tell from that drawing, but really high potential. Post more please
>>7433216If you want to get good at perspective. Attempt to construct cars in perspective with references only serving to get shapes and details """correctly""". You will fail again and again but you will get reall good at intuiting perspective. You have fims, dimples, headlights, things goin in an out, flares, boxes complex winddhields. It is a fuck but it is what helped me with perspective to a degree
>>7431848stop lying you're going to hurt the beggies' mental
>>7433631between low and mid beg.
>>7431833might be mid /int/, possibly high /int/ and yet I wouldn't be surprised if that's just a low /int/ who has good brush and coloring technique. It's hard to say due to the derivative style.I'd also have to see a high effort piece.Definitely some sort of /int/, though. You also definitely have a strong grasp of your drawing software. Caught myself wondering which brushes you use.
>>7434143I believe him.
>>7434143Wdym? I draw roughly four images per year, I think that qualifies me as nodraw at this point as I stopped drawing to improve a long time ago and only do it for fun now and then.
>>7434177So I normally only use a pencil brush called "real pencil", the watercolor blender, and the basic airbrush. I dont really use fancy brushes. I will say the top right one in the og post was me trying to experiment with brushes more.
>>7428919Pro… kind of reminds me of jthm but better. I hope you produce a comic, I want to read something in this style so bad>>7434389High int>>7433631Upper beg>>7432681Lowish beg
>>7434389thanks for your insight. And yeah, that one looks great to me
test
>>7434387nodraw implies you've never drawn before, to my understanding at least
>>7434605No that's prebeg, nodraw is if you stop drawing or don't draw at all
>>7424826Anon these are blurry as shit
>>7434579Well aren't you in luckthesuicidekid.artIt's very very wip right now this is kinda like the rough draft. And cool art, like Scott Pilgrim but better. Pro. Blog?
>>7435336Can you give me a rating instead of a comment on something I CLEARLY disclaimed?
Been drawing for a few years so far, how does this look, do I need to do more figure studies?
>>7423224You could go ham with commissions. Wont rate it, buts its definitely good
>>7436084Yeah, more studies. It looks like you've tried to draw this character in your own style but you still don't quite understand anatomy so the oversized hands and undersized thighs just look bad not like something you did on purpose. pic unrel
>>7436819i'm in no position to judge powerlevel but based lopesbro. looks sick
>>7436084How about posting your art you flaming faggot? KYS>>7436959Troglodyte IQ KYSx2
>>7437482lol, usually people don't notice when I post professionals, usually get told they're beg paintings or illustrations
>>7434579Man I wish I had socials so I could follow you. Your work was a perfect study for how to draw clothing when I saw it a year or so back. Def high int. Pro at your own style
seeing all the garbage from perma/beg/s in these threads makes me feel much better about AI replacing us allmany were simply ngmi
>>7422917Low int, love the style
>>7424882>>7424885>>7424888I would hang your stuff in my house
Gonna take a huge shot in the dark here because I can't really find a way to get feedback on my stuff.Attached is a screenshot of a game I'm working on. Would you say it has any appeal or is too passable?
>>7439576I like your stuff anon. My only concern is that everything is a bit too dark - both the background image with the soldier as well as the menu AI just feels too dark. It's a bit hard to see/differentiate the starved soldier from the campfire that's literally right next to him, the portraits on the left are all extremely dark and it's a bit hard to see details, and the menu borders themselves for the buttons and windows are all (for me personally) a bit too dark as well. If you look at other games like Diablo 1 or Darkest Dungeon you'll see that they had either the buttons/items/abilities be super colorful and bright, the menu be super colorful and bright, or both. All of that said, I do like your work/art style. I just think a few more lighting/contrasting elements could be used to help the eye immediately differentiate more which is critical in a videogame.
>>7439591That is a point I definitely feel but I have no idea how to address. I sort of pigeonholed myself into working with extreme darks due to me spending a long time on assets with wonky gamma. Part of me is inclined to basically rebuild everything from scratch but sunk cost fallacy and all that. I really appreciate the feedback. This one has a bit more pop but I feel like I sort of need to admit the game is built on a shitty value foundation that needs a total rehaul
>>7439593If you're unwilling to do an overhaul (and I get it), then there should be some quick and dirty fixes you could try. You could try simply increasing the brightness on the existing colors as is, or you could simply add another layer of extreme bright highlights for your character (assuming they made sense for the character and materials they have on them) to show reflections from light sources and whatnot. You could also instead give them a simple white stroke outline so that the player's eyes are always able to immediately read on what they are looking at.
>>7439596Ive made some edits to the brightness on some of them but I think the visual workload debt is going to catch up. A lot of the assets were built using a base value that I think is going to push me to do either a rebuild or a new project. Thanks again for the feedback.
>>7439593Different anon, but I think your darks actually aren't going anywhere near dark enough. You could push that darker brown color straight into black. Contrast is the major thing making it look boring.Unrelated to the values, though, I really do not dig that light brown color in the UI. It is just very unappealing, personally, I'd either desaturate it into a gray or saturate it to gold. Helps quite a bit with the contrast issue, coincidentally.Try to avoid using chromatic aberration in areas with lots of fine details like the scrollwork on the UI. It becomes very painful to look at like your eyes can't focus on it correctly.Aesthetically, the UI feels very unfocused. It feels like every button is trying to be a different style rather than everything being cohesive. Look at how different the border on the nameplates are compared to the body icon, for example. And compared to the stats, and the candle, and the HP bar. Every one of those boxes has a different border style.A lot of it's pretty good still though
>>7439608UI saturation examples
>>7439608>>7439609>BlacksHmmm I'll have to try that. That might just work. In theory I could probably put a tiny bit of purple in like Mike Boedges does with his extreme darks. Thanks a lot for the feedback. I think I have a lot of work ahead.
>>7439593I don't suppose you have a social, anon? I would love to follow your progress.
>>7439933Yeah I got a bluesky https://bsky.app/profile/afteralive.bsky.socialRight now I'm going through a bit of an artistic identity crisis so my posts are very few and far between while I unfuck myself. Part of me really wants to drop the pixel art aesthetic and go back to line and color with hatching for a similar look. It's so much more scalable and takes a lot less time.
fuck you /ic/! I never did "the grind", I picked the stylus whole three times last year and I just did so once again now. I definitely improved a lot, by NOT DRAWING.dont get me wrong I still suck ass, but I have been sporadic artist for about a decade, with months long periods of not drawing and then drawing just only a bit only to go dormant again and every time I pick it up after I hiatus I get noticeably better and things feel effortless.the grind mentality this board pushes only sucks all the joy out of the hobby.do shit for fun, it makes things so much easier and you will improve regardless, its easier to do so when you dont put pressure on yourself, expecting results that dont come
>>7424779You're at a level where you could find work in a niche indie prod. Though I'd need to see some isometric scenes, storytelling and cleaner angles focused on characters to be able to accurately assess your skill. I'd say you're at a solid mid int. I think the style and colors are cohesive, your compositions are fine. Your work needs clearer focal points whether through the use of perspective or value/color. Definitely keep it up, I think if you master cinematography/storytelling you have adv potential. Your two best stills are top right and the one right under. Top left would have been the best if it was a lower angle shot with a clearer view of the character expression.
Im finally feeling it
>>7440688dude good job, looks great! which ref pack you using, btw-? such expressive posture
>>7440378Post work you fucking retard
Tell me my level /ig/
>>7440958No ref pack all invented from memory. But im not gonna lie i did browse a bit for michael jackson poses
>>7440978>falling for this obvious bait
