you have multiple horizon lines. your scaling is not good.

if you don't want to practice perspective take screenshots from sitcoms and use them as reference, measure yourself against tables and furniture. take photos of your home.

I put some details on my blobs, they werent a minute exactly, and creating them from scratch takes more time.
My main point was this - take your current drawing, whatever you're working on, can you recreate the pose with a blob like this using just a few lines? If it doesn't look good then your pose is lacking in clarity and flow.
Pic rel I used >>7426435 so I think it was exactly a minute. Btw I call these blobs "star people". You can see those guys on road signs, bathroom signs etc

What do you guys think of these designs. To keep it short, they're people in the first "golden age" of the setting, and in their attempt to make a better future they fucked up the entire history of the world. All of them have a long term effect in the story, some remain a presence as immortals in one way or another. This is them when they're young and hopeful. I'm sure I'll finish the pic at some point.

Understandable, that shit do be gaudy. I had made her wearing gray and brown at first, but not only does it go against the fact she's very wealthy, it made her too similar to Magak.

Good idea, thanks.

Good hands, so its not over yet. The head looks a bit weird, but the real problem is the tits. They shouldn't have angular shapes to them, they look like sacks of mashed potatoes instead of soft tits. Same thing for the ass, but to a lesser degree, the problem there is more so that one ass cheek is bigger than the other.

Sat down after not drawing for a while and just doodled aimlessly, resulting in this. First time I think since I was a kid that I just drew without an idea of what I wanted to make or an end goal in mind. First time in a while where I didn't use some kind of reference, either. My visual library is pretty shit so I often get frustrated with how my drawings look when I don't reference, but doodling this was so relaxing I think I can warm up to the idea. Bros... I think I just had fun drawing...

Had my first session yesterday evening. I don't think it lasted for longer than 30 minutes but it was decent fun. I'm on a no screen wacom despite recommendations of just using pen and paper.

Some struggles: Lines are wobbly, porportions are off, angles of body parts are off and generally it can be hard for me to catch whats wrong. Sometimes it helps to take a break and have another look a bit later.

I'm taking a drawing class in uni at the moment (free credits, baby) and in the first week you're supposed to upload "where you're at." The 4 Indian guys in class all either uploaded AI art or easily searchable images that go back to Instagrams from like 2018. Just why. Yes, every image has a comment on it calling them out, the professor just hasn't got to it, if they will.

I'm trying to be nice but dude what you did isn't cool. It's cyclops character and it's OC. Please just remove the offending character so this doesn't become a "thing." The pants are fine. Just do the work yourself in the future, thanks.
>>
>>7427065

It's literally Kazutora from Tokyo Revengers, a manga that's been out for ages. I'm making fan art.
He's baiting and I still have no idea who cyclops is but okay. Does he even look like what I drew? Wtf man. I didn't mean for my art to cause him to have an autistic rage fit. I just wanted to ask a question :(

>>
>>7427088
Somewhere between a little and a lot
"a year" can mean doodling once per week for an hour, or putting in hours of study and pushing yourself on original artwork every waking moment.
So there's not really a way to answer that if we don't know what you're doing for that year
>>
>>7427084
cyclops girl is big boobed military girl. They have nothing connecting them besides the hair. I'm not sure why someone is going on tirade like that. Not even cyclops himself seems to have seen any connection, since you both have posted in last couple threads, without anything like this happening
>>

I have been practicing this week every day at the very least 3 to 5 hours a day, i want to draw faces but i still dont know if i want to do anime or pseudo realistic or what you guys call capeshit.
>>
what can I do with the hands!? I've been practicing hands but when it comes to add them to a character I have no idea what to do
>>
>>7427084
Cyclops is this little guy who's obsessed with this one character of his. He's harmless, but I personally highly dislike people who obsess over small stuff. If you're gonna get hyper fixated on something, at least pick something complex/interesting and learn as much as yo can about it, you know. Like autists who know all about guns and military history, I love those guys.
>>
>>7427098
If you can keep that schedule up (and even if you take breaks from time to time but return to that schedule) and strive to improve, you'll probably make significant progress over a year. But even just half an hour is better than nothing, so take care not to burn out. You'll not end up a pro by any means after just one year, but if starting from nothing, you'll get somewhere at least.
>i still dont know if i want to do anime or pseudo realistic or what you guys call capeshit
If you're unsure, try drawing all of them for now until you figure it out. Being good at different stuff is never a bad thing.
And just in case your "practice" is just studying, don't forget to do some stuff for yourself as well. Could just be a study you build upon with your own ideas, or coming up with something from the ground up.

And remember, as long as you keep pushing yourself regularely, you'll improve
>>
>>7427101
Follow reference for that, at least for now. The big advantage of drawing digitally is that you can correct your mistakes as soon as you make them, with no damage to the page. As it is, go easier on the lines in the future, so you can correct them when necessary, like her waist line.
>>

You're so fucking wrong lmao. Elon has a strange view of the world, he wants to do what HE thinks is good for humanity, though its a skewered view. He sees humanity as a great organism, rather than a collective of individuals. I'm not gonna explain this to you, you're too clueless. You hate your enemy, that's fine, but you're too stupid to actually try to UNDERSTAND your enemy.

>elon only cares about his profits
Elon doesn't have a profit motive. Not really.
He is constantly seeking validation because he grew up unloved and the only thing he learned was that throwing money at people makes them do what you want.
Confronting the fact that you can't buy that love and validation scared him into a desperate search for acceptance and he tries to get it from anyone.
You can go back as far as you can in his life and you'll see him trying to do the same businesses over and over trying to form a group around him but no one wants him.

the reason I'm even drawing in the first place is cause it can't. It can get somewhat close, but that's it. AI can only do "anything you imagine" if you don't actually have an idea of what it should look like, but just want concepts

You have to put the advice into perspective. A lot of artists draw from the shoulder. You're just not seeing it because you're most likely watching people draw on a 13 or 16 inch pen display and not a 18 x 24 piece of newsprint paper on a drawing board, which is what most drawing books tend to recommend because they're either from a time before digital art existed or are books specifically on physical drawing. It's the same thing with holding the pencil vs. the stylus. Almost nobody is recommending you to hold your display tablet stylus like pic rel., but you'll get a lot of people telling you to hold your charcoal pencil like it. Different materials require different techniques.

You seem to be copying the method but not quite understanding what it's for. If you look at the contour lines on her near leg, it should be coming towards us but the direction is moving away. As for the pelvis, it looks to me as if it's in a more neutral position with the ribcage producing most of the pinch. You've also attached your arms to the top of the torso box, but if you wiggle your shoulders you can feel that the arms and shoulders can move more independently than that. They're both lifting up and away from the ribcage in your reference.

You already have most of what you need. You just have to clear your head and focus on a project, goal, whatever. Pic related is just one of the figure sketches that I saved from your stuff, just because it is that good. Sometimes getting out of the beg camp is a matter of attitude or just pure will. You stay beg because you want it to, you're comfortable there. It may have no sense to you right now, but you will get it, once your head snap out of it. Change your brush, change your canvas size, try trad media, you have it, you just need to "let it happen"

Yeah you're right. It's basically pure black and white in the reference. Don't really know why I didn't do it, cause I did notice when looking at it. Maybe I was too scared to go too dark? I'll try to pay more attention to it for sure
>The background has a surreal quality that I like.
Thanks, I guess it kind of has. I just tried to quickly get a kind of "idea" of the stones, trees(which I now realize aren't actually there, but just more rocks) and sky cause the figure looked a little odd on its own

I think its more about the quality of time spent rather than the ammount. If you're able to focus, be smart about how your work and have fun while at it, you're good. Art shouldn't be a burden, but it can become such if you brute force it.

The boob should be pointing forward, I don't think it'd be showing that much side curvature. The butt needs some volume to represent the glutes. It's a hard pose, as the glutes will be tensing up as if to take a leap. I'll see if I can think up a way to help hold on.

You can check your figure with negative space to see how accurate it is. It's a good drawing but the degree of tilt on the torso is throwing off the balance even though it's only off by a few degrees. Her posture is very solid and upright with the curve of the torso coming from the natural tilt of her pelvis. If you can capture that a bit better it will be a more appealing drawing. More general advice would be to draw her abs in a bit softer but that can just be preference.

The blue in this is really nice. It would be good to refine a lot of your smaller strokes into larger shapes though, it has kind of a smeared quality where you can pick out many different strokes petted in to make one shape. If you improve your edges this would look great.

>>7427770
You can draw in vertical and horizontal lines on studies like this to check your symmetry. It can help a lot just to have an actual visual guideline. As an example you can draw a horizontal from the bumps of the hips or verticals from the ears down to the nipples.

I've been drawing character designs and illustrations digitally and traditionally for 9 years man, just draw what you like, get feedback from people you like and follow your gut.
Unlike what most knuckleheads here think, you can't theory yourself into good art, 95 percent of it is just practice and getting encouragement/helpful feedback. One thing I would say helped accelerate my growth is to pick a clear target style goal and I just decided to go for it. I really like Mihoyo's character design sense and Arknight's illustration sense so I mostly study the artists from that. Drawing fanart of thing you genuinely enjoy can help with motivation, community and expose you to learning more techniques from other artists. At this point I just continue drawing out of habit, and draw whatever I want (pretty girls and men).

First, some people can just get art faster and develop skills much faster than others.

Myriad art teachers across the world honed technical skills to pro level, yet can only create unremarkable slop that won't catch anyone's attention even for a second.

just as subu being a attention faggot spamming the threads. Making others aware of the person they look up to tracing AI is perfectly valid.
If you want to go down that route then you also cannot complain about people using these threads as AI dumps.

I see no signs of that, the closest is the possibility he traces over AI prompts. And I'm not gonna lie, I don't think thats that much of a crime as the rest of you. That being said, I don't like the guy that says "heheh", he's really faggy, gives me an evil vibe lol

i think that the main issue with "just tracing" is that not only did somebody use AI to make a image but that same person goes through the effort of re-drawing it to pass it off as their own original work.

>>7429596
I think that just the rectangular format is not enough to tell if its Ai or not. The only out of place thing i can see is that one of the girls has a much longer tail but that is also a very human error(or i am just seeing it wrong). Unless you can show a history of suspicions coincidences you cannot say that it's AI.

I ran out of time to draw today, so I did some quick Torso construction practice.

I really feel more comfortable constructing the torso as round objects rather than angular cube based ones.

I didn't really use references and admittedly if I put more time into it, which I will tomorrow actually, I could have done better ones.

Regardless can someone suggest better ways of doing this? I am thinking of watching one of Brent Evistons courses on this, but any thoughts?

https://www.artistsnetwork.com/store/video/subject/figure-subject/figure-drawing-essentials-getting-started-with-gesture-shape-video-download/

I was able to draw this >>7427639 with this method of constructing torsos and it worked REALLY well for me.

I'm basically a pain expert, I recommend you strengthen the muscles that support your back. For many people stomach crunches will only cause more pain in the lower back, I recommend lifting or if you're not obese, bar pullups engaging the back. If you have a girlfriend, ask her to massage yo back now and then.

That happens if you uh trace?
>The fact that you keep posting this same image means you have nothing better to do than obsess over some random being better than you.
i posted this for my first time after i saw another guy do the same. Fags like this shouldn't be here. Again even just for his attention seeking behavior. And you should know that there is more than just one person on this board.
> I doubt you can prove any of those two drawings posted in the thread that were supposedly "prompted"
When did i say that? I posted a image showing the artist in question doing immoral shit and that's it. If you had a brain you would know why that is extremely hard. The only reason this is known in the first place is because we have the original AI image.
>go draw
who says i cant while collecting salt?
>>
>>7429920
>I posted a image showing the artist in question doing immoral shit, therefore my claims are correct!
No. Just because someone does something immoral once in the past, does not automatically prove they have done it again or have repeated the offense in the future. If we went by your logic, every kid who committed a crime of shoplifting would be condemned forever. Obviously that's retarded.
The other guy just made a baseless claiming that the girl sitting on the field of cubes was AI and you decide to post some random AI art drama that obviously none of us are talking about or care about.
>that happens if you uh trace
This is how I know you don't fucking draw, you dumb nigger.
Drawing involves understanding what you draw, even the things that are hidden on the other side. If the artist who drew the lake lamia and the girl sitting on the cubes were the same person, to my dogshit ass they have a good understanding of lighting, form and perspective. Even mid tier artists can recognize tracing, especially AI tracing. Those images usually have overall perspective/form inconsistencies that cannot be fixed without knowing what you're doing. Even with tracing 3D, if you don't know how to draw without it, it always shows and looks like shit.
>collecting salt
This is for art/critique not for dramafagging you retarded faggot. I don't give a fuck about your grudge some random artist, I'm saving and following that lamia anon's advice even if he wasn't the one who painted that 2nd girl on the cubes.
>>
Do any of you have a good gesture drawing resource you can share with me? I've watched Proko's and I get the gist but I end up drifting towards drawing the contour compared to the gesture and don't quite get what sets them apart im most cases

To some degree, but to some degree it does the opposite.

If you're used to seeing a drawing one way and you flip it, it can help you notice mistakes, but about as much it can cause you to hallucinate mistakes. Things that are actually correct, but your brain still detects as wrong, like when you see your own face in a camera vs a mirror.

It can cause your drawings to become unnaturally rigid and oversymmetrical as you subconsciously try to make both the flipped and unflipped versions match.
